Free guided walks in Zagreb in September: explore cultural heritage, history and interesting stories through five themed tours

The Zagreb Tourist Board organizes free thematic walks for citizens during September, providing an opportunity to get to know the history, culture and attractions of Zagreb through five unique tours accompanied by a tourist guide.

In September 2024, the Tourist Board of the City of Zagreb organizes a series of free thematic walks aimed at Zagreb residents who wish to get to know their city in more detail. The sightseeing program includes five different tours covering various aspects of Zagreb’s culture, history, and urban development. These guided walks last approximately two hours and take place on Saturdays and Sundays, in the morning and afternoon. The number of participants is limited, so registration is required. The tours are held from September 7 to September 29, and each tour focuses on a specific aspect of life in Zagreb.

Bohemian walk through Zagreb
This tour takes participants through the historical streets of Zagreb, highlighting the role of key artists who shaped the city’s cultural identity. Visitors will learn more about writers, composers, and sculptors such as August Šenoa, Vatroslav Lisinski, and Ivan Meštrović. It takes place on Sundays, September 8, 15, 22, and 29, starting at 6 PM at the monument to Andrija Kačić Miošić on Mesnička Street.

Women of Zagreb
Dedicated to women who have pushed boundaries in society through their actions and bravery, this tour reveals stories of extraordinary women from Zagreb. The tours are planned for Sundays, September 8, 15, 22, and 29, with gathering scheduled for 10 AM at Zrinjevac, on the southern side of the park, near the busts of famous figures.

Family walk through Zagreb
Designed for the whole family, this tour offers an opportunity for joint discovery of stories that make Zagreb a special place to live. It takes place on Saturdays, September 7, 14, 21, and 28, starting at 7 PM in front of the Cathedral. Participants will have the chance to learn more about daily life in Zagreb through fun and educational stories, especially tailored for the youngest.

For ladies and gentlemen, adventurers and adventuresses
Returning to the past, this tour represents old Zagreb, revealing details about how the city's residents lived, what they ate, what their daily life was like, and how they entertained themselves. It is held on Saturdays, September 7, 14, and 28, departing at 11 AM from the fountain in front of the Cathedral.

Zagrebarium
This walk, led by a costumed guide, offers a unique opportunity to discover unusual and lesser-known historical facts about Zagreb. The tours are held on Saturdays, September 7, 14, 21, and 28, starting at 5 PM at Ban Jelačić Square, in front of the Tourist Information Center (TIC).
