Chateau Neuf is not a conventional single-stage theatre, but a large cultural and student centre in Oslo's Majorstuen district. Designed by architects Lund and Slaatto, its distinctive modernist structure is regarded as a notable example of Norwegian post-war architecture. The complex extends across eight floors and approximately 10,126 square metres, with an overall capacity of around 1,200 visitors. Its main auditorium, Storsalen, is an amphitheatre-style hall seating about 1,000 people, while the more intimate Teaterscenen operates as a black box theatre for smaller productions.
The interior accommodates a wide range of events, from theatre productions and stage shows to concerts, lectures and debates. Storsalen is equipped with sound, lighting and audiovisual facilities as well as a bar, while Teaterscenen has its own backstage area and a simpler theatrical setup that creates a closer connection between performers and the audience. The building also contains additional halls, bars and social spaces, allowing the event experience to extend beyond the performance itself.
