Arriving by train, bus, car and aeroplane
Dundee has good rail connections with other parts of Scotland and cities in England. The railway station is located opposite V&A Dundee and RRS Discovery, a short walk from Slessor Gardens. This is the simplest option for visitors who want to avoid traffic restrictions, searching for parking and driving after an all-day programme.
The main bus station in Seagate is connected to local and long-distance routes. For the specific day of the event, the timetable should always be checked before departure, particularly because routes may change during major concerts.
Drivers enter Dundee via the A90 and A92 road routes, while the M90 connects with the wider Scottish motorway network. Several car parks are available in the city centre. Dundee City Council states that charges at its car parks apply from 8:00 to 20:00 every day, with entry and exit available 24 hours a day. The signs at each individual car park take precedence because operating arrangements and restrictions may vary.
Dundee Airport is located approximately three kilometres west of the city centre.
Because the 2026 event has been postponed, travellers should not use old traffic notices as a current plan. Road closures, temporary bus stops and taxi arrangements are published separately for each concert weekend.
Entry rules to keep in mind for 2027
The opening time of the gates and the end time of the programme have not yet been specified for the new date. However, general rules have been published that can help with planning:
- visitors under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult
- re-entry after leaving is generally not permitted, except when the security service approves an exception because of an emergency
- food and drink may not be brought inside, except when medically justified

- gazebos and blankets are not permitted
These rules may affect the experience of an all-day programme more than that of a shorter evening concert. Visitors should expect prolonged standing or check in advance whether the folding-chair area suits them. Practical footwear and clothing for changeable weather are useful for an open grassed area.
What to do with tickets purchased for 2026
The organiser has specified three options for existing tickets. The first is to retain the ticket, which will become valid for one of the confirmed festival days from 22 to 25 July 2027. An additional free ticket for one day of the holder's choice in 2027 has also been announced with each retained ticket.
The second option is an exchange for Summer's End Angus, an event planned from 14 to 16 August 2026 near Brechin. The third is to request a refund through the outlet from which the ticket was purchased.
Ticket holders should choose the option that suits their plans in good time, but before making a final decision it is worth waiting for the announcement of the 2027 line-up. The organiser explicitly warns that not all performers from the 2026 programme may be available for the new date.
For audiences who want to see Tony Hadley exclusively, the most important point is not to confuse the validity of the old ticket with confirmation of his performance. The ticket may be valid for 2027 while the performer is still not part of the announced programme. Dundee as a base for a concert weekend
The central location of Slessor Gardens makes it possible to combine the musical event with a short city break. V&A Dundee, RRS Discovery, restaurants and city services are located near the waterfront.
When booking accommodation, it should be taken into account that the new Discovery Festival has been expanded to four days. Higher demand may not be distributed evenly throughout the entire weekend because it will depend on the performers announced later. Flexible accommodation and transport bookings are sensible until the daily schedules have been published.
Visitors who already have bookings for July 2026 should check the cancellation conditions directly with their transport provider and accommodation. Festival tickets and privately arranged travel expenses are not the same thing, so a change to the event does not automatically mean that all related costs will be refunded.
