Electric Daisy Carnival comes to MedellĂn: a carnival under electric skies
Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) is coming to Colombia for the first time, transforming Unidad Deportiva Atanasio Girardot in MedellĂn into a space dedicated to electronic music, light, and movement on October 10 and 11, 2026. The program on both days runs from 15:00 to 4:00 the following morning, across five iconic EDC stages and the daisyFIELDS and boomboxARTCAR areas.
EDC is not conceived merely as a series of DJ performances. Its identity is shaped by monumental stage designs, costumed dancers, acrobats, art installations, and an audience the festival calls "Headliners". Its range of genres, from house and trance to techno and dubstep, sets it apart from festivals centered around just one musical style.
The festival is organized by Insomniac in collaboration with its Colombian partner PĂĄramo Presenta. EDC began in Los Angeles in 1997 and moved to Las Vegas in 2011. Its Colombian debut brings together international stars and the local club scene. Tickets for this event are in high demand, and certain categories of multi-day passes have already sold out.
First festival night: Alesso, deadmau5, and several different musical directions
Saturday, October 10, on the kineticFIELD stage, takes visitors from house rhythms toward soaring melodies and a finale designed for a broad festival audience. The program there begins with Gaia at 15:00, while Augusto Yepes, MĂSTIZA, Dombresky, and Miss Monique perform throughout the evening. Alok takes the stage at 23:00, followed by deadmau5 at 00:15, Illenium at 1:30, and Alesso from 2:45 to 4:00. The final performances extend into Sunday morning.
Meanwhile, a different sequence unfolds at circuitGROUNDS: Goldie brings drum and bass, Worship continues along that musical path, Vini Vici introduces a stronger psytrance influence, and Bob Moses performs a "Club Set". Above & Beyond are scheduled from 23:30 to 1:00, Richie Hawtin from 1:00 to 2:30, and ARTBAT closes the program at 4:00. Some of these time slots overlap with performances at kineticFIELD.
House enthusiasts and fans of a club-oriented approach should consider neonGARDEN. Later in the evening, Francis Mercier, Carlita, and Beltran perform in succession, followed by Maceo Plex at 1:00 and Jamie Jones at 2:30. stereoBLOOM is appealing to those who want trance: Cosmic Gate performs from 22:45, Infected Mushroom from 1:15, and Astrix from 2:30. Felipe Gordon, Pachanga Boys, and LP Giobbi perform at bionicJUNGLE on the same day. The choice of where to spend the finale depends on musical taste.
Second festival night: Armin van Buuren, Kaskade, and Boris Brejcha
Sunday, October 11, brings a new schedule rather than simply repeating the previous evening. Kaskade performs at kineticFIELD from 22:15. This is followed by a collaborative Afrojack B2B Green Velvet set at 23:30, then Armin van Buuren from 1:00, and finally Colombian producer Funk Tribu from 2:30 to 4:00 on Monday morning. The designation B2B refers to a joint DJ set.
On Sunday, circuitGROUNDS brings together Armand Van Helden, BLOND:ISH, Vintage Culture, and CamelPhat. The final part of the program leads to Boris Brejcha, whose performance is scheduled from 2:30 to 4:00. At the same time, neonGARDEN offers harder techno: 999999999 performs from 23:30, Nico Moreno from 1:00, and Restricted takes over the closing slot at 2:30. These final sets overlap with one another.
The second day also demonstrates the breadth of the musical offering beyond the headliners. bionicJUNGLE features DJ Holographic, Axel Boman, Stavroz in a DJ format, and Carl Craig, followed by a collaborative Ahmed Spins B2B Luch set. On Sunday, stereoBLOOM shifts its focus: alongside Showtek and Coone, Sullivan King, ALLEYCVT, and Deorro also appear. This creates a range extending from house to bass and hard dance music.
How to read the festival map and choose stages
kineticFIELD is the central destination for recognizable major names and EDC's visually spectacular production. circuitGROUNDS offers a broader range of genres, from trance and bass music to techno. neonGARDEN focuses on house and techno, stereoBLOOM emphasizes trance on the first night, and bionicJUNGLE brings together more adventurous club selectors.
Alongside these five stages, the program includes daisyFIELDS and boomboxARTCAR. These areas feature local performers, vinyl sets, and lesser-known artists. On the first day, JuliĂĄn GĂłmez and Morris perform at daisyFIELDS, the latter with a vinyl set, while Athan, Osccurate, and TAMA appear at boomboxARTCAR. Such areas provide opportunities to discover performers outside the main festival circuit.
EDC in MedellĂn also includes the programming concepts Factory 93, Dreamstate, and Time Warp. Their names represent different parts of electronic music culture, from underground techno to trance. Comparing performance times is important because of the many overlaps, and the schedule is subject to change.
Atanasio Girardot: a sports complex becomes a festival venue
The venue is not just the Atanasio Girardot football stadium, but the wider Unidad Deportiva Atanasio Girardot sports complex at Calle 48 # 73-10, in the area of MedellĂn known as Laureles-Estadio. The different stages are distributed throughout the complex, so visitors should expect to walk between them.
MedellĂn lies in the AburrĂĄ Valley, surrounded by Andean slopes. The complex is within the urban area and connected to the public transport network, but visitors should allow enough time for arrival and security screening. According to an estimate by the city administration, around 94,000 visitors are expected over the two festival nights; this is a projection, not a recorded attendance figure.
Single-day and two-day tickets: GA, GA+, and VIP
A two-day ticket is intended for one person for both festival days. The basic GA category provides entry to the festival grounds and access to general areas and stages. Single-day GA tickets are also available for Saturday or Sunday, which makes sense if someone's main interest is limited to performers appearing on just one night. Before choosing a ticket, it is useful to compare the programs for both days.
GA+ upgrades basic access with a faster, separate entrance and higher-quality restroom facilities. VIP includes dedicated viewing areas, relaxation zones, bars, special entrance queues, and additional restroom and service facilities. A SkyDeck experience with tables and table service in a separate area has also been announced. Two-day GA+ and VIP categories are marked as sold out, while single-day GA and two-day GA tickets are listed as currently on sale. It is worth securing tickets in good time, especially before booking travel and accommodation.
Entry, wristbands, and rules worth knowing
The festival program on both days runs from 15:00 to 4:00 the following morning. Identity and admission eligibility are checked at the entrance, and visitors must be at least 18 years old. Valid original government-issued identification documents and passports are accepted; photographs of documents, photocopies, and expired documents are not acceptable. Two-day tickets use an RFID wristband valid for one entry on each day. It cannot be transferred to another person, and re-entry is not permitted on the same day after leaving.
Single-day tickets provide digital access, while the wristband used for spending at the festival is collected inside the venue. The festival operates a cashless system: food, drinks, and festival merchandise are paid for using funds loaded onto the wristband. For two-day visitors, their admission wristband also serves as a payment method. The wristband should not be tightened or activated before arrival, and it is important to keep the two-day wristband until the end of the second day.
- Bags and backpacks must not exceed 30 x 30 x 15 cm; smaller handbags and waist bags are limited to 11 x 16 cm.
- Mobile phones, power banks, earplugs, sunglasses, and suitable empty water containers are allowed.
- Outside food and drinks, large bags, drones, professional recording equipment, weapons, and pyrotechnics are not permitted.
- The festival provides free water refill stations, restroom facilities, information points, and medical stations.
- There is no camping, organized festival parking, or festival shuttle service at the venue.
It is also advisable to check the rules regarding medication, costumes, flags, and larger items before arriving, as additional conditions apply to them. Security checks are conducted throughout the venue, and some areas have limited capacity. Entrances and schedule changes should be checked on the festival map.
Arriving by metro and returning after the music ends
Estadio station on Line B of the Metro de MedellĂn system is particularly convenient for reaching the complex. It is located very close to the sports grounds, so the final part of the journey involves a short walk. Passengers arriving from parts of the city served by Line A can transfer to Line B through the city's metro network. Since the festival does not provide organized parking or a shuttle service, public transport and a prearranged return journey are simpler choices than relying on a car.
Metro de MedellĂn has announced adjusted operations for EDC and other city festivals. In the early morning hours of Sunday, October 11, and Monday, October 12, Lines A and B begin operating as early as 3:30, with Estadio designated as the passenger entry station during this special service period. Only selected exit stations are open, including San Antonio, Poblado, Floresta, San Javier, and La Estrella. An evening timetable extension until 23:30 has also been announced; it does not apply to cable cars, trams, or bus routes. Passengers should check in advance whether they can complete their return journey at a station operating during those hours.
The main international airport, JosĂ© MarĂa CĂłrdova, is located in Rionegro, outside central MedellĂn. Staying near Laureles makes getting to the festival easier, but transport between the airport and the city should be planned separately.
Food, art, and the first-time visitor experience
The festival grounds will feature food and beverage outlets, bar areas, and festival merchandise stands. Free water refills are especially useful when planning long periods between stages. Instead of carrying a large backpack, it is more practical to bring a permitted smaller bag, identification, a fully charged phone, and an empty bottle or other suitable water container. Upon arrival, it is worth first locating water stations, restrooms, an information point, and the route to the chosen stages.
Alongside music, EDC features large stage designs, lighting effects, pyrotechnics, and acrobatic and dance performances. Costumes, illuminated accessories, and dancing are part of the festival's culture. First-time visitors can select a few performances they do not want to miss and leave the rest of their time for discovering smaller stages.
This approach is particularly useful on nights with major scheduling conflicts. On Saturday, for example, Alesso, ARTBAT, Jamie Jones, and Astrix can be heard almost simultaneously during the closing hours; on Sunday, there is a similar choice between Funk Tribu, Boris Brejcha, Restricted, and other performers. Choosing a musical direction saves time moving between stages. Ticket sales for this event are ongoing, and the schedule should be checked once more immediately before departure.
