Ferencváros enter the match after four European games without defeat. Górnik arrive from a tie in which they showed against Fenerbahçe that they can remain competitive even against an individually stronger opponent. The Polish club were eliminated 2-1 on aggregate, but they drew the home return leg 1-1 and remained in contention until the final minutes.
Tickets for this encounter are in demand among supporters because it is the first match of the tie, it has an evening kick-off and it features two clubs with strong local support. Ferencváros scored nine goals in four European matches, but conceded four in their domestic league defeat away to Paks. Górnik conceded only two goals in two matches against Fenerbahçe, demonstrating the ability of Michal Gašparík's team to remain compact. At the same time, the Polish side did not create a large number of clear opportunities, so their ability to move forward in Budapest will be just as important as their defensive discipline.
Ferencváros seek width, pace and another scoring run from Lenny Joseph
Balázs Borbély has a team capable of switching its formation between 4-3-3 and a variation with a more pronounced player behind the striker. In the most recent European return leg, he relied on Dénes Dibusz in goal, Attila Osváth, Mariano Gómez, Toon Raemaekers and Cadu in defence, and Rommens, Gavriel Kanichowsky and Márius Corbu in midfield. Kristoffer Zachariassen, Lenny Joseph and Callum O'Dowda played in attack.
The greatest threat in the qualifying campaign so far has been Lenny Joseph. He scored both goals in the away victory against Twente and then also found the net in the return leg. His movement between the centre-back and the full-back creates space for the wingers and midfielders arriving from deeper positions. Ferencváros therefore do not need to build every attack through lengthy possession; they can bypass the first line of pressure and quickly look for Joseph in behind.
Raemaekers contributed a goal against Twente from the defensive line, Kanichowsky brings composure to the distribution, while Zachariassen is useful because of his runs into the penalty area. O'Dowda provides width and running on the left side. Dibusz is important as captain and as a goalkeeper who directs the last line when the team presses high.
Borbély must nevertheless solve a problem in midfield. Rommens was sent off against Twente and cannot play in the first match against Górnik. Without his passing and control of the tempo, Ferencváros may become more direct, but also more vulnerable after losing the ball. One option is to give Bence Ötvös additional minutes or move Corbu into a deeper role, with Kanichowsky assuming greater responsibility for organising the attack.
The schedule is not insignificant either. Ferencváros play a domestic league match against Vasas on 2 August, only three days before facing Górnik. In the return leg against Fenerbahçe, he used Philipp Schulze in goal, Rafał Janicki, Josema Sánchez, Maximilian Dietz and Erik Janža in defence, with Sáček and Lukáš Sadílek providing the foundation in midfield. Kacper Urbański, Taofeek Ismaheel and Yvan Ikia Dimi linked the midfield with Erik Prekop.
Sáček can cover a large area, close down the flank and appear in the finishing phase. His goal against Fenerbahçe came after a patiently constructed move and a run from deep. Janža brings experience and a high-quality left foot, while Ismaheel can carry the ball through open space when Ferencváros lose possession high up the pitch. Prekop operates as the focal point of the attack, while Urbański searches for space between the lines.
The most important question for the visitors will be how high they are allowed to push. If they retreat too deeply, Ferencváros will continuously fill the penalty area and win set pieces. If they press too high, Joseph and the wingers can attack the space behind the last line. Gašparík is therefore unlikely to demand constant pressing, but rather selected moments following a back pass towards Dibusz or when a home full-back receives the ball near the touchline.

The Groupama Aréna is located at Üllői út 129. The simplest way to travel from central Budapest is by public transport. Népliget station is connected to the M3 metro line and tram number 1, and the stadium is a short walk away.

- Tram: line 1 also stops at Népliget.
- Arrival: plan to arrive at least 90 minutes before kick-off.
- Entrances: the gates open two hours before the match, and the section determines the group of turnstiles.
- Car: parking near the stadium may be subject to a special traffic regime, so using a P+R facility and continuing by public transport is a safer option.
The complex includes outdoor parking spaces and an underground garage, but the normal capacity does not mean that all spaces will be available to spectators. Major events may lead to temporary stopping restrictions or traffic diversions around Üllői út.
