See Djo live in concert in Rome at the Cavea of Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone. The 24 August 2026 show brings the "The Crux" era and earlier favorites. The concert is currently marked sold out, so follow current event information and plan your ticket purchase and arrival

Djo in Rome: psychedelic pop, guitars and a new stage in Joe Keery's project

Djo comes to Rome following the global breakthrough of the song "End of Beginning", the album "The Crux" and its follow-up "The Crux Deluxe", at a stage when Joe Keery's project has developed a clearly defined live identity. The performance as part of Roma Summer Fest takes place in the Cavea of the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone complex, starting at 21:30.

This is Djo's first performance in Italy. The very next evening, the tour continues in Milan, while the evening in Rome will be opened by Witch Post, the indie-pop duo Dylan Fraser and Alaska Reid.

Interest is already very concrete: the Auditorium currently lists the Rome concert as sold out. If additional availability appears in the run-up to the concert, it is worth acting in time instead of assuming that places will remain available until the final day.

Why Djo is much more than "End of Beginning" today

Djo is the musical identity of Joe Keery, a songwriter, producer and performer who is also widely known to the public as an actor from the series "Stranger Things" and "Fargo". In music, however, his journey stretches much further back than the viral moment of a single song. Before his solo project, he played with the Chicago psychedelic rock band Post Animal, and as Djo, since 2019, he has gradually built his own blend of psychedelic pop, synth-pop textures, indie rock and melodies that often carry a strong imprint of 1960s and 1970s music.

"The Crux" marked a clear change in that sound. Compared with the earlier, distinctly synthesizer-heavy and lo-fi phases, the album gives more space to guitars, fuller arrangements and a more classic pop-rock feel. "Basic Being Basic" became one of the key singles of that period, while songs such as "Potion", "Delete Ya", "Charlie's Garden" and "Gap Tooth Smile" showed how easily Djo can move between playful pop, psychedelia and softer, introspective moments.

The project was then expanded with the release of "The Crux Deluxe". It is a separate collection of 12 additional songs created during the same creative period, including "T. Rex Is Loud", "Love Can't Break The Spell", "Mr. Mountebank", "Carry The Name", "Purgatory Silverstar", "Grime Of The World" and "Awake". For the audience coming to Rome, this is important context: Djo is currently performing not simply as an artist with one major hit, but as a songwriter with several clearly different phases and a catalogue broad enough for a dynamic concert arc.

"The Crux" also received a Grammy nomination in the Best Album Cover category, further demonstrating how closely the project's visual identity has become connected with the music.

What previous performances tell us about the concert experience

A complete set list has not been published for the Rome concert. Still, recent performances provide a good sense of what Djo is like live. Reviews of the 2025 tour describe a full band with guitars, keyboards and a powerful rhythm section, alternating between energetic and more atmospheric passages.

At concerts on the "Back On You" tour, songs from "The Crux" occupied a large part of the programme, but they did not push out earlier favourites. Reports from performances mention "Runner", "Gloom", "Chateau (Feel Alright)", "Roddy", "Flash Mountain" and, of course, "End of Beginning". It is particularly interesting that "End of Beginning" has not always been treated as a predictable closing number; Djo has sometimes placed his biggest hit before the actual finale, leaving room for the concert to end with a more forceful full-band moment.

An even more current indication comes from the performance at Outside Lands in San Francisco in early August 2026. A report from that set mentions "Lonesome Is A State of Mind", "Potion", "Change", "Basic Being Basic", "Charlie's Garden" and "End of Beginning". This is not confirmation of what will be performed in Rome, but it shows that the current repertoire naturally combines "The Crux" with songs from earlier phases.

The audience can therefore expect a concert that shifts between genres: from saturated synthesizer textures to guitar-driven pop with traces of the 1970s, and back towards a more modern indie-pop rhythm.

  • "End of Beginning" remains the song by which the widest audience knows him.
  • "Basic Being Basic" represents the more direct, pop-oriented side of the current phase.
  • "Potion" and "Charlie's Garden" show a more pronounced influence of older pop and psychedelia.
  • "Runner", "Gloom" and "Roddy" connect the new material with the earlier synth-rock period.
  • "The Crux Deluxe" provides an additional pool of newer songs, but their share of the Rome programme has not been confirmed in advance.

Witch Post open the evening

Before Djo, Witch Post, the duo Dylan Fraser and Alaska Reid, will perform. Their name appears alongside Djo at both the Rome and Milan stops on the schedule, so they are part of this Italian segment of the tour. That is a good reason not to arrive at the venue at the last minute: the beginning of the evening has a programme of its own.

The Cavea changes the way this concert is experienced

The Cavea is not a conventional enclosed concert hall. It is an open-air amphitheatre space within the complex designed by Renzo Piano, shaped as a semicircular piazza and summer stage for Roma Summer Fest.

The Auditorium states that, depending on the configuration, the Cavea can accommodate 3,737 people in a seated setup or up to 5,128 when the floor is standing. This does not mean that Djo's Rome concert will necessarily use the maximum configuration, but it gives a good sense of scale: large enough for a powerful communal chorus, yet considerably more intimate than a stadium concert.

For Djo, such a space is interesting because his music constantly changes in density. Softer arrangements and big choruses can make use, during the same evening, of both the openness of the Cavea and the semicircular relationship between the audience and the stage.

One very practical fact also needs to be taken into account: the Cavea is outdoors, and neither the floor nor the stands are covered. The Auditorium states that events in this space may also go ahead in the rain. Visitors travelling to Rome should therefore check the weather conditions immediately before setting out and adjust their clothing accordingly, rather than assuming that an outdoor venue automatically means a postponement in the event of worse weather.

The Rome concert is currently sold out. If individual places nevertheless become available, the level of interest in a first Italian performance of this kind means there is little sense in waiting before making a decision.

Getting to Auditorium Parco della Musica

The address of the complex is Viale Pietro de Coubertin 30, 00196 Roma. For visitors who do not know the city, the simplest option is to plan to arrive by public transport and allow extra time for connections and entry.

The Auditorium lists several direct options:

  • bus 910 connects the Termini area with Piazza Mancini;
  • bus lines 53, 982 and 168 also run on routes serving the Auditorium area;
  • tram 2 runs between Piazzale Flaminio and Piazza Mancini;
  • Metro A can be taken to Flaminio station, followed by tram 2;
  • an alternative is the Roma-Nord railway to Piazza Euclide station.

For those arriving by car, there are two car parks next to the complex: an outdoor one with access from Viale Pietro de Coubertin and a covered multi-storey car park with access from Viale Pietro de Coubertin and/or Viale Maresciallo Pilsudski. Both are paid.

It is particularly useful to know that the Auditorium has a summer closure for regular daytime access during August 2026, but 24 August is an exception specifically because of the concert. On that day, the complex is accessible according to the usual event arrangements, and the box office reopens at 11:00 following the August closure period.

When to arrive

No specific door-opening time has been announced for the event itself. The Auditorium's general rule states that entry to the venue is usually possible from half an hour before the start of an event, unless otherwise indicated on the ticket or in the information for the specific programme. Since Djo performs at 21:30 and the evening includes Witch Post, the most important thing is to follow the information on your own ticket and not plan to arrive right at the start.

The venue rules also state that, once the performance has begun, entry is generally not possible unless the organiser allows late seating in the specific case. This is another reason to plan travel through Rome, parking or connections conservatively.

Who will find this concert particularly interesting

The most devoted fans will have the opportunity to hear several different Djo phases collide within the same concert. Audiences who discovered the project through "End of Beginning" will gain a broader context for that song, while fans of psychedelic pop and indie rock may be just as interested in the band's live aspect as in the hits themselves.

The concert is particularly interesting for those who have followed Djo since "Twenty Twenty" and "DECIDE", for audiences who came in through "The Crux", and for visitors interested in how Joe Keery functions as a frontman. Reviews of recent tours often highlight precisely this transition towards a fully realised band concert.

Rome adds another layer to that story: this is Djo's first encounter with an Italian concert audience. After Milan, the schedule continues towards major European festivals, including Rock en Seine in Paris and Forwards Festival in Bristol, so the Rome evening falls within a packed and already well-established part of the summer tour.

What to check before setting out

Because this is an open-air Cavea and a sold-out event, practical preparation is more valuable than last-minute improvisation. Check the information shown on your own ticket, plan public transport or parking in advance, and bear in mind that entry rules may differ from the complex's regular daytime visitor arrangements.

  • Venue: Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone - Cavea, Viale Pietro de Coubertin 30, Rome.
  • Djo performance start: 21:30.
  • Support act: Witch Post.
  • Event status according to the Auditorium: sold out.
  • The venue is outdoors and the stands are not covered.
  • Usual entry to the venue begins around half an hour before the event, unless otherwise stated for the specific concert.
  • For Metro A, the most practical station is Flaminio, followed by tram 2.
  • For cars, two car parks are available next to the complex, both subject to a fee.

If new ticket availability appears in the run-up to the concert, it is worth checking it without delay. For those who already have a ticket, the more important next step is to arrive early enough that Witch Post does not remain merely a name on the programme and so that the Cavea can be experienced before the lights turn towards the main set.
