Opening today's 11th session of the Government, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković reflected on the storm that recently hit the Municipality of Bošnjaci in the Vukovar-Srijem County.

The Government Helps the Municipality of Bošnjaci
The Prime Minister thanked Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Josip Dabro and Civil Protection Director Damir Trut, who visited the municipality the very next morning. Plenković contacted the mayor Andrija Juzbašić and acting Vukovar-Srijem County Prefect Franjo Orešković in the evening.

He stated that the damage is extensive and announced that the Government will decide on financial assistance for people whose property was damaged in the storm after assessing the damage. "We did this last year, and now we will do everything necessary again," said Plenković.

Lowest Inflation Since 2021
The Prime Minister commented on the report of the State Bureau of Statistics on the inflation rate, which stood at 2.4 percent in June. This is the 19th consecutive month of recorded decline in inflation. The rate of 2.4 percent is the lowest since June 2021.

"This shows that we have achieved a stable trend of reducing inflation through a combination of various measures," emphasized Plenković. He particularly appealed to all participants, especially in the context of the tourist season, to be responsible and prudent in setting prices.

European Council on Key Figures
Last week, the Prime Minister participated in a European Council meeting where proposals for the appointment of key figures in European institutions for the next five-year term were made. The Strategic Program of the European Union was also adopted.

Plenković also participated in the Dubrovnik Forum, assessing numerous discussions as high-quality and useful. He emphasized that Croatia marked 11 years of membership in the European Union.

Strengthening the Position of Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Last week, Prime Minister Plenković met with the Chairman of the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Čović. They discussed relations between the two countries and strengthening the position of Croats as a constituent people in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He also recalled the issuance of government bonds, announced by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Marko Primorac. The goal is to raise 750 million euros from citizens and institutional investors.

The Prime Minister participated in the 19th Convention of Croatian Exporters, emphasizing the importance of supporting exporters and craftsmen, whose number has increased by 43,000 in the past eight years. He announced work on a new law on crafts.

Tourism Growth in Croatia
The Prime Minister presented new tourism data for the first six months of this year, showing that 7.2 million tourists visited Croatia, achieving 28 million overnight stays, an increase of 6 and 2 percent compared to last year. Croatian National Bank data for the first three months of this year shows a 25 percent increase in revenue from foreign tourists compared to last year, as well as a 6.5 percent increase in the number of fiscalized receipts in the sector.

"We expect a very successful tourist season and a significant contribution to the economy," said Plenković, announcing the traditional meeting of Government representatives and the tourism sector during the summer.

Council for Slavonia, Baranja, and Srijem
He announced that tomorrow, the Council for Slavonia, Baranja, and Srijem will be held in the Municipality of Jakšić.

The Government will also discuss the Proposal of the Law on the Central Population Register. "The new law will enable better insight into various crisis situations and targeted support for citizens who need help the most," concluded the Prime Minister.
