Air firefighting forces successfully extinguished two major fires in Dalmatia using Canadair CL-415 aircraft

Over the past weekend, three Canadair CL-415 aircraft participated in extinguishing fires in the Bosanka area near Dubrovnik and the island of Hvar. Thanks to rapid engagement, the fires have been successfully localized.

Members of the aerial firefighting forces deployed three Canadair CL-415 firefighting planes over the past weekend to combat two large fires in Dalmatia.

Two Canadair CL-415 planes were used to extinguish a fire in the Bosanka area near Dubrovnik on Sunday, June 23, 2024, in the afternoon. After successfully extinguishing the fire, they were redirected to a new fire site on the island of Hvar.

On the island of Hvar, a third Canadair CL-415 firefighting plane was additionally engaged to assist in extinguishing the fire. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the HRZ aerial firefighting forces and local firefighting units, the fire was localized.

Statistics since the beginning of the year
Since the beginning of 2024, 11 requests for firefighting have been received. A total of 417 flights were made, spending 40 hours and 35 minutes in the air. During these operations, 2238 tons of water were dropped and 940 liters of foam were used.
