The Palace Theatre is a historic theatre and event venue in central Calgary, distinguished by its brick façade, Corinthian pilasters and architectural details recalling the golden age of grand movie palaces. Opened in the early 20th century and carefully adapted for contemporary events, the venue accommodates around 1,200 guests and today hosts concerts, musical performances and a variety of special events.
The interior retains much of its historic character, including decorative features and impressive staircases, while incorporating a modern sound system suited to concerts and other performances. It is primarily a standing venue, with limited seating available at the rear of the main floor and on the mezzanine when in use, while bars on multiple levels add convenience during events.
219 8 Ave SW, Calgary, Canada is located on Stephen Avenue in the heart of the city centre. The entrance is approximately one block south of the 1st Street SW CTrain station, providing a short walk to the venue. The theatre does not have dedicated parking, but street parking, public lots and parking garages are available nearby.
