Stadthalle Göttingen

Stadthalle Göttingen is a modern multipurpose venue and one of Göttingen's important locations for concerts, stage shows, comedy, classical music, conferences and other large events. Following an extensive modernization, the building combines its recognizable architectural character with contemporary stage and technical infrastructure. Its main hall covers approximately 612 m² and can accommodate up to around 1,780 visitors in an unseated configuration or up to 1,174 guests for fully seated events.

Acoustics are a particular strength of the venue. The main hall features adaptable acoustic elements and a system designed to adjust the room to different types of performances, from orchestral concerts to rock shows and spoken-word events. Modernized foyers, cloakroom facilities and accessible amenities make the visit more comfortable before and during events, while drinks and light snacks are available at most public performances.

The venue is located at Jina-Mahsa-Amini-Platz 1, 37073 Göttingen, Germany. The main entrance faces the square, with the paid Albaniplatz car park immediately beside the venue and additional parking available at Hainholzweg; parking capacity in the immediate area is limited. The nearest bus stop is approximately one minute away on foot, providing convenient access to the entrance. Göttingen, a lively university city in southern Lower Saxony, combines a strong cultural scene with a compact city centre and a diverse range of events. The city is known for venues such as LOKHALLE Göttingen and Stadthalle Göttingen, which host concerts, shows, sporting events, trade fairs and other major programmes. Thanks to its university character, Göttingen has a lively atmosphere throughout the year, with numerous restaurants, bars and places to socialise. Accommodation options include hotels and other places to stay in the city centre and its immediate surroundings, making it easy to combine an event visit with a short city break.

Transport connections are one of Göttingen's major advantages for event visitors. The main railway station, Göttingen, is an important stop on Germany's ICE high-speed rail network, while city bus services operated by Göttinger Verkehrsbetriebe (GöVB) connect the railway station and ZOB with the city centre, university areas and other districts. Regional connections are integrated into the Verkehrsverbund Süd-Niedersachsen (VSN) network, making travel from surrounding towns even easier. LOKHALLE is located immediately next to the railway station, while the city centre and other important event locations can be reached on foot or by local bus, making arrival without a car particularly convenient.

Before or after a concert, match or other event, it is worth exploring Göttingen's historic centre. At its heart is the Marktplatz, with the famous Gänseliesel fountain and statue in front of the medieval Altes Rathaus, while the surrounding streets are filled with historic half-timbered houses, churches and buildings associated with the city's long university tradition. For a quieter walk, visitors can follow the former city fortifications, now transformed into a green promenade, or visit the Old Botanical Garden. The combination of historic architecture, student energy and a compact urban core makes Göttingen a practical and interesting destination for visitors who want to combine an event with discovering the city.
