Brigadier General Valentin Skroza participated in the 10th Forum of European Land Force Commanders held in Dresden, Germany, and during this occasion emphasized the importance of cooperation among the land forces of European nations. The forum, which brought together over 30 high-ranking military officers, represented a key opportunity for exchanging experiences and discussing future challenges faced by European armies, especially in the context of modernization, technological advancements, and new threats.

One of the main topics of this forum was the analysis of the conflict in Ukraine, which served as a basis for an in-depth discussion on tactical and strategic lessons learned from this conflict. Commanders discussed how these insights could enhance future land operations, with a focus on improving interoperability among the armed forces of the European Union. The analysis addressed tactical challenges as well as long-term strategic consequences, highlighting the need to adapt existing military doctrines to new forms of warfare, including the increasing importance of technologies like artificial intelligence.

General Skroza announced that the Republic of Croatia will host the upcoming FINABEL conference, a military organization founded in 1953, whose primary role is to promote interoperability among the land forces of European member countries. The conference, scheduled to take place in April next year, will gather military commanders from across Europe with the aim of further enhancing cooperation and exchanging experiences, particularly in the context of new threats and technological advancements.

The second day of the forum was dedicated to discussions on the future of mechanized warfare and key capabilities of land forces. The focus was on the adjustments needed to cope with the evolving nature of modern military threats, including cyber attacks and the growing role of unmanned aerial vehicles and advanced technologies on the battlefield. These changes emphasize the need for modernization of armies across Europe to ensure their readiness for future challenges.

The final day of the forum was centered on leadership and command, with participants highlighting how managing modern military operations has become increasingly complex. The need for new approaches to leadership, adapted to the dynamic changes on the battlefield, emerged as a key topic of the final discussion. Military leaders, including General Skroza, emphasized that success in future operations depends on the continuous education of commanders and the adaptation of traditional military models to modern circumstances.

In addition to formal discussions, the forum featured an exhibition of military equipment from the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Germany. Visitors had the opportunity to see the latest combat vehicles and weapons, showcasing the importance of investment in innovations and advanced military technologies. The exhibition further highlighted the need for modernization of military resources to ensure the capability of European armies to effectively address emerging security challenges.

The FINABEL conference, which will be held in Croatia, will have a similar focus on modernization and cooperation, with the aim of further enhancing interoperability of European land forces. The organization, which includes 25 member states, including Croatia and Slovenia, plays a crucial role in aligning military doctrines and procedures and strengthening military cooperation within the European Union and NATO alliance. The conference discussions are expected to further shape a common European military strategy for the years to come.
