Croatian Army in search and rescue operations on Rab and Velebit with Pilatus aircraft and Mi-171Sh helicopter

Today, members of the Croatian Army participated in search and rescue operations on the island of Rab and in the Paklenica National Park. Pilatus PC-9 aircraft and Mi-171Sh helicopter were engaged.

Members of the Croatian Army with a Pilatus PC-9 aircraft from the Coast Guard and a Mi-171Sh helicopter from the Croatian Air Force participated today, June 24, 2024, in search and rescue operations on the island of Rab and in Paklenica National Park.

Search on Rab
At the request of the National Search and Rescue Center, the Pilatus PC-9 aircraft was engaged in the morning hours in a search operation for a missing person with a rubber boat in the area of the island of Rab. The Pilatus pilot spotted the rubber boat, and the location was immediately reported to the Port Authority, which then rescued the foreign national.

Rescue on Velebit
The second search and rescue operation took place in the afternoon hours in the Paklenica National Park area. The Mi-171Sh helicopter from the 395th Transport Helicopter Squadron was engaged to transport a team of members of the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service (HGSS). The team was transported with the aim of rescuing an injured person in the area of Anića Kuk on Velebit.
