Rock The Country in Hastings combines country, rock and a small-town festival format
Rock The Country arrives in Hastings, Michigan, on August 8 and 9, 2026, with the Barry Expo Center once again becoming a major open-air festival venue following the edition held there in 2025. The concept differs from a traditional arena tour: the program moves through smaller American towns, and each stop has its own combination of performers. Hastings is one of seven stops in the 2026 edition, which is connected with the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the United States of America.
The weekend's musical identity sits between contemporary country, country-rock, southern rock and a harder rock sound. Kid Rock headlines Saturday, Jason Aldean Sunday, while Brantley Gilbert, Treaty Oak Revival, Ashley Cooke, Chase Matthew, Uncle Kracker and Shenandoah broaden the range from modern Nashville sound to distinctly guitar-driven country-rock.

Program by day: Kid Rock on Saturday, Jason Aldean on Sunday
Saturday's program is headlined by Kid Rock, a performer whose career combines hard rock, rap-rock and country elements. Joining him are Brantley Gilbert, Ashley Cooke, Uncle Kracker, Cole Goodwin, Demun Jones, Sons of Habit, Ava Hall and Connor Hicks. The first day therefore has a pronounced crossover character, ranging from contemporary country and southern rock to performers who are no strangers to rap and heavier guitars.
Sunday is built around Jason Aldean, one of the recognizable names of modern American country. Joining him are Treaty Oak Revival, Chase Matthew, Shenandoah, The Creekers, Danny Worsnop, Sadie Bass, Colton Bowlin and Scott Wolverton. Treaty Oak Revival combines Red Dirt country, southern rock and post-grunge heaviness, while Danny Worsnop pushes the genre boundaries even further: he is known as the frontman of Asking Alexandria, but in his solo work he has developed the country, blues and rock side of his repertoire.
For a visitor choosing only one day, the difference is clear. Saturday is more focused on Kid Rock's crossover and harder country-rock, while Sunday has a more pronounced contemporary country core around Jason Aldean, with the rock departure of Treaty Oak Revival and Worsnop.
The exact times of individual performances should be checked immediately before arrival. In the information for Hastings, the organizers state that gate opening times and the music schedule are published closer to the festival, so it is not advisable to plan arrival according to old schedules.
Barry Expo Center is a true festival complex
Barry Expo Center is located at 1350 N M-37 Hwy in Hastings. The Barry County Fairgrounds complex covers about 160 acres and includes six barns, three outdoor arenas, a half-mile racetrack, a campground and large parking areas. The venue lists parking for up to 4,000 vehicles and 260 campsites with water and electrical hookups.
For Rock The Country, this means an open festival layout with a main stage, separate viewing areas, food and beverage spaces, camping and additional amenities. A visitor is not coming to a traditional hall with a numbered seat, but to a multi-hour event where the choice of area, arrival time and what they bring with them significantly change the experience.
The previous edition also demonstrated the scale of the event. Local station WBCH, when announcing the festival's return, stated that Rock The Country in Hastings attracted more than 53,000 visitors over two days in 2025. With such an influx of people, arrival by car should be planned with plenty of extra time.
GA, GA+, VIP and Front Porch offer different experiences
The basic GA option provides access to the festival grounds, food and beverage points, festival merchandise and the program, but does not include a reserved seat. GA, GA+ and VIP are essentially standing areas, although the rules allow each visitor to bring one standard folding chair without a bag or cover.
GA+ adds a designated viewing area closer to the stage on its side, a shaded area, separate food and beverage options and an upgraded restroom area with air-conditioned trailers. VIP includes its own area in front of the stage, a separate entrance, an additional shaded area and an air-conditioned lounge with a broadcast of the stage program. For 2026, an expanded food offering curated by chef David Bancroft has also been announced in the VIP area.
Front Porch is a premium category with an elevated view and seating available on a first-come, first-served basis, and it includes dinner and non-alcoholic beverages. This category also allows re-entry to the festival grounds until 21:00 and includes weekend parking.
It is worth securing tickets in time.
Camping extends the festival to three nights
Camping access lasts three nights, from Friday, August 7, to Monday, August 10. Camp check-in is scheduled on Friday from 8:00 to midnight and on Saturday from 6:00 to 9:00. Admission to the music program is not included with camping.
The offer includes RV camping with different hookups, RV camping without hookups and Car + Tent camping. An RV site is approximately 25 x 50 feet and accommodates up to eight guests, while a Car + Tent site measures about 20 x 20 feet and accommodates up to four guests. One camping unit and one vehicle are included in the site arrangement, while additional vehicles use a separate parking area.
Once a vehicle is parked inside the campground, it cannot freely enter and leave during the weekend. The camping wristband, however, allows movement between the campground and the festival grounds. A General Store, food options and programming on the Fan Zone stage have been announced in the campground, while quiet hours run from 2:00 to 8:00.
Entry, wristbands and re-entry rules
The festival is open to all ages, and children up to two years old may enter without a separate ticket. GA, GA+, VIP and Front Porch access use RFID wristbands. Rock The Country is a cashless event: at the venue, visitors should expect to use cards, mobile payments or a registered RFID wristband.
For visitors who are not camping, the re-entry rule is strict. After scanning and entering the festival grounds, leaving for the parking lot means that re-entry is not allowed on the same day. Camping guests may move between the festival and camping areas.
Visitors and bags are screened before entry. A bag does not have to be clear, but it is subject to inspection. An ADA platform with a ramp for wheelchair users is also planned, as well as golf-cart transportation from ADA parking to the entrance.
What may be brought into the festival grounds

- an empty reusable plastic bottle and up to two factory-sealed bottles of water per person
- a mobile phone and portable charger
- sunscreen that is not in aerosol packaging
- an empty personal soft-sided cooler
Prohibited items include weapons, metal cups and metal holders, outside food and beverages, tents and umbrellas, wagons, lasers, fireworks, professional cameras, GoPro devices and audio recording equipment. Pets are not allowed, except for service animals. Free water stations are planned inside the festival grounds.
Parking and traffic require more planning than at a regular concert
Parking is provided separately from the festival ticket, and weekend and single-day options are available. The organizers state that parking lots generally open around noon, but the final time should be checked for the specific day. Overnight parking is not allowed without a camping package or the appropriate additional camping permit.
A rideshare drop-off and pick-up zone is also planned. The precise location will be marked on the final venue map. Hastings and Barry County have local public transportation, but it is a smaller regional network, so visitors should not rely on the assumption that frequent festival services will be available after the final performance.
The experience from 2025 is useful as a warning about the scale of traffic. Barry County Emergency Management warned at the time about congestion on M-37 and M-43 due to the large number of visitors. For 2026, new traffic notices should be monitored because routes, closures and peak times may not be the same as in the previous year.
Hastings is a small town whose rhythm changes suddenly during the festival
Hastings is the seat of Barry County and is located along the Thornapple River. Downtown is home to the Barry County Courthouse, shops and places to eat and drink, making the center practical for a meal or basic supplies before heading toward the festival grounds.
Barry Expo Center is not located in the walkable downtown core itself, so the plan should be built around transportation. If staying in Hastings or the surrounding area, it is useful to decide in advance how to return after the program ends, especially because same-day re-entry is not allowed after leaving the festival area.
What experience awaits a first-time visitor
The main identity of Rock The Country in Hastings comes from the large open space, the long daily sequence of performers, different viewing areas and the campground that extends socializing beyond the times of the main performances. Fan Zone adds a second stage for campers, while food, beverages, festival merchandise and additional amenities are distributed throughout the complex.
The audience will primarily gravitate toward country and country-rock, but the lineup is broad enough to attract listeners of hard rock, southern rock, rap-rock and alternative country as well. Kid Rock and Uncle Kracker provide the crossover element on the first day, while Treaty Oak Revival and Danny Worsnop give the second day a harder edge alongside Jason Aldean.
Three things help a first-time visitor most: a clear transportation plan, a festival area selected in advance and checking the entry rules before departure. Since there is no free return to the car, a forgotten bottle, charger or piece of equipment can mean going without it until the end of the day.

Rock The Country takes place rain or shine, but the program may be temporarily suspended or the grounds evacuated in the event of severe weather conditions. Changes are communicated by text messages, stage video screens and social media. Medical stations are planned both inside the festival and in the campground.
Visitors who use prescribed medication may bring medicines in their original packaging, with a doctor's note when required for the medication or medically necessary food. Lost items are turned in to Guest Services and the Will Call point.
Before departure, the most useful things to check again are the schedule, venue map, traffic notices and any changes to the entry rules. At such a large open-air event, the parking opening time, exact rideshare point and entrance area can be just as important as the lineup itself.
