In the heart of Grobnik, on Easter Monday, April 21, 2025, a special edition of the event "Frankopan Easter in the Castle" will take place, marking two significant anniversaries: 800 years since the construction of Grobnik Castle and 400 years since the birth of Ana Katarina Frankopan Zrinski. This celebration, traditionally held every year, will be enriched this year with numerous contents and activities for all ages.

Grobnik Castle: 800 years of history

Grobnik Castle, built around 1225, represents one of the most important cultural and historical monuments in the region. Over the centuries, the Castle was the center of numerous historical events and the home of noble families, including the Frankopan family. Today, the Castle is not only a symbol of the past but also a gathering place for the community through various events and happenings.

Ana Katarina Frankopan Zrinski: 400 years since birth

Ana Katarina Frankopan Zrinski, born around 1625 in Bosiljevo, was a Croatian noblewoman, poet, and translator. Known for her work "Putni tovaruš", a collection of prayers published in 1661, Ana Katarina left a deep mark on Croatian literature. After the tragic death of her husband Petar Zrinski and brother Fran Krsto Frankopan, who were executed for participating in the Zrinski-Frankopan Conspiracy, Ana Katarina spent the rest of her life in a convent in Graz, where she died in 1673.

Event Program

The event will begin at 14:00 (2:00 PM) with the reading of the Frankopan proclamation in the Castle atrium. Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy a rich program that includes an artistic presentation of šišer in the shape of the Castle, the opening of the Frankopan chest with 400 Easter eggs of good wishes, and the traditional distribution of šišer, coffee, and tea.

Frankopan Archery Tournament

One of the main attractions will be the "Frankopan Archery Tournament" organized by the Frankopan Guard. In the courtyard in front of the Sokol building, visitors will be able to enjoy a medieval atmosphere, demonstrations of archery skills, and participate in medieval games adapted for all ages.

Activities for Children and Families

Various activities are prepared for the youngest visitors, including pony riding, an educational workshop on the history of the Frankopan Guard starting at 13:00 (1:00 PM) in the south tower of the Castle, and various family games like the "Grand Prize of the Frankopan Easter" and "Grobnik Bingo". Also, craft workshops for moms and kids and children's performances will be held.

Prize Competition and Play

A special addition to the event is the competition for the most beautifully decorated Grobnik Easter egg, the winner of which will be awarded according to the scores of the Frankopan jury. All information about registration is available on the Facebook pages of the Udruga Grobnički rez and the Turistička zajednica Čavle. At 16:30 (4:30 PM) in the Sokol building, there will be a preview of the educational play "Leptir Plavac i Đuro patuljak", authored by Marija Vičević, created through the collaboration of the Udruga Vidov san za čistu planetu and Grobnički rez.

Gastronomic Offer and Humanitarian Action

The band Intriga will provide good entertainment, while numerous Grobnik associations and the caffe bar Centar will be in charge of the gastronomic offer. All contributions collected from donations for šišer are gathered for humanitarian purposes.

Tourism desk

Our Travel Desk was born out of a long-standing passion for travel, discovering new places, and serious journalism. Behind every article stand people who have been living tourism for decades – as travelers, tourism workers, guides, hosts, editors, and reporters. For more than thirty years, destinations, seasonal trends, infrastructure development, changes in travelers’ habits, and everything that turns a trip into an experience – and not just a ticket and an accommodation reservation – have been closely followed. These experiences are transformed into articles conceived as a companion to the reader: honest, informed, and always on the traveler’s side.

At the Travel Desk, we write from the perspective of someone who has truly walked the cobblestones of old towns, taken local buses, waited for the ferry in peak season, and searched for a hidden café in a small alley far from the postcards. Every destination is observed from multiple angles – how travelers experience it, what the locals say about it, what stories are hidden in museums and monuments, but also what the real quality of accommodation, beaches, transport links, and amenities is. Instead of generic descriptions, the focus is on concrete advice, real impressions, and details that are hard to find in official brochures.

Special attention is given to conversations with restaurateurs, private accommodation hosts, local guides, tourism workers, and people who make a living from travelers, as well as those who are only just trying to develop lesser-known destinations. Through such conversations, stories arise that do not show only the most famous attractions but also the rhythm of everyday life, habits, local cuisine, customs, and small rituals that make every place unique. The Travel Desk strives to record this layer of reality and convey it in articles that connect facts with emotion.

The content does not stop at classic travelogues. It also covers topics such as sustainable tourism, off-season travel, safety on the road, responsible behavior towards the local community and nature, as well as practical aspects like public transport, prices, recommended neighborhoods to stay in, and getting your bearings on the ground. Every article goes through a phase of research, fact-checking, and editing to ensure that the information is accurate, clear, and applicable in real situations – from a short weekend trip to a longer stay in a country or city.

The goal of the Travel Desk is that, after reading an article, the reader feels as if they have spoken to someone who has already been there, tried everything, and is now honestly sharing what is worth seeing, what to skip, and where those moments are hidden that turn a trip into a memory. That is why every new story is built slowly and carefully, with respect for the place it is about and for the people who will choose their next destination based on these words.
