Kvarner before 2026 as a European region of gastronomy: trainings in Rijeka and the Rijeka Ring raise standards

Kvarner is entering the final phase of preparations for the title European Region of Gastronomy 2026, with two days of training in Rijeka and the Rijeka Ring. Caterers, producers and the tourism sector are aligning standards, strengthening local chains and branding heritage dishes, indigenous wines and olive oils, so guests can experience authentic flavors from the sea to the mountains throughout the year.

A mosaic of tastes and experiences: the Trsat Castle has become the stage of the indigenous gastronomy of Rijeka and the Rijeka Ring

The Trsat Castle hosted the "Mosaic of Taste and Experience" event, which presented the entire gastronomic treasure of Rijeka and the seven municipalities of the Rijeka Ring. From Kastav Belica and Grobnik cheese to Bakar Baškot and Kostren squid, autochthonous products and traditional dishes have shown the strength of Kvarner as a future European region of gastronomy.
