Lorde at Rockhal: Ultrasound arrives in Belval at the end of the European summer
Lorde arrives at Rockhal in Esch-sur-Alzette on 1 September 2026 with the "Ultrasound" tour, at a moment when her concert story is once again moving closer to the dance-oriented, electronic and emotionally intense pop that marked the most important phases of her career. The concert takes place in the Main Hall, in a standing configuration, and Rockhal currently lists the event as sold out.
Doors open at 19:00. Although 21:00 appears as the concert time in some event calendars, organiser den Atelier currently still lists the detailed performance schedule as unconfirmed, so visitors should not count on 21:00 as the definitive time for Lorde to take the stage. The support act is Fabiana Palladino.
This date is also the result of a schedule change. The concert was moved to 1 September 2026, with the same venue and basic organisation of the evening, and previously purchased tickets remained valid.
Tickets for this event are in demand. Rockhal's current status is sold out, which is particularly important for visitors planning a trip to Luxembourg primarily because of this performance.
Lorde today: from "Royals" to the completely different energy of the album "Virgin"
Lorde changed expectations of a major pop hit while she was still a teenager. "Solar Power" from 2021 made another turn towards a warmer, more organic and deliberately less explosive sound. With "Virgin", released on 27 June 2025, Lorde changes direction again.

That is precisely why Palladino as the support act at Rockhal is not a random choice from a broader circle of performers. She is also connected to the creative world of the current album, giving the evening a clearer musical link between the opening performance and Lorde's present phase.
"What Was That", "Man of the Year" and "Hammer" define the new concert era
The comeback was first marked by the song "What Was That", Lorde's first new original single after a multi-year break. In its presentation of the concert, Rockhal states that after its release in 2025 the song reached number one on Spotify in the US, along with third place in the United Kingdom and fifth globally on the platform.
It was followed by "Man of the Year", a song that begins almost like a fragile ballad and then expands into a rougher electronic sound. "Hammer" shows the other side of the album - more movement, rhythm and physical energy.
This is important context for the concert. Lorde is no longer an artist who can simply be placed somewhere between alternative and mainstream pop. The current repertoire constantly crosses the boundary between those categories: one moment can be almost silent and uncomfortably intimate, and a few minutes later the same venue can be jumping to "Green Light" or "Supercut".
For audiences who have followed her since "Pure Heroine", "Ultrasound" therefore functions as a cross-section of different versions of the same author. For audiences who discovered her through "Virgin", the older songs show how much today's themes - identity, the body, growing up, self-examination and the need to escape - have actually been present throughout the entire discography.
What previous tour performances reveal about the concert
The exact set list for Rockhal should not be declared known in advance. Lorde has changed the repertoire during the tour, and festival appearances are not completely identical to standalone arena concerts.
Still, recent performances give a good picture of the kind of evening the current phase brings. Tour reviews have noted a combination of material from "Virgin" and older songs such as "Royals", "Supercut", "Team", "Green Light" and "Ribs". "Hammer", "Current Affairs", "Clearblue" and other songs from the new album have also appeared in concerts.
Her major performance at London's All Points East on 22 August 2026, just ten days before the Rockhal concert, further shows the performance form she is in immediately before arriving in Luxembourg. Rolling Stone UK described a production with X-ray and medical motifs connected to the visual identity of "Virgin", precise lighting, lasers and cameras that bring Lorde closer to the audience.
An earlier indoor performance on the tour in Manchester showed similar logic - a physically intense performance, choreographed movements, cameras and production that can simultaneously feel large and uncomfortably close.
That does not mean every one of those elements will be transferred identically to Rockhal. But there is enough continuity for "Ultrasound" to be described as a visually controlled but emotionally very open production in which the stage is not cluttered with decoration. The focus remains on the performer's body, voice, lighting, cameras and sudden shifts in energy.
Why the Main Hall suits this phase of Lorde's music
Rockhal opened in 2005, and its Main Hall can accommodate up to 6,500 people. For Lorde, this concert is set up in a standing configuration.
Such a space suits a repertoire built on contrast. Songs like "Liability" can create a feeling of silence and collective listening even in a large hall, while "Green Light", "Supercut" or the more rhythmic material from "Virgin" require a moving crowd.
The Main Hall is large enough to support a serious concert production, but it is not a stadium-sized space in which a performer necessarily feels distant. The cameras and close-ups used in the current production further reduce that distance.
It is also useful for visitors to know that this is a fully standing configuration. Position in the hall can therefore significantly change the experience. Rockhal is not in the traditional city centre - and that is part of the experience
Rockhal is located in Belval, a former major industrial zone of Esch-sur-Alzette that over recent decades has been transformed into a district of education, culture, housing, business facilities and contemporary architecture.
The most striking reminders of the past are two restored blast furnaces. The steelworks that once defined the appearance and economy of this area today form the backdrop to a concert hall, university campus and new urban district.
This means that a visitor who arrives several hours early is not simply coming to an isolated concert hall. Restaurants, cafés and other facilities can be found in the immediate area, while the industrial architecture gives Belval a visual identity completely different from a typical entertainment district.
For travellers arriving from another country, this is practical because it is not necessary to go to the centre of Esch-sur-Alzette between arrival and the concert. A large part of the evening can be organised around Rockhal and Belval itself.
Arriving by train and bus
For most visitors, the train is the simplest option. Belval-Université station is approximately a two-minute walk from Rockhal.
Public transport in Luxembourg is free in second class for residents and visitors. This includes domestic trains, buses and trams, making Belval very easy to include in a journey via Luxembourg City or other parts of the country.
Rockhal also lists bus connections via TICE lines 3, 4 and 15, along with other lines connecting Belval with Esch-sur-Alzette, Schifflange, Kayl, Differdange, Luxembourg City and surrounding places.

For drivers, Rockhal recommends P+R CFL Belval-Université. The car park is next to the railway station and approximately a two-minute walk from the venue, making it more practical than searching for a space directly around Avenue du Rock'n'Roll.
Additional options in the area include Belval Plaza Parking and Parking Maison du Savoir.
For a sold-out concert, the most important thing is not to plan to arrive at the last minute. Rockhal specifically warns that congestion occurs around major events and recommends arriving earlier. The same applies to the train: the short distance between the station and the venue makes the journey easier, but a large number of people may head towards the same platforms at the same time after the performance ends.
Doors at 19:00, but the final schedule should be checked again
For this concert, doors opening at 19:00 has been confirmed. The support act is Fabiana Palladino, but den Atelier currently marks the detailed evening schedule as TBC.
This is more important than the time that appears on some secondary calendars. A visitor who wants to hear the support act as well should plan arrival around the opening of the doors, rather than according to an assumed time for Lorde to take the stage.
For sold-out evenings, Rockhal generally advises arriving at least 30 minutes before the performer you want to see, but for this concert an earlier arrival has additional value because of the standing configuration.
Entry rules worth knowing before travelling
For this event, the organiser states that children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Children also need their own ticket, while children under 5 will not be admitted.
Rockhal does not allow visitors to bring their own food and drinks. Glass and plastic bottles, recording equipment, cameras, video cameras, laser pointers, knives, smoke devices and other dangerous items are also prohibited. Security staff may search visitors and their belongings upon entry.
Once you leave the venue, there is no re-entry with the same ticket. This is particularly important for smokers and visitors planning to meet friends outside the building during the programme - leaving is considered final.
A cloakroom service is available for bags and jackets, and Rockhal also has lockers of different sizes.
Rockhal accessibility
Rockhal is adapted for wheelchair users and people with reduced mobility. Accessible sanitary facilities, a dedicated entrance and, for concerts without seating, a raised platform are available for visitors who need this type of access.
Some of these services require advance reservation and the number of places is limited. For certain reservations, Rockhal states a deadline of up to 14 days before the event, so visitors who need additional assistance for the 1 September concert should check currently available options before arrival.
Who will enjoy this concert most
The clearest audience is long-time fans who have gone through "Pure Heroine", "Melodrama", "Solar Power" and now "Virgin" with Lorde. The current tour allows her to connect these very different albums in a single evening without trying to make them sound as though they belong to the same phase.
The concert is equally interesting for audiences who enjoy contemporary alternative pop and performers such as Charli xcx, Caroline Polachek, Robyn or other artists who treat the boundary between club sound and a personal singer-songwriter approach as something highly permeable.
"Virgin" may be the most important reason why this concert is not simply a nostalgic evening with "Royals" and "Green Light". Lorde comes to Rockhal with current material that occupies a large part of her present performances and that has pushed the concert production towards harder electronics, more physical movement and distinctly intimate camera work.
The recent London performance showed that the older songs have not lost their role in the process. It is precisely the transitions between the new songs and titles such as "Supercut", "Green Light", "Royals" or "Ribs" that give today's Lorde concert its greatest range.
