In pre-season, Auxerre, among other results, beat Lusitanos Saint-Maur 5-2, lost 1-2 to Orléans, drew 1-1 with Sochaux and 1-1 with Troyes, and won its final warm-up match against Werder Bremen 1-0. The results show a team-building process, not the team's final level.
Angers begins a new chapter with Stéphane Gilli
Stéphane Gilli took charge of Angers after Alexandre Dujeux's departure. The new coach previously managed Paris FC, with whom he secured promotion back to Ligue 1, and he also brought part of his previous coaching staff to Angers. At the same time, the club retained a large part of the core of the squad, which can help stability in the early rounds.
The most notable change in goal is the arrival of Anthony Lopes. In midfield, Branco van den Boomen remained at Angers on a permanent basis, while Amine El Ouazzani joined the attack on loan from Braga. The summer works around Route de Vaux should improve safety and access organisation, but precisely because of the changes to traffic arrangements, planning to arrive at the last moment is not advisable. For previous home matches, the club introduced a security perimeter and closed parts of the roads several hours before kick-off.
