Amy Macdonald is coming to Wolfsburg on August 15, 2026, for one of the final concerts of this year's Sommerfestival at Autostadt. The album was released on July 11, 2025, with ten songs, and production duties were shared by Nicolas Rebscher and Jim Abbiss. Her foundations are still recognizable in the sound - folk-pop, guitars, a solid rhythm and narrative lyrics - but the production often elevates the songs toward a broader, concert-oriented sound.

Thematically, the album is connected to boundaries in relationships, the pressure of expectations, breaking free from exhausting relationships and the need for a new beginning. The title track is particularly connected to the idea of live performance. When presenting the album, Macdonald spoke about how important concerts are to her and how the feeling of the audience, the noise and the shared moment was part of the inspiration for this new phase of her work.

After its release, the album entered the best-selling releases on several European markets: it reached number 8 in the United Kingdom, number 1 in Scotland and number 4 in Germany. That German result gives additional context to the summer performance in Wolfsburg - the new music is not being presented here to an audience that knows the performer only from her old hits.

Lagunenbühne changes the feel of the concert

The concert takes place at the Lagunenbühne, the main large stage of the Sommerfestival at Autostadt. The organizer describes it as a stage with the iconic Autotürme in the background, giving evening performances a visual setting that differs significantly from a standard sports arena. It is an open-air space within the Autostadt complex, surrounded by parkland, bodies of water and Wolfsburg's industrial-architectural backdrop.

Sommerfestival 2026 runs from July 3 to August 16 and brings 29 concerts to two stages. Amy Macdonald performs on the festival's penultimate evening, while Calum Scott closes the program on the Lagunenbühne the following day. This places her concert right at the end of the multi-week summer program rather than as an isolated performance outside the festival context.

Within the schedule of her own summer tour, Wolfsburg is part of an intensive series of performances in Central Europe. Immediately before Autostadt, a performance in Halle is scheduled, followed by a concert in Lingen the next day. Further German dates then follow, including Stuttgart, Bonn, Dresden, Bad Nenndorf, Bruchsal, Bochum, Gießen and Bad Kissingen. Wolfsburg is therefore not the only German opportunity on this tour, but the Autostadt date has a clear festival identity and a distinctive open-air stage.

Evening schedule and entry to the concert

For visitors, the most important practical detail is that Autostadt's operating arrangements change on the day of a concert. On days when a concert takes place on the Lagunenbühne, daytime visitors begin leaving the park at around 16:45 so the area can be prepared. The park reopens for the concert audience at 18:00.

For this concert, the schedule is therefore simple:

• 20:00 - start of Amy Macdonald's performance

Entrances for concerts on the Lagunenbühne lead through the Piazza. Ticket checks, bag checks and security screenings are carried out in the Mobideck area and on the city side of the Stadtbrücke. The organizer also states that access via Parkstraße is not possible, so there is little point in trying to find an alternative entrance around the complex.

If you plan to arrive earlier and spend part of the day at Autostadt, keep in mind that the park is cleared for concert preparations before reopening. This is particularly important for travelers combining a daytime visit to the complex with the evening concert - it is not intended that visitors simply remain in the main park until the performance begins.

Bags, drinks and things that are better left at your accommodation or in the car

Bag checks and security screenings are carried out at the entrance. Bags no larger than DIN A4 are permitted, and Autostadt explicitly recommends keeping the amount of belongings to the essential minimum.

Practical rules for the concert area include:

• bags no larger than DIN A4 are permitted
• drinks may be brought in Tetra Pack packaging, a hydration bladder or a collapsible soft bottle of up to 500 ml
• glass, metal, cans and other hard containers are not permitted
• professional cameras with interchangeable lenses, GoPro cameras, audio and video recording devices, tablets, laptops and selfie sticks are not permitted
• large items such as chairs, suitcases, carts and similar equipment are not permitted
• stick umbrellas are not permitted, while small folding umbrellas are allowed

For families, another note is useful: the organizer recommends appropriate hearing protection for children and babies and states that such protection for this age group is not available at the venue. If you are coming with a child, this is something that should be prepared before departure.

Arriving by train is particularly easy

Autostadt is located very close to Wolfsburg Hauptbahnhof and the central bus terminal. Under normal conditions, the complex can be reached from the station in a few minutes on foot via the Stadtbrücke, making the train a practical option for visitors arriving from other cities.

There is, however, an important concert-related route change. On days with concerts on the Lagunenbühne, the exit from the main railway station toward the Mittellandkanal is closed between 16:00 and 20:30. During that period, the Stadtbrücke can be accessed from the Phaeno and outlet-center side. Passengers arriving shortly before the entrances open should therefore follow temporary signage rather than automatically taking the route they would use during a normal daytime visit.

Autostadt lists direct rail connections from several major German cities. For the evening return journey, however, it is sensible to check the last suitable departures in advance, especially when a connection requires transfers.

Arriving by car and parking

For arrivals by car, Autostadt directs drivers from the A2 motorway via the A39 toward the Wolfsburg-West exit. Parking areas P1, P2, P3 and the short-term parking area next to the Servicehaus are located in the immediate vicinity of the complex.

On evenings with concerts on the Lagunenbühne, a parking guidance system is used to indicate where spaces are still available. This is more useful than relying on a single parking area selected in advance. Autostadt currently also warns of limited availability of the short-term parking area due to construction work, with temporary closures possible.

For navigation, the organizer recommends entering "Carl Hahn Brücke" or "Parkstraße" instead of "Stadtbrücke" so that the vehicle is directed toward the parking areas. Since pedestrian access to the concert follows special rules and goes through the Piazza, concert signage on site should be followed after parking.

Who this concert is a good choice for

Amy Macdonald is not a performer whose current show can be reduced simply to nostalgia for a hit from 2007. The new album has a strong enough identity to occupy an important part of the concert context, while at the same time the organizer openly emphasizes that old favorites remain part of the live experience. This is precisely why the concert can satisfy two types of audiences that do not always overlap: those who follow her entire discography and those who want to hear several major songs in a powerful festival setting.

Fans of folk-pop will get an acoustic and singer-songwriter foundation, audiences inclined toward pop-rock will get big choruses and more rhythmic arrangements, while visitors primarily looking for a summer open-air concert get a stage that is itself part of the event's identity. Blair Davie as the announced support act additionally extends the musical part of the evening before the main performance.

Pyrotechnics, special guests and major production surprises have not been confirmed in advance. What has been confirmed is the current album, familiar hits, the open-air Lagunenbühne, support before the main performance and a date near the end of the Sommerfestival.

If the goal is to hear Amy Macdonald in a format that connects her early folk-pop identity with her current, production-wise broader songs, Wolfsburg offers a very clear cross-section of those two phases. Ticket sales for this event are currently underway.
