Portbase is a modern concert venue in Nagoya's Minato Ward, designed primarily for live music while also accommodating theatre and other stage productions. Its two-storey steel structure contains a flexible performance space with a capacity of approximately 2,286 people in a standing configuration or around 1,112 guests when seating is installed. This versatility allows the venue to retain the energy of a live-house concert while accommodating audiences larger than those of a typical music club.
Inside, the venue is centred on a functional live-performance space, with clear stage views from different areas and a layout suited to amplified concerts. Visitors have access to spacious lobby areas, more than a thousand lockers for personal belongings and practical facilities including a ticket counter, first-aid room and accessible restrooms. The combination of substantial capacity and a relatively compact concert format creates a more immediate atmosphere than that usually associated with large-scale arenas.
The venue is located at 3-3-5 Kanekawacho, Minato Ward, Nagoya, Japan. Portbase does not have its own car park, making public transport the most practical way to reach the entrance; the venue is approximately an eight-minute walk from Exit 2 of Minato Kuyakusho Station on the Meiko Line. As the building is not directly adjacent to a road accessible to private vehicles, visitors arriving by taxi should use the nearby taxi stand at LaLaport Nagoya Minato AQULS and continue to the venue on foot.
