Creamfields in Daresbury: an electronic city with multiple parallel stages
Creamfields returns to the Daresbury Estate in Cheshire, between Liverpool and Manchester, at the end of August, and the 2026 edition marks 20 years of the festival at this location. The programme runs from Thursday 27 to Sunday 30 August, while Saturday 29 August brings one of the busiest schedules of the weekend.
For a visitor with a single-day Saturday ticket, the most important thing is to understand what distinguishes Creamfields from a traditional concert. There is no single stage and linear programme. Daresbury is transformed into a network of open-air stages, tents, arenas and themed spaces where EDM, house, techno, trance, drum & bass and harder dance styles alternate simultaneously. Part of the day can be spent with major names on the Arc and Apex stages, and part in more genre-focused spaces such as Steel Yard, HALO, Sub_Aural, RONG and Goodgreef Xtra Hard.
Creamfields grew out of the club culture of the Cream brand, which began as a weekly house night in Liverpool in October 1992. The festival archive traces editions from 1998, while 2026 particularly highlights two decades spent in Daresbury.
Tickets for this event are in high demand.
Saturday brings Calvin Harris, Martin Garrix, Armin van Buuren and Alesso
Saturday's programme best demonstrates the breadth of the festival. Calvin Harris is the headline name on the Arc stage, alongside Josh Baker, Jazzy, Tyson O'Brien and Kaci Lea Lynch. This is the part of the programme that most appeals to audiences who associate Creamfields with large-scale outdoor production and the crossover between club and radio electronic music.
Apex on the same day brings together Alesso, Armin van Buuren, Ben Hemsley, Dimitri Vegas, Martin Garrix, MK, L.P. Rhythm and Samantha Neal, alongside Third Party, Matisse & Sadko and DubVision. Steel Yard offers a different intensity: Underworld Live, Amelie Lens Presents AURA, CamelPhat, Dom Dolla, Eli Brown, Joseph Capriati B2B SOSA, Kettama, Pete Tong, Lau and Toriah.
- Arc: Calvin Harris, Josh Baker, Jazzy, Tyson O'Brien, Kaci Lea Lynch.
- Apex: Alesso, Armin van Buuren, Martin Garrix, Ben Hemsley, Dimitri Vegas, MK and others.
- Steel Yard: Underworld Live, Amelie Lens Presents AURA, CamelPhat, Dom Dolla, Eli Brown, Joseph Capriati B2B SOSA, Kettama and Pete Tong.
- HALO: Patrick Topping, East End Dubs, Rebuke, Joshwa, Manda Moor and Lucia Cors.
- Sub_Aural: Andy C ft Tonn Piper, Hedex ft Eksman, Hybrid Minds ft Tempza, Culture Shock, Kanine, Koven, Lens, Mozey and Sigma.
- RONG: Billy Gillies, Bryan Kearney, Mauro Picotto, Nifra, Daxson, Liam Wilson, Gia and Anselli.
- Goodgreef Xtra Hard: Warface, MISH, Schak, Alex Kidd and Klubfiller ft MC Storm.
For a first visit, it is worth accepting that interesting performances overlap. Trying to see everything usually ends with constant walking between arenas. It is better to choose a few artists you do not want to miss and leave room between them for discovering other stages. The 2026 set times have been published in the festival app, where artists can be saved to a personal schedule.
The location is part of the experience, not just a backdrop
Creamfields takes place in an open-air area in Daresbury. The Event Arena and a large part of the accompanying zones are located on grass, with a combination of open-air stages, large arenas, temporary structures and campsites. Moving between programmes is therefore an integral part of the day.
HALO shows how much is invested in different venue formats. The arena was introduced in 2025 as an evolution of the earlier Runway concept, with a circular design 45 metres wide and production surrounding the audience. The Forest was introduced in the same year, and both concepts remain part of the festival layout in 2026.
Several musical routes can therefore be planned for Saturday: from house and major mainstage names towards techno and live electronics in Steel Yard, then towards drum & bass in Sub_Aural or trance in the RONG space. Creamfields works best when the line-up is read as a map of parallel scenes rather than one long list.
It is worth securing tickets in good time.
A single-day ticket is not the same as a camping weekend
A Standard Day ticket for Saturday provides access to the Event Arena, but not to the campsites. After the arena closes, single-day visitors must leave the site. Gold Day includes additional access to the Hospitality Arena and the benefits of that zone, but it also does not include camping.
The re-entry rule is important: once a ticket has been scanned and the visitor leaves the site, returning on the same day is not permitted. Before entering, it is therefore necessary to check that you have everything needed for the rest of the day.
Multi-day options are divided into non-camping and camping categories. Non-camping is for guests who leave for external accommodation after each day and return the following day. Camping variants are linked to specific campsites. Bronze includes its own camping zone, showers, standard toilets and an info hub. Silver adds access to the Gold/Silver campsite, pamper facilities and parking, while Gold also includes the Hospitality Arena. Dreamfields and Pre-Pitch are separate accommodation options and do not replace a festival ticket.
Downtown and activities outside the music programme
For campers, Creamfields also offers daytime life away from the main stages. Downtown is a sports, wellness and entertainment area with football, basketball, mini golf, karaoke, quizzes, DJ workshops, fitness, yoga, Zumba, massages and meditation. The Culinary Quarter offers food, drinks, salads, smoothies and juices, while beauty zones provide hair styling, make-up and other festival treatments.
A wide selection of food and drinks is available throughout the site, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options as well as allergen information. Bars and retail outlets operate cashlessly, accepting cards, contactless payment, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Getting to Daresbury requires planning
Daresbury is located in Cheshire in north-west England, between Liverpool and Manchester. The nearest railway points listed by Creamfields are Runcorn Station, Warrington Central, Warrington Bank Quay and Liverpool Lime Street.
During the festival weekend, shuttle transport connects the site with Liverpool, Manchester and Warrington, while a return service also operates towards Runcorn and Widnes. With Runcorn, it is important to check the direction because, according to current information, the shuttle is used for leaving the festival towards the station, rather than for arriving from Runcorn to the site.
For guests arriving by air, Liverpool John Lennon Airport and Manchester Airport are the most practical options. From Manchester, it is possible to travel by train towards Warrington Central, while from Liverpool John Lennon Airport the journey can continue via Liverpool South Parkway towards Warrington.
If arriving by car, temporary traffic signs around the event should be followed instead of relying solely on navigation, as special traffic regulations and road closures may be in place. The pickup and drop-off zone is located next to the North car park.
- Train: plan arrival via Warrington, Runcorn or Liverpool and check the shuttle connection.
- Shuttle: used from Liverpool, Manchester and Warrington, with a return service towards Runcorn and Widnes.
- Car: follow festival traffic signs, not only navigation.
- Taxi or private transport: use the designated pickup/drop-off zone next to the North car park.
- App: save the map and performance schedule and, if necessary, mark the location of the car or tent.
What to bring into the arena
Entry rules differ between the campsite and the Event Arena. For single-day visitors, it is particularly important that food may not be brought into the arena, while one sealed 500 ml plastic bottle of water may be brought in. Water refill points are also available.
A small bag up to A4 size is generally permitted in the arena. Glass is not allowed, including items that are easy to overlook such as some perfume or cosmetic bottles. Professional photo and video equipment is also not part of the standard permitted equipment for visitors.
Creamfields is an adults-only event. Entry is available to those who are at least 18 years old on the day of arrival. Security checks should be expected at entry, so it makes sense to carry only what is genuinely needed for a day outdoors.
First time at Creamfields: choose a few anchor performances
The most common mistake at a festival of this format is creating a schedule without allowing time for moving around. Arc, Apex, Steel Yard, HALO, Sub_Aural and the other zones have their own rhythms. If two desired sets overlap, it is necessary to decide in advance which has priority or accept that only part of one performance will be seen.
The 2026 app brings together set times, artists, stage information, a map and notifications about changes. The location of a car or tent can also be marked. For a single-day guest, the set times and map are the most useful; for campers, navigation towards the tent and Downtown facilities provides additional value.
Saturday's combination of Calvin Harris, Martin Garrix and Alesso stands alongside Underworld, Pete Tong and Mauro Picotto, while Amelie Lens, Dom Dolla, Patrick Topping, Andy C, Hedex, Billy Gillies and Warface attract audiences from different contemporary club scenes. As a result, different parts of the site can feel like completely different festivals during the same day.
Places are disappearing quickly.
What 2025 changed in today's Creamfields experience
The 2025 edition is important for understanding the festival's current appearance. HALO, The Forest and Downtown Village were introduced that year, while the programme featured Swedish House Mafia, David Guetta, Chase & Status, Anyma and Chris Stussy B2B Josh Baker. This emphasised the direction towards greater genre diversity and more facilities for campers outside the performances themselves.
In 2026, this model continues alongside the anniversary of the Daresbury location. For a Saturday visitor, this means that in a single day they can move from Calvin Harris to Underworld, from Armin van Buuren to Amelie Lens, from Andy C's drum & bass to the trance programme of Bryan Kearney and Mauro Picotto. Creamfields is therefore planned more like a route through a festival than a trip to a single concert.
