LIDO in Victoria Park: Maribou State leads the final festival day of the London summer

LIDO returns to Lido Field in London's Victoria Park as a one-day festival combining electronic music, soul, house, drum and bass and the more experimental edges of the contemporary scene. The main act and curator of the programme is Maribou State, while Kelis, Folamour, Theo Parrish b2b Moodymann, DJ Koze, Kelly Lee Owens in a DJ set, Lady Wray, LTJ Bukem, Calibre, Alabaster DePlume, Marie Davidson performing live, MADMADMAD, Oscar Farrell, United Freedom Collective and Yemz have also been confirmed.

The festival takes place on 31 August 2026 in Victoria Park in East London. The main entrance opens at 14:00, while certain ticket categories allow entry up to one hour earlier. Last entry is scheduled for 20:30. Once inside, re-entry to the festival grounds is not permitted.

The programme was originally planned for earlier in the summer, but LIDO was moved to the end of August to provide additional protection for the ground in Victoria Park following a very wet winter and work to restore the grassed areas. Two other planned festival days were not rescheduled, making the date with Maribou State the only LIDO day in 2026. This further underlines its identity: this is not simply a concert with a series of support acts, but a full-day curated cross-section of dance, soul and experimental music.

Maribou State at the centre of the programme

Maribou State consists of Chris Davids and Liam Ivory, friends since their teenage years in Hertfordshire. Their debut album "Portraits" arrived in 2015, while "Kingdoms In Colour" expanded their blend of club electronics, live instruments, soul and more organic textures. Their collaboration with Khruangbin on the track "Feel Good" became one of the defining moments of that period.

Their third album, "Hallucinating Love", was released on 31 January 2025 and includes collaborations with Holly Walker, Andreya Triana, Gaidaa and North Downs. Its sound contains connections to downtempo electronics, soul and various strands of British dance music, from jungle and UK garage to IDM and trance. On 21 August 2026, Maribou State also released the expanded digital edition "Hallucinating Love Deluxe", featuring demos and remixes. LIDO comes at the end of that touring cycle, but without a confirmed setlist in advance there is little point in speculating about which songs they will perform.

Their live identity is important for understanding the festival as a whole. Maribou State is not a project that relies solely on DJ logic: arrangements, vocals, live instruments and electronic production shape the performance in equal measure. That approach naturally connects a concert audience with visitors who come to LIDO primarily for house, disco selections or drum and bass.

A line-up between the dance floor and live performance

Kelis brings a catalogue that crosses the boundaries of R&B, pop, funk and electronic production, with songs such as "Milkshake", "Caught Out There" and "Acapella". Folamour represents French house infused with disco, funk and soul, while his musical journey also includes instrumental experience outside the club format.

The b2b performance by Theo Parrish and Moodymann carries particular weight. Both are strongly connected to the Detroit house scene, but their musical language extends towards soul, disco, jazz and other forms of Black dance music. DJ Koze further expands the club-oriented part of the programme, while Kelly Lee Owens performs in a DJ format.

British drum and bass is represented by LTJ Bukem and Calibre. Alabaster DePlume brings a blend of jazz, improvisation and spoken word, while Marie Davidson performs live. In this way, the festival avoids a format in which every artist revolves around the same tempo and the same type of performance.

The festival app is intended to display the schedule and map once those details are published, and it will allow visitors to create their own schedule. Until the timetable is released, it is better to plan only performance priorities without assuming set times.

Victoria Park is more than just a backdrop

Victoria Park is located in Tower Hamlets, East London, and is one of the city's most historically significant public parks. It opened in 1845 as a space intended for residents of the East End and today covers approximately 86 hectares. The park has a long tradition of community activities, sport, concerts and public events, so LIDO arrives in a space that is deeply integrated into the everyday life of this part of London.

The park's history is also important for understanding the change of date. Following problems with dust during the previous dry summer, reseeding and improvements to the grassed areas were carried out. Because of the very wet winter, it was decided that the ground needed additional time before another series of large events, so LIDO was moved to the end of the summer. A large part of the festival site is grassed, which is practically important when choosing footwear and planning movement around the site.

The festival also attempts to distinguish itself through sustainability. Its published policy includes greater reliance on Victoria Park's connection to the electricity grid, alternative fuels in temporary generators, removal of single-use plastics from public areas, compostable food-service utensils and a zero-waste-to-landfill model. The organisers report a recycling rate of 89 percent for recent festival operations. Free drinking-water points are available on site.

It is worth securing tickets in good time.

Ticket types and festival zones

LIDO is a one-day, fully standing event. General Admission provides access to the main festival area, bars, food zones and other facilities. Primary Entry includes the same basic access but allows entry up to one hour before General Admission opens, which can be useful for visitors who want to familiarise themselves with the layout earlier or secure a position closer to the stage.

VIP Garden is a separate area beside the Main Stage with dedicated entry lanes, its own bar, food options, additional seating and upgraded facilities. VIP Garden + VIP Pit adds a dedicated standing viewing area for performances on the Main Stage, with the option of returning from that area to the general festival grounds. Availability of individual categories may change as the event approaches.

For visitors with disabilities, a Viewing Platform and Ground Level Viewing Area are provided in the Main Stage area. Accessible toilets, a dedicated entry lane and the possibility of a personal assistant under the accessibility conditions are available. Accessible-arrival instructions identify Crown Gate on Grove Road as the entry point, while the distance to the platform by the Main Stage is estimated at approximately 480 metres.

How to get to Victoria Park

The event address is Victoria Park, Grove Road, London E3. For most visitors, London public transport will be the simplest way to get there. Mile End is served by the Central, District and Hammersmith & City lines, while Bethnal Green is served by the Central line. Both stations are approximately 10 to 15 minutes' walk from the park. The Cambridge Heath and Bethnal Green Overground stations are also nearby.

Bus routes 8, 277, 309, 339, 388, D3 and D6 pass close to Victoria Park. After major events finish, diversions and queues may occur at stops. Visitors arriving by bicycle can use a designated bicycle-parking area in Victoria Park, but they should bring their own lock and collect the bicycle on the same day.

The festival has no general parking on site or in the immediate vicinity of Victoria Park. The exception is limited Blue Badge parking for visitors who meet the accessibility requirements and arrange this option in advance. Because of final road closures on Monday, departure from this parking area may be restricted between approximately 20:30 and 23:30.

What to bring and what to leave at your accommodation

A maximum of one bag per person is permitted, approximately A4 size, with maximum dimensions of 297 x 210 x 210 mm. All people and bags are subject to security checks. Larger bags, suitcases and luggage are not permitted.

Food and drink may not be brought in, except for an empty reusable bottle that can be filled inside the festival or water in unopened plastic packaging of up to 500 ml. The festival is cashless, so card or contactless payment is used at bars, food outlets and other points of sale; there are no cash machines on site.

• Bring a small bag or come without a bag to make the security check easier.
• Bring an empty reusable water bottle.
• Do not bring chairs, large umbrellas, glass, selfie sticks, drones, pyrotechnics, bicycles, scooters or professional recording equipment without prior approval.
• Keep in mind that once you enter, you cannot leave and re-enter.
• If you need to bring medication or medical equipment, check the procedure for a medical exemption in advance.

Small picnic blankets may be used in quieter parts of the site away from the stages, but staff may ask for them to be put away if the area becomes crowded. Since this is a fully standing event on grass, comfortable footwear and lightweight equipment are more practical than trying to bring your own seating.

What the day looks like for a first-time visitor

LIDO is a distinctly urban open-air festival: Victoria Park is part of East London, but it is large enough to create the feeling of a self-contained day of music within the festival grounds. Audiences can move from soul and pop through house and disco grooves to drum and bass, improvisation and experimental electronics.

For a first visit, the most practical approach is to arrive early, look at the map, locate water, toilets, the First Aid & Welfare area and the stages, and only then put together a musical plan. Multiple zones and different artist profiles mean that part of the experience will be the movement between major performances and more specialised sets. Once the detailed timetable becomes available, it is a good idea to mark several priorities while leaving enough room for artists you may be hearing live for the first time.

As curator, Maribou State naturally connects these different directions. Their own music already combines live instrumentation, electronic production, soul and the British club tradition, so the selection of Kelis, Folamour, Theo Parrish, Moodymann, LTJ Bukem, Calibre, DJ Koze and Alabaster DePlume feels like an extension of the same idea: a full-day programme between attentive listening and the dance floor.
