The final pre-season match provided a good example of both the possibilities and the risks. FC Utrecht lost 0-1 to Sevilla FC at Stadion Galgenwaard. The hosts started energetically, David Min was involved in an early situation from which the ball struck the post, and Dani de Wit found the net before the break after a corner, but the goal was disallowed because of a foul in the preceding situation. The only goal that counted came after Utrecht lost possession while building an attack.
Playing out from the first phase of attack will be one of the more important themes against AZ. The Alkmaar side have enough speed to punish a lost ball in the middle zone, so Vasilis Barkas and the defensive line will have to choose when to play short and when to bypass the first line of pressure. Stadion Galgenwaard is located at Herculesplein 241 in Utrecht and has a capacity of 23,750 spectators. It has four main stands: Noordtribune, Zuidtribune, Bunnikside and Cityside. How to get to the match
For August 15, FC Utrecht published special information regarding access to the stadium. The entrances to Stadion Galgenwaard open at 17.15, an hour and a half before kick-off. Tram 22 will not operate that day because of construction work, so replacement bus services will operate between Utrecht Centraal and the stadium.

P4 on Sorbonnelaan is approximately a 15-minute walk from the stadium. FC Utrecht also warns that parking in the surrounding residential neighbourhoods is not permitted in the manner intended for match visitors. The City of Utrecht recommends public transport on home matchdays because traffic in the immediate vicinity of the stadium is restricted before kick-off.
A separate arrival regime applies to travelling AZ supporters. For this match, the club has announced organised arrival by bus or car under special conditions for the away section. Visitors travelling under this arrangement should follow the assigned route and the rules for P0, without planning a spontaneous trip into the city centre before the match.
What supporters should watch from the first whistle
The opening fifteen minutes can provide a very good indication of what kind of match we will see. If Utrecht push the full-backs forward, move Dani de Wit closer to the attackers and press AZ high, the match could develop a more open rhythm. If AZ bypass that pressure without difficulty, Daal and the other wingers will have space to attack the last line.
Daal's positioning is particularly worth watching. The young attacker has already scored against PSV and ADO, and against the latter he was also involved in the move for the second goal in addition to scoring himself. The simplest plan for international visitors arriving by train is to reach Utrecht early enough for a walk through the historic centre, then return towards Utrecht Centraal and use the replacement bus to the stadium. Because of the work on the tram network, it is not advisable to rely on the usual tram connection for this specific date.
For drivers, having parking arranged in advance is more important than the distance to the stadium itself. P3 is located by the sports hall, while P4 is in the Utrecht Science Park area and requires a short walk. Traffic around Galgenwaard is regulated more strictly on matchdays than on ordinary days.
