The love and connection between Vukovar and the Danube have lasted since time immemorial. Vukovar, a city by the second longest river in Europe, celebrates International Danube Day with the event Danube Fest Vukovar.

The event has been organized for more than 20 years by the City of Vukovar and the Vukovar City Tourist Board. This year it will last for three days, from June 27 to 29, with activities taking place along the promenade by the Danube.

Citizens and visitors of Vukovar will be able to enjoy a rich program and various activities. There will be entertainment for all ages, diverse gastronomic offerings, free Danube cruises, and a traditional products fair – Danube Fair. Play areas for children and adults, as well as a fish stew cooking competition with carp on spits and beans cooked in pots, will be organized.

Danube cruises, specialties from the hosts and national minorities, and an anniversary party with Psihomodo pop
The Danube Fest starts on Thursday, June 27, at 10 a.m., with a promotional Danube cruise departing from the dock near the rowing club at a special price (reservations are required by calling 09893532549). Boats will cruise all day until 8 p.m.

At 6:30 p.m., food enthusiasts will get their treat when chefs showcase their skills on the terrace of Hotel Lav. Dishes prepared according to recipes passed down through generations will be tasted, made by Croats and members of national minorities – Rusyns, Serbs, Hungarians, Ukrainians, and Germans.

At 7 p.m., also on the terrace of Hotel Lav, the promotion of the booklet "Recipes of National Minorities" in the form of a postcard will begin, which visitors can send to their loved ones for free. Three lucky visitors will be awarded a SelectBox package and SuperCard gift cards. Following this, folklore groups of national minorities will perform on stage, raising the atmosphere with their songs and dances.

Along the promenade, the Danube Fair of traditional products will be organized, where visitors can enjoy carp on spits, beans in pots, and taste local wines on the Wine Road.

The first day of Danube Fest concludes with a concert marking a great anniversary. At 9 p.m., the band Psihomodo pop, celebrating 40 years of career, will heat up the atmosphere even more!

Festive cruise, cultural programs, traditional fair, workshops for all ages, and entertainment with tamburitza players
On the second day of Danube Fest, boats will depart from the dock near the rowing club for promotional Danube cruises from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. From 5 to 8 p.m., the Croatian Rowing Club Vukovar will hold an Open Day event and the "Row on the Danube" event. Visitors will have the opportunity to try rowing on the river.

At the Danube Fair, starting at 5 p.m., souvenirs and products from local family farms can be bought, and visitors can enjoy carp on spits, fish stew, and beans in pots, while also enjoying wines on the Wine Road.

Children will enjoy face painting from 5:30 p.m., followed by a circus performance by Cirkultura at 6 p.m.

Art enthusiasts can participate in the workshop "Danube on Canvas" at 6 p.m. on the balcony of Eltz Castle. Those who wish to learn circus skills can attend the Cirkultura circus skills workshop from 7:30 to 8 p.m. At the same time, a skydiver show will begin in the park of Eltz Castle.

The second day concludes with the Cirkultura Circus Cabaret at 8 p.m., followed by a concert by TS Allegro celebrating 10 years of activity with a special performance by Stjepan Jeršek Štef.

The third day – Saturday, June 29 – starts with a promotional and free Danube cruise from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Visitors will enjoy the beauty of the river and the view of Vukovar and the Water Tower.

At 5 p.m., a treat for all senses begins: traditional carp on spits, fish stew, and beans in pots will be offered, and at the same time, the Fish Stew Cooking Competition – "Fišijada" – starts, lasting until 6 p.m. A special jury will judge the samples and award prizes.

Good food is accompanied by song and dance – from 6 p.m., the 16th meeting of folklore societies "Danube for its City" begins, organized by the Croatian Cultural and Music Society "Danube" from Vukovar.

At 8:15 p.m., the drum band RitmOS from Osijek kicks off a strong music program, followed by a concert by Željko Bebek at 9:30 p.m., celebrating 50 years of his career.

The editorial team for current affairs operates as a shared space where experience, journalistic passion and curiosity come together every day to create content that aims to give readers what matters most – clear, verified and human information. This is a place where authors and volunteers gather, people who have been observing the world around us for more than three decades, from social changes and cultural movements to new trends in lifestyle, travel and global events.

Our work is not based on templates but on real experience and a genuine sense for storytelling. The editorial desk has grown from years spent in the field, talking to people, following events and exploring topics that shape everyday life. That is why we strive for storytelling that is not merely the transmission of information, but an effort to understand the context, background and human dimension of each topic. Every article passes through the hands of an author guided by a simple rule: we do not write to fill space, but to provide real value.

In our work, we rely on experience gained through years of journalistic practice, as well as on the curiosity that constantly drives us forward. Whether it is a social change, a festival, a travel report, an analysis of a current issue or an event that attracts public attention, we always try to maintain a human tone and balance. We write the way we ourselves would like to read – clearly, accurately and with respect for facts and for the reader.

As an editorial team, we believe that the modern information space requires responsibility and presence, but also warmth and understanding. In a time of fast news, it is especially important for us to offer content that is not just a fleeting echo of the moment, but a text that helps readers better understand the world around them. This is why we constantly return to the fundamental values of journalism: dialogue, research, verification and perseverance.

The editorial team for current affairs exists to give a voice to real stories and to the people who carry them. Every member of the desk brings their personal experience, and together we work with the idea that readers should receive what they deserve – reliable, contemporary and professionally crafted information, written with heart and knowledge, without haste and without automation.
