Foro Boca

Foro Boca is one of the most architecturally distinctive concert halls on Mexico’s Gulf Coast. Designed by Rojkind Arquitectos, the building is defined by massive exposed-concrete volumes inspired by the geometry of the concrete blocks forming the nearby breakwater. Its main auditorium, Sala Mester, accommodates around 960 visitors and was designed for concerts as well as theatre, dance and other stage productions.

Inside, particular attention is given to acoustics and clear views of the stage. Sala Mester features a specially designed acoustic shell and seating arranged to provide strong sightlines from different parts of the auditorium. The complex also includes a smaller multifunctional hall, a spacious lobby and additional areas for cultural programming, allowing Foro Boca to host a wide variety of event formats.

The venue is located at Boulevard Vicente Fox Quesada, Boca del Río, Mexico, directly beside the waterfront and the mouth of the Jamapa River. The main approach leads across the open plaza in front of the venue’s distinctive concrete façade, while the official parking area for cars and motorcycles is located beside Foro Boca around the intersection of Avenida Independencia and Calle Malpica; spaces are limited. Boca del Río, a coastal city in the state of Veracruz and part of the wider metropolitan area shared with the port city of Veracruz, has developed into an important hub for entertainment, sports, conventions and concerts on Mexico’s Gulf of Mexico coast. Public transport in the conurbation includes the Ulúa bus system, while taxis provide an additional option for more direct connections between hotels, the waterfront, stadiums and event venues. Major urban routes such as Boulevard Manuel Ávila Camacho and Boulevard Adolfo Ruiz Cortines connect the tourist and business districts with the rest of the metropolitan area, making journeys between accommodation, World Trade Center Veracruz, sports facilities and other event locations easy to organize.

Before or after a concert or match, it is worth exploring the Boca del Río waterfront, the Jamapa River and Plaza Banderas, one of the recognizable places in the city’s traditional center. Foro Boca stands near the area where the river meets the sea and provides an excellent reason for a waterfront walk, while the historic part of the city features the Palacio Municipal and Plaza Cívica Benito Juárez. A visit can also easily be extended to the nearby historic center of the port city of Veracruz, allowing Boca del Río to combine sports or music with beaches, local cuisine, river scenery and the distinctive atmosphere of Mexico’s Gulf coast.
