Moslavina is preparing to celebrate Earth Day through a two-day event filled with recreation and spending time in nature, which will take place on the upcoming weekend, April 26th and 27th, 2025. This significant event is jointly organized by the Tourist Board of the city of Kutina, the Kutina Cycling Club, and the Yeti Mountaineering Association from Kutina, with the aim of promoting an active lifestyle and the beauties of the Moslavina region. Visitors will have the opportunity to participate in various cycling tours and hiking trips through the picturesque landscapes of Moslavina, a region known for its gentle hills, vineyards, and rich forests.

Saturday rhythm on two wheels: Cycling events for all ages

Saturday, April 26th, is entirely dedicated to cycling enthusiasts. The central gathering point for all cycling event participants will be Dr. Franjo Tuđman Square in Kutina, with the gathering scheduled to start at 10:30 AM. The organizers have prepared two different routes to satisfy the affinities and abilities of all participants, from experienced cyclists to families with children.

The longer cycling route presents a real challenge for those seeking adventure and testing their fitness. It runs through combined terrain, alternating between hilly sections with climbs and lowland parts of the Moslavina region. This route is not only a test of endurance but also an opportunity to enjoy panoramic views and discover hidden corners of the region. The first planned stop on the longer route is at the renowned Lagena Winery. Located on a hill, this winery offers a spectacular view stretching over manicured vineyards all the way to the city of Kutina and its surroundings. Participants will have the chance to taste the indigenous wine variety – Škrlet. This white wine, the pride of Moslavina, is characterized by its freshness, liveliness, and fruity and floral aromas, with notes of green apple, pear, and field flowers. Along with the tasting, refreshments will be provided so cyclists can gather energy for the continuation of the ride.

The second stop of the longer route takes participants to the idyllic village of Piljenice, located on the bank of the Pakra River. A break is planned at Ranch ZZ, surrounded by beautiful nature. This ranch offers insight into rural life, with domestic animals where horses are a special attraction. The peaceful environment and the beauty of nature will provide a perfect opportunity for relaxation before the final part of the route.

The shorter cycling route is designed as an easy and pleasant ride, ideal for families with children and recreational cyclists who prefer a more relaxed pace. The route is predominantly lowland, without demanding climbs, making it accessible even for the youngest participants. The main stop on the shorter route is within the boundaries of Lonjsko Polje Nature Park, one of the largest preserved wetland areas in Europe. Participants will visit the Repušnica Visitor Center, the gateway to the world of this unique natural treasure. Refreshments will be organized here, along with educational and recreational activities suitable for all ages. A special attraction will be the possibility of riding in an electric car, providing a fun and environmentally friendly way to explore part of the park.

Main program and gathering by Lake Bajer

The destination for both Saturday cycling routes is Lake Bajer in Kutina. This lake, created by former clay excavation for the local brickyard, is now a popular gathering place and fishing area, with plans for further development into a recreational zone. Upon arrival at the finish line, participants can expect a rich full-day program. They will be able to relax with various sports and recreational activities, enjoy the catering offer which will include local specialties, and have fun with musical performances. Special animation will be organized for the youngest visitors. This gathering by the lake is conceived as the perfect end to an active day, filled with cycling through the beauties of Moslavina. It is important to note that, in case of unfavorable weather conditions, the Saturday cycling events (both longer and shorter routes) will be canceled.

Sunday adventures: Extreme cycling and hiking on Moslavačka Gora

Sunday, April 27th, is reserved for those seeking greater challenges and deeper immersion into the natural beauties of Moslavačka Gora, a gentle mountain rising from the Pannonian plain, known since Roman times as "Mons Claudius". The program for Sunday includes an extreme cycling route and organized hiking.

The extreme cycling route, also known as "Humka extreme", is intended for experienced mountain bikers ready for demanding terrain. The start of this adventure is at 9:00 AM from Dr. Franjo Tuđman Square in Kutina. The route, about 55 kilometers long with a total ascent of up to 1000 meters, will take participants through the most attractive parts of Moslavačka Gora, combining asphalt sections, gravel roads, and challenging forest trails. The finish of the route is near Lake Mikleuška, located in the heart of the Moslavačka Gora Regional Park. Due to the demanding terrain and length, this route is not recommended for persons under 16 years of age. Participation requires a registration fee of 5 EUR, and applications are mandatory and accepted until Friday, April 25th, 2025, via the contact of the Kutina Cycling Club at the number 091 522 2286. Participants who register by the specified date are guaranteed an event T-shirt and a meal at the finish.

The hiking tour on Moslavačka Gora also starts on Sunday at 9:00 AM, with the gathering point at Lake Mikleuška. This beautiful natural oasis, accessible by car from Kutina, is the starting point for exploring the mountain. The hiking tour is designed as a not overly demanding route, suitable even for those with less hiking experience, but it includes ascents on forest trails. The hike will follow the popular educational trail "Crkveni jarak" (Church Stream), which follows the murmur of the eponymous stream. The trail passes by an extremely important archaeological site – the remains of the Pauline monastery of the Blessed Virgin Mary, known as Bela Crkva (White Church). This monastery dates back to the 13th century and was a significant center of spirituality and culture before the Paulines abandoned it due to the Ottoman threat. Today, archaeological research is conducted at the site. Hikers will then head towards the highest peak of Moslavačka Gora, Humka (488 m), where there is a developed rest area. The next point is the Vis viewpoint (437 m), a checkpoint of the Croatian Mountaineering Trail, known for its extraordinary view to the south, encompassing the vastness of Lonjsko Polje, the city of Kutina, and the wider surroundings. The end of the hiking tour is the return to Lake Mikleuška. Registrations for the hike are also mandatory and accepted until April 25th, 2025, via the email address of the Yeti Mountaineering Association Kutina: pd.yeti@hps.hr.

At the destination of Sunday's activities, near Lake Mikleuška, catering will be provided so participants can refresh themselves after the cycling and hiking efforts. Unlike the Saturday program, the extreme cycling event and the hiking tour will not be canceled in case of bad weather, so participants are advised to bring appropriate equipment.

The "Earth Day in Moslavina" event is an excellent opportunity for all nature and active holiday lovers to spend the weekend exploring the beauties of Kutina and Moslavačka Gora, enjoying socializing, recreation, and the unique experiences this region offers.

Tourism desk

Our Travel Desk was born out of a long-standing passion for travel, discovering new places, and serious journalism. Behind every article stand people who have been living tourism for decades – as travelers, tourism workers, guides, hosts, editors, and reporters. For more than thirty years, destinations, seasonal trends, infrastructure development, changes in travelers’ habits, and everything that turns a trip into an experience – and not just a ticket and an accommodation reservation – have been closely followed. These experiences are transformed into articles conceived as a companion to the reader: honest, informed, and always on the traveler’s side.

At the Travel Desk, we write from the perspective of someone who has truly walked the cobblestones of old towns, taken local buses, waited for the ferry in peak season, and searched for a hidden café in a small alley far from the postcards. Every destination is observed from multiple angles – how travelers experience it, what the locals say about it, what stories are hidden in museums and monuments, but also what the real quality of accommodation, beaches, transport links, and amenities is. Instead of generic descriptions, the focus is on concrete advice, real impressions, and details that are hard to find in official brochures.

Special attention is given to conversations with restaurateurs, private accommodation hosts, local guides, tourism workers, and people who make a living from travelers, as well as those who are only just trying to develop lesser-known destinations. Through such conversations, stories arise that do not show only the most famous attractions but also the rhythm of everyday life, habits, local cuisine, customs, and small rituals that make every place unique. The Travel Desk strives to record this layer of reality and convey it in articles that connect facts with emotion.

The content does not stop at classic travelogues. It also covers topics such as sustainable tourism, off-season travel, safety on the road, responsible behavior towards the local community and nature, as well as practical aspects like public transport, prices, recommended neighborhoods to stay in, and getting your bearings on the ground. Every article goes through a phase of research, fact-checking, and editing to ensure that the information is accurate, clear, and applicable in real situations – from a short weekend trip to a longer stay in a country or city.

The goal of the Travel Desk is that, after reading an article, the reader feels as if they have spoken to someone who has already been there, tried everything, and is now honestly sharing what is worth seeing, what to skip, and where those moments are hidden that turn a trip into a memory. That is why every new story is built slowly and carefully, with respect for the place it is about and for the people who will choose their next destination based on these words.
