Palacio de Festivales is one of Santander's most distinctive cultural and congress venues. Designed by Francisco Javier Sáenz de Oiza and inspired by the classical Greek theatre at Epidaurus, the building is instantly recognizable for its four towers rising approximately 50 metres, marble surfaces and green-toned copper elements. Its main Sala Argenta accommodates around 1,500 visitors, while smaller halls provide flexible settings for performances, concerts, conferences and events of different scales.
The interior was designed with particular attention to acoustics and the audience experience. Sala Argenta is noted for its clear, natural sound, large stage and trapezoidal window overlooking the bay, which brings daylight into the auditorium. Sala Pereda, with approximately 500 seats, offers a more intimate setting, while spacious foyers and supporting facilities make arrivals and intervals comfortable.
