Kraftwerk brings precise architecture of sound and image to Calvià
Kraftwerk will perform on August 5, 2026, at the Mallorca Live venue in Calvià, as part of the Es Jardí summer series. Their influence can be heard in techno, electro, hip-hop, synth-pop, industrial music and contemporary club production. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inducted them in 2021 in the category of musical influence, the Recording Academy presented them with a Lifetime Achievement Award, and "3-D The Catalogue" won the Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Album.
For the audience in Calvià, more important than the awards will be the fact that this historic catalogue is not performed as a museum exhibit. On stage, Kraftwerk constantly adapts the details of sound and image to contemporary technology. The old compositions remain recognisable, but their geometry, dynamics and visual rhythm feel like current design rather than a nostalgic reconstruction.
The current phase of their career: "Radio-Activity" back at the centre
The concert comes in the year marking the 50th anniversary of the album "Radio-Activity". A new edition was released on May 15, 2026, with a Dolby Atmos mix reconstructed from the original 16-track tapes at the Kling Klang studio. Ralf Hütter and Fritz Hilpert worked on the project, which aptly describes Kraftwerk's current phase: instead of racing to produce a traditional new album, the group is reopening its own catalogue and adapting it to contemporary ways of listening.
"Radio-Activity" was the group's first fully electronic album. Its themes - radio communication, energy, danger and the invisible signal - have a different context today than they did in the mid-1970s, but they have not lost their tension. The two July concerts lasted approximately two hours, but this does not confirm the duration of the performance in Calvià. Because individual announcements differ regarding the exact time the group will take the stage, the most reliable option is to check the schedule stated on your own ticket immediately before arrival.
A 3D concert in which the visuals are not a backdrop
A 3D audiovisual format has been confirmed for Kraftwerk. With this group, projections are not decoration behind the musicians but an equal part of the composition. Numbers, motorways, trains, cyclists, robots, atomic symbols and digital networks accompany the music in precisely timed sequences. When the rhythm changes, the way the image moves changes as well; when the vocal is reduced to a robotic phrase, the visual often assumes the role of narrator.

The Es Jardí open-air venue and the concert experience
The concert will be held at Recinto Mallorca Live, on the site of the former Aquapark in Calvià, near the intersection of Camí de Cala Figuera and Camí Porrasa. The location is approximately a 20-minute drive from the centre of Palma, depending on traffic. It is an open-air venue surrounded by Mediterranean scenery, so the evening air and the visual breadth of the space will create a different setting from an enclosed concert hall.
Es Jardí renewed its infrastructure for the 2026 season. The main stage received a design inspired by the Mediterranean landscape and side LED screens, which is important information for a concert in which the image is as important as the sound. Alongside the main concert area, there are gastronomic zones, a market featuring local design and products, and areas intended for different ticket categories. The grandstand offers reserved seating and a frontal view, while other zones are intended for standing or additional services.

Getting to Calvià, parking and travelling after the concert
Visitors arriving from outside Mallorca most commonly travel via Son Sant Joan Airport or the Port of Palma. The airport is located around 8 kilometres from Palma, and the TIB network connects the airport with places in the municipality of Calvià, including Magaluf and Palmanova. For the journey to the concert venue itself, the current route and the last evening departure should be checked, because summer timetables and special traffic measures may change.
Free parking has been announced for visitors arriving by car on the main access routes and at the Western Park car park, subject to availability. This is not a guarantee that a space will be available for those arriving later. Calvià experiences heavy traffic in August, so it is sensible to leave earlier, particularly if entry, security checks and locating the correct zone require additional time.
A taxi or prearranged transport may be practical for the return journey towards Palma, Magaluf, Palmanova or Santa Ponça. Crowds should be expected after the concert, so a meeting point with the driver should be arranged in advance.

The organiser states that digital scanning is possible, but a printout may help if the screen or connection fails.
