Gorillaz are Saturday's headliner, but the daily programme covers all three stages. Los Bitchos, Sleaford Mods and Kneecap have been announced for the main stage on the same day. That combination clearly explains the festival's profile: instrumental groove, British post-punk, political rap and multimedia pop stand within the same evening sequence.
On the other stages, the programme includes Apashe & Brass Orchestra, Hayes & Y, Жлъч / Гена, Jin Monic, Raredub, KiNK, HAAi and Sofia Kourtesis. Visitors therefore have to choose between simultaneous performances, and transitions between the stages become part of the experience. The best approach is to mark two or three priorities before Gorillaz in advance and leave enough time for moving through the area, food, water and entry checks.
The gates open at 17:30, the first performances begin at 18:00, and the music continues until approximately 01:45. Plovdiv Rowing Canal as a concert venue

At the same time, proximity to the performer depends on the time of arrival and the chosen position. Anyone wishing to be in the front section for Gorillaz must be prepared for longer periods of standing and a denser crowd, while more distant areas are better suited to visitors who value a clear view of the screens, an easier exit and access to facilities.
In an open-air space, the position in relation to the main speakers affects the clarity of the vocals and bass. The large screens are especially important because Hewlett's animations are not decoration, but part of the storytelling.
A summer event beside the water requires practical preparation. The sun is strong during the earlier part of the programme, while after sunset humidity and a greater presence of insects may be noticeable. A hat, sunscreen, light clothing, comfortable footwear and a repellent that is not in an aerosol container make more sense than elaborate festival attire. A lightweight rain poncho should be brought instead of an umbrella.
Arrival, entrances and returning after the concert
The main access point to the festival area is located on the side of Koprivshtitsa Boulevard. City bus routes 10, 15, 17, 22, 37 and 44 pass nearby. A parking space is not included with the ticket, and capacity in the surrounding area is limited, so public transport, an organised transfer or a taxi is more practical than arriving in a private car.
For visitors staying in the central part of Plovdiv, transfers are available between the Trimontium area and the festival zone, with departures to the event at 16:00 and 17:00 and a return at 01:45. There is also a transfer from Sofia with a return during the night. A place on the transfer is tied to a specific date and departure, so all information on the booking confirmation should be checked before the journey.
After the end of the main performance, visitors should not expect to leave immediately. A large number of people move towards the exits at the same time, the mobile network may be overloaded, and transport vehicles will be in demand. It is useful to agree on a meeting point in advance and save the accommodation address offline.
What to bring and what to leave at the accommodation
- A small bag or backpack of up to 15 litres is permitted, with approximate dimensions of 35 x 25 x 12 centimetres.
- A plastic water bottle of up to 0.75 litres may be brought in, but the cap is removed at the entrance.
- Sunscreen, a power bank, an identity document, a bank card and a lightweight rain poncho are useful.
- Outside food and alcohol, glass containers, umbrellas, chairs, large backpacks, professional photographic equipment, GoPro cameras, drones and selfie sticks are not permitted.
- Multiple entries and exits during the same festival day are not permitted, so everything needed should be prepared before passing through the checks.
- Payment in the food areas is cashless, using a personal contactless card, phone or watch.
Photography with a phone and a compact camera without an interchangeable lens is permitted. Hearing protection is recommended for music at this volume, especially for children and visitors planning to spend several hours near the stage.
Plovdiv before and after the festival evening
Plovdiv is suitable for travellers who want to combine the concert with a short cultural stay. The Old Town, Ancient Theatre of Philippopolis, Roman Stadium and the creative Kapana district are located within the compact city centre and can be explored on foot.
For Saturday, it is sensible to plan some light sightseeing, a lunch break and rest, followed by departure for the canal before the largest crowds. The July heat and prolonged standing can easily drain energy before the main concert.
Accommodation in the centre makes it easier to use the transfers and return to the pedestrian zone after the event, while locations closer to the canal shorten the final part of the journey. In both cases, late check-in and the possibility of entering the property after midnight should be verified.
A practical plan for Saturday
- Before departure, save the ticket on your phone or in a digital wallet and take a screenshot in case of a weak signal.
- Arrive before the busiest period from 19:00 to 21:00 if you want a calmer passage through the checks and time to familiarise yourself with the area.
- Choose your priorities across all three stages, but leave a buffer between performances because distance, crowds and queues slow movement.
- Before Gorillaz, refill your water and finish buying food so that you do not have to leave your chosen position in the audience.
- Agree on a meeting place and a way to return before the evening programme begins.
Ticket sales for this event are ongoing. One-day access covers all stages on 18 July, so the value of the evening increases most when the broader programme is used, rather than only the final performance.
Gorillaz arrive in Plovdiv at a moment when their history and their new phase appear equally important.
