Fredrikstad Domkirke is a monumental red-brick Neo-Gothic cathedral, originally completed in 1880 and now serving as the seat of the Diocese of Borg. Recognizable by its tall tower and elongated nave, it is one of the prominent architectural landmarks in central Fredrikstad. The church provides approximately 790 seats, allowing it to host major services, concerts and other cultural events.
Inside, the traditional sacred atmosphere is complemented by artistic features including stained-glass windows by Emanuel Vigeland and an altarpiece painting by Axel Revold. The high nave and natural reverberation are particularly well suited to organ, choral and classical music. Facilities include designated wheelchair spaces, step-free access via a ramp on the south side and a hearing loop for visitors using compatible hearing aids.
The cathedral is located at Nygaardsgata 6, Fredrikstad, Norway. The nearest bus stop is on Riddervolds gate, directly outside the main entrance, while vehicles can briefly stop beside the church for passenger drop-off and pick-up; the cathedral itself has no dedicated parking.
