Staatsoperette Dresden is one of Dresden's distinctive musical theatres, located within the Kraftwerk Mitte cultural complex on a former 19th-century industrial site. Its architecture combines preserved historic brick buildings with contemporary theatre spaces, creating a striking blend of industrial heritage and modern design. The main auditorium has 700 seats and is designed for operettas, musicals, operas, concerts and other music-theatre productions.
Inside, tiered seating provides good views of the stage from virtually all sections of the auditorium. The acoustics were specifically designed for musical theatre, with a variable system that can be adapted to different types of performances. Air conditioning, accessible facilities for visitors with reduced mobility, and bar and dining options within the complex add to the comfort of a visit before the performance and during the interval.
The theatre is located at Kraftwerk Mitte 1, 01067 Dresden, Germany. Visitors arriving by car can use the Kraftwerk Mitte car park at Löbtauer Straße 21, approximately a four-minute walk from the theatre; from the parking area, the route passes through the railway underpass and across the pedestrian crossing at Könneritzstraße toward the theatre entrance. Several tram, bus and rail stops are also within a short walk. For a broader overview of transport connections throughout Dresden, see the city travel information further down the page.
