At Ljeto kod Matoša, the best food is served – Italian panini sandwiches, tacos & tortillas, bao buns, burgers, burratas, bubble waffles, and let's not forget the cocktails...

Zagreb, July 3, 2024 – For the next month, Trg braće Mažuranića in the center of Zagreb becomes a gastronomic hub thanks to Ljeto kod Matoša. The event offers all the necessary ingredients for unforgettable hot days in the city, with DJ and band rhythms in the shade of old chestnut trees, and plenty of options for food and drink.

Eight food stalls offer a diverse range of classic and modern flavors, with numerous toppings and sides, as well as refreshing drinks and cocktails. The only dilemma is – what to choose?

Italian panini sandwiches, tacos & tortillas, bao buns, burgers, burratas, bubble waffles, and let's not forget the cocktails...

At the Oh La La stall, authentic Italian burrata filled with Genovese pesto, smoked salmon, sprinkled with Grana Padano cheese and arugula, is offered, and for the finishing touch, crema di aceto balsamico is drizzled on top. For refreshment, there's the indispensable summer dessert – ice cream.

Although it may sound unusual, at the Cugeraj stall, food like tacos, which are not tasted every day, is offered. Carne asada taco hides marinated steak, guacamole sauce, pickled onions, coriander, and chimichurri. Hot juicy pork taco comes with marinated pork butt, hot mango salsa, red cabbage, cream, lime, and coriander. Chicken taco consists of marinated chicken fillet, garlic and coriander sauce, pickled kohlrabi, coriander, and feta cheese. Sauces are not store-bought; everything is made from fresh fruits and vegetables. The stars among the cocktails are Frozen margarita, Passionfruit collins, and Mango mule, and there's also a homemade radler made from squeezed grapefruit and lemon with draft beer.

At the Shank stall, you can taste a great combination of Asian food. Highlights include popular bao buns with pork or shrimp, gyozas, chicken katsu sando, and tempura shrimps, and for dessert, there's the Japanese sticky mochi cake in various flavors.

The specialties of the Kužina stall are Smash beef tortilla made from 100% beef, cheddar, iceberg lettuce, pickles, pancetta, fried onions, and signature sauce. The beefsteak sandwich consists of ciabatta, truffle mayonnaise, arugula, smoked cheese, and garlic sprouts. The Big Mac salad with iceberg lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, 100% beef, and signature sauce. They also have chicken strips with fries and sauce, veggie spring rolls with sweet chili sauce and sesame, beef empanadas with spices, sweet potato fries with Grana Padano, and regular fries with sauce on the side. For those with a sweet tooth, there are brownies with vanilla ice cream and bubble waffles with chocolate and ice cream.

Cheese classic burger, Bacon burger, Crispy Chicken burger, french fries, sweet potato, and Pommes special can be found at the Bit burger stall. The Panini stall prepares sandwiches in focaccia – Caprese, Mortadella genovese, Quattro formaggi, Prosciutto, and Napoli picante.

The Moose stall prepares irresistible cocktails such as Pink gin tonic, Blueberry gin tonic, Cosmopolitan, Paloma, Strawberry Lemonade, and Peach Tea with vodka. The Monkey stall welcomes visitors with refreshments like Raspberry skinny bitch, Liquid Cocaine, El Diablo, and Spicy mojito with ginger.

After food and drinks – everyone for photos!

After the gastronomic hedonism at Mažuranac, everything should be immortalized for long-lasting memories. At every step, there are charming photo points for the best selfies and photos with friends. Ljeto kod Matoša is the only event that creates a homely atmosphere with its scenography and ambiance, making everyone feel like they are in their living room.

Ljeto kod Matoša lasts until July 27, and the event's working hours are from Monday to Thursday from 4 PM to 11 PM, on Fridays from 4 PM to midnight, on Saturdays from 10 AM to midnight, and on Sundays from 10 AM to 11 PM. Tourism desk

Our Travel Desk was born out of a long-standing passion for travel, discovering new places, and serious journalism. Behind every article stand people who have been living tourism for decades – as travelers, tourism workers, guides, hosts, editors, and reporters. For more than thirty years, destinations, seasonal trends, infrastructure development, changes in travelers’ habits, and everything that turns a trip into an experience – and not just a ticket and an accommodation reservation – have been closely followed. These experiences are transformed into articles conceived as a companion to the reader: honest, informed, and always on the traveler’s side.

At the Travel Desk, we write from the perspective of someone who has truly walked the cobblestones of old towns, taken local buses, waited for the ferry in peak season, and searched for a hidden café in a small alley far from the postcards. Every destination is observed from multiple angles – how travelers experience it, what the locals say about it, what stories are hidden in museums and monuments, but also what the real quality of accommodation, beaches, transport links, and amenities is. Instead of generic descriptions, the focus is on concrete advice, real impressions, and details that are hard to find in official brochures.

Special attention is given to conversations with restaurateurs, private accommodation hosts, local guides, tourism workers, and people who make a living from travelers, as well as those who are only just trying to develop lesser-known destinations. Through such conversations, stories arise that do not show only the most famous attractions but also the rhythm of everyday life, habits, local cuisine, customs, and small rituals that make every place unique. The Travel Desk strives to record this layer of reality and convey it in articles that connect facts with emotion.

The content does not stop at classic travelogues. It also covers topics such as sustainable tourism, off-season travel, safety on the road, responsible behavior towards the local community and nature, as well as practical aspects like public transport, prices, recommended neighborhoods to stay in, and getting your bearings on the ground. Every article goes through a phase of research, fact-checking, and editing to ensure that the information is accurate, clear, and applicable in real situations – from a short weekend trip to a longer stay in a country or city.

The goal of the Travel Desk is that, after reading an article, the reader feels as if they have spoken to someone who has already been there, tried everything, and is now honestly sharing what is worth seeing, what to skip, and where those moments are hidden that turn a trip into a memory. That is why every new story is built slowly and carefully, with respect for the place it is about and for the people who will choose their next destination based on these words.
