RosalĂa at Farmasi Arena: LUX TOUR combines orchestra, electronics and pop without a safety net
RosalĂa arrives in Rio de Janeiro with a tour designed as a stage journey through her latest musical phase. The concert at Farmasi Arena is not conceived as an ordinary sequence of hits: the LUX TOUR performances held so far reveal an act-based structure, a strong presence of live musicians, choreography and constant transitions between chamber-like tension, flamenco, electronic impact and widely recognizable pop.
The performance on August 11 is RosalĂa's second consecutive night in the same arena. The date was added following strong demand for the August 10 concert, giving audiences in Rio de Janeiro two performances in a row. This is an important detail for travelers: this is not a brief festival appearance, but a full arena production from the current tour.
Tickets for this event are currently on sale, and it is worth securing them in good time.
From flamenco to the album LUX
RosalĂa has built her distinctive identity on the ability not to treat tradition as a museum exhibit. Flamenco vocals and rhythmic patterns in her music meet experimental pop, reggaeton, industrial electronics, R&B and club production. That is why her concerts attract very different audiences: listeners who discovered her through El Mal Querer, fans of the more radical aesthetic of the album MOTOMAMI and audiences who became familiar with her through singles such as "DESPECHĂ", "SAOKO", "LA FAMA" and "BIZCOCHITO".
The album LUX represents another change of direction. It is her fourth studio album, recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra. The material is divided into four sections, and its sound brings together orchestral arrangements, choral passages, flamenco, fado, pop and electronic music. The voices and collaborators listed on the album include Björk, Carminho, Estrella Morente and SĂlvia PĂ©rez Cruz, as well as the Escolania de Montserrat and OrfeĂł CatalĂ choirs. Their participation in the recording does not mean that they will appear at the concert in Rio de Janeiro.
Songs such as "Sexo, Violencia y Llantas", "Reliquia", "Berghain", "La Perla", "La Yugular", "La Rumba del PerdĂłn" and "Magnolias" define the dramaturgy of this new period. These compositions demand powerful vocals, precise dynamics and enough room for shifts in mood. At the concerts held so far, for example, "Berghain" grows from orchestral tension into a techno trance, while "Magnolias" functions as a calming moment after the visually and sonically dense final section.
What LUX TOUR looks like live
Reports from the beginning of the tour in Lyon describe a performance divided into four acts. RosalĂa appeared accompanied by an orchestral overture, while the stage and floor area were connected by a cross-shaped structure. The orchestra was positioned near the intersection of the walkways through the audience, while the dancers, two performance zones and large screens extended the action beyond a conventional frontal stage.
This arrangement changes the sense of distance. Visitors on the floor do not follow only one point in front of them, while audiences in the stands gain an overview of the choreography, the performers' movements and the geometry of the stage. The final configuration at Farmasi Arena may differ, but the tour production seen so far shows that closeness to the audience is part of the concept rather than a chance moment.
Musically, the concert relies on contrasts. The orchestral and choral textures from LUX transition into harder electronic rhythms, after which older songs receive new arrangement accents. At the first performances of the tour, the older songs included "SAOKO", "LA FAMA", "LA COMBI VERSACE", "BIZCOCHITO", "LA NOCHE DE ANOCHE" and "DESPECHĂ". This is not a guaranteed set list for Rio de Janeiro, because the repertoire may change between cities, but it shows that the new album does not completely displace the more popular parts of the catalog.
The tour's visual language relies on white and black imagery, ballet references, religious iconography, a confessional, staircases, projections and sudden costume changes. In Lyon, translations of lyrics from several languages appeared on the screens, which was particularly useful for the international audience. The production is theatrical, but the musicians are not merely decoration: the orchestra and vocals remain at the center of the performance.
Tickets for this event are in demand, particularly because it is an additional date following the originally scheduled night.
Who this concert is for
Long-standing fans can expect an overview of several phases of RosalĂa's career, although not necessarily in their original studio versions. Songs from the MOTOMAMI period enter into dialogue with the orchestra and more theatrical direction on this tour, so even familiar choruses take on a different weight.
The concert is particularly appealing to audiences who enjoy:
- pop performances with clear dramaturgy, rather than merely a sequence of singles;
- a combination of flamenco, reggaeton, orchestral music and electronics;
- expressive vocals and a performance that moves from intimate singing to physically demanding choreography;
- visually designed tours in which the stage, costumes and lighting follow the content of the songs;
- artists who change arrangements and connect different albums into a new whole.
The broader audience will probably react most quickly to "DESPECHĂ", "LA FAMA", "SAOKO" and "BIZCOCHITO", while listeners of the album LUX will receive a fuller context for its slower, darker and more orchestral sections. Audiences expecting exclusively club-oriented pop should be prepared for longer build-ups, theatrical transitions and moments in which the energy deliberately recedes so that the vocals can come to the foreground.
Farmasi Arena and the sense of space
Farmasi Arena is located in Barra da Tijuca, in the Olympic Park area. It was opened for the 2007 Pan American Games and is used for concerts, sporting competitions, conventions and other formats. For concerts, it can accommodate up to 18,000 visitors, depending on the stage and sector configuration.
The arena has four levels of stands and an adaptable configuration. This is practical for LUX TOUR because the production uses multiple performance points, walkways and choreography that can be read more clearly from elevated sectors. The floor area usually provides a more immediate relationship with the performer, while the stands offer a more complete view of the stage. The enclosed venue also eliminates the effect of wind and rain on the sound and performance, although the actual acoustics will depend on the sector, attendance and sound-system setup.
The complex contains bars, food and beverage points and parking facilities. Given the arena's capacity and the two consecutive concert nights, it is reasonable to expect heavier traffic in the surrounding area before the doors open and after the performance ends. Arriving well before 9:00 p.m. reduces the risk of waiting at the security check and searching for the entrance to the appropriate sector.
Arriving by public transport and car
The arena's address is Avenida Embaixador Abelardo Bueno, 3401, Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro. Farmasi Arena identifies the Rio 2 and Parque OlĂmpico BRT stations as the nearest public transport points, with Parque OlĂmpico located a few minutes' walk from the entrance. The TransCarioca BRT connects the wider area with other transport hubs, including the route toward GaleĂŁo Airport.
Travelers arriving from other parts of Rio de Janeiro should check evening departures and their method of returning after the concert in advance. The event ends late, and the combination of a large audience, ride-hailing vehicles and private cars may slow the exit from the Olympic Park.
Parking is available for those arriving by car, but the number of spaces does not match the arena's total capacity. GL events lists approximately 1,000 parking spaces, while the concert configuration can accommodate up to 18,000 people. Because of this ratio, it is not reasonable to count on finding an available space without allowing additional time. Taxis and ride-hailing applications are more practical for part of the audience, but the pickup point after the concert should be agreed upon clearly enough to avoid searching for the vehicle in the crowd.
Entry time and age rules
For the concert on August 11, the doors open at 6:00 p.m., and the performance is announced to begin at 9:00 p.m. The three hours between opening and the start provide enough time for a large number of visitors to enter, have their tickets checked, pass through security and find their sectors.
The stated age limit for the event is 16. Visitors aged 5 to 15 may enter with a parent or legal guardian, or with an adult third party carrying the appropriate written authorization and documentation. The rules may change by decision of the competent authorities, so it is useful to check them again immediately before departure, especially when a minor is attending without a parent.

What not to bring into the arena
Farmasi Arena's rules for this event list a number of items that are not permitted. These include professional cameras and cameras with detachable lenses, GoPro devices and similar equipment, tablets, laptops, posters, umbrellas, alcoholic beverages, glass containers, pyrotechnics and objects that may cause injuries or fire.
For most visitors, three practical points are the most important. Do not bring a large umbrella even if rain is forecast, leave professional photography equipment at your accommodation and avoid carrying an unnecessarily large bag. Fewer belongings speed up the inspection and make it easier to move through a full arena.
Because the entrances open at 6:00 p.m., audience members who want to settle into their places more calmly can arrive earlier and avoid the largest wave immediately before 9:00 p.m. This is especially useful for visitors with numbered seats on the upper levels and for those visiting the Olympic Park for the first time.
A plan for the evening in Rio de Janeiro
Barra da Tijuca is some distance from the city's historic and tourist center, so the concert should be planned as a separate evening outing rather than as a brief detour during a tour of the center. There are many hotels around the Olympic Park and Riocentro, which can be practical for visitors traveling primarily for the concert or wishing to avoid a late return across the city.
August in Rio de Janeiro falls within the milder and drier part of the year, but evening temperatures and the possibility of rain should still be checked on the day of the event. The concert takes place in an enclosed arena, but part of the waiting, arrival and return takes place outdoors. A light layered garment is more practical than a bulky jacket, particularly because umbrellas are not permitted inside the event venue.
It is worth securing tickets in good time and then organizing transport, entry documents and the return plan separately. For a concert that relies on precise dramaturgy, it is useful to be at the venue before the beginning: the opening section is not merely a warm-up, but the start of the story that the tour develops through four acts.
