Street Food Truck Festival returns to Krk: four days of music, film and summer gastronomy with Krk Music Fest

Street Food Truck Festival Krk is returning to the town of Krk as the gastronomic part of Krk Music Fest 2026, an event that will fill several town locations with music, dance, tradition and film screenings from 19 to 21 June. According to the programme published by the Tourist Board of the Town of Krk, the festival’s music and cultural programme will take place on Vela placa, the Riva and in Kino Krk, while the street food zone will continue even after the end of the main music section, until 22 June. In this way, Krk will gain a multi-day programme in the first days of summer that connects open-air concerts, local performers, film titles and a relaxed gastronomic offer by the sea.

This year’s edition of Krk Music Fest has been announced for the period around World Music Day, which is celebrated worldwide on 21 June. The official pages of the international Make Music Day initiative state that it is a global celebration of music held every year on the same date in more than a thousand cities, while the French Ministry of Culture points out that Fête de la Musique was launched in 1982 and is today celebrated on several continents. The Krk festival thus fits into a broader concept of open music programmes that take music out of enclosed venues and onto squares, waterfronts and public stages accessible to a wide audience.

For visitors planning a multi-day stay in the town, the programme is arranged so that it can be followed without rushing, with evening concerts and accompanying content at several locations. Since the event takes place during a touristically active part of the year, timely planning of arrival and accommodation in the town of Krk may be useful for everyone who wants to stay throughout the entire festival weekend. The organisers have announced that admission to all programmes is free, with the note that they reserve the right to change the schedule.

The gastro zone remains open until 22 June

According to the announcement by the Town of Krk, Food Truck Festival Krk will be held from 19 to 22 June along the wall of Veli park, as a specially designed festival zone dedicated to a contemporary street food offer. The original programme states that the festival, in its fifth edition, returns to Ribarski mul as a recognisable part of the summer atmosphere of Krk Music Fest, while the official announcement by the Town of Krk additionally lists the area next to Veli park as the location of the gastro content. Visitors will be able to stay there even after the evening concerts end, making the gastronomic part of the programme continue as a separate place for meeting, socialising and relaxing.

The festival offer includes the gastro brands Farabuto – local street food, Capra Street Food, Thomas Henry cocktail truck and Tonkine fritule. This is a concept based not only on fast food, but on signature dishes, mobile kitchens and drinks designed for open summer events. The official announcement by the Town of Krk states that visitors can expect more than ten signature dishes prepared in two designed food trucks, along with a cocktail truck and the Central bar with a selection of summer drinks. Such an offer follows the trend of festival gastronomy, in which food is increasingly seen as an important part of the overall experience, not merely as an accompanying service.

In the announcement, the organisers also particularly emphasise the ambient part of the space. The gastro zone is expected to be arranged with festival scenography and lighting, which is important for an event that takes place mostly in the evening hours. According to the announcement by the Town of Krk, special attention is also being paid to sustainability: drinks will be served in environmentally friendly cups, in line with the island’s zero-waste initiative. This information gives additional context to the festival because Krk has for years been developing public policies and communal practices related to more responsible waste management, and large summer events are especially demanding precisely because of the increased number of visitors.

First day: tradition, choirs, Elvis and a pop-rock spectacle

The programme of Krk Music Fest 2026 begins on Friday, 19 June, at several locations. According to the schedule of the Tourist Board of the Town of Krk, the film EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert will be screened at Kino Krk at 19:00. From the very beginning, the film part of the programme is thus connected to the festival’s music theme, as it brings a title dedicated to one of the best-known performers of popular music of the 20th century. Kino Krk has an important role in the festival schedule because it expands the programme beyond classical concerts and enables music to be presented through the film format as well.

On the same day, Vela placa opens space for local tradition and vocal performances. At 19:00, Folklorno društvo Poljica performs with traditional Krk dances and music, followed at 20:00 by the Women’s Choir of the Association of Pensioners of the Town of Krk. At 20:15, the women’s klapa Vejanke is announced. Such a beginning of the programme clearly shows that Krk Music Fest does not rely only on guest performers and popular genres, but includes local associations, choirs, klapas and folklore groups that preserve the island’s musical identity in the festival image.

On the Riva, the programme begins at 20:45 with a performance by Gradska glazba Krk. After that, at 21:30, the Golden Pop Rock Show performed by LevelOne Live Performance is announced. In this way, the first festival day moves from the traditional programme towards a pop-rock repertoire and a larger evening open-air concert. For audiences who want to combine all locations, the schedule is structured so that part of the programme on Vela placa, in the cinema and on the Riva follows on in time, although some time slots will overlap.

The first day is also important for the gastronomic part of the event because Food Truck Festival begins on the same date. Visitors coming for the film or music programme will be able to continue their festival tour in the street food zone, while those staying in Krk for several days can follow the same concept throughout the extended weekend. Since the programme takes place outdoors and in central town spaces, accommodation close to the festival locations can be a practical choice for visitors planning to stay until the later evening hours.

Saturday brings Cubismo, a klapa programme and the film title Michael

The Saturday programme, 20 June, according to the official announcement by the Tourist Board of the Town of Krk, begins at Kino Krk at 19:00 with a screening of the film Michael. On Vela placa at 19:00, Kulturno umjetničko društvo Vrh performs with traditional Krk dances and music. The programme continues at 20:00 with a performance by Plesni studio Incanto titled Summer Vibes, followed at 20:30 by klapa Kaštadi. Saturday thus maintains the concept in which local tradition, dance and vocal music appear before the evening concert on the Riva.

The central Saturday concert is announced for 21:30, when Cubismo performs on the Riva with a programme marking 30 years of activity, under the patronage of Valamar. Cubismo is one of the most recognisable Croatian bands associated with Latin jazz, salsa and Afro-Cuban rhythms, and their performance in the Krk programme brings a genre-wise different sound compared with the pop-rock first day and the disco, funk and soul programme of the closing evening. Precisely this genre diversity is one of the most visible features of this year’s schedule.

The Saturday schedule is also the densest for those who want to follow the entire programme. The cinema screening, folklore and dance performances on Vela placa and the concert on the Riva create an evening in which visitors can move between several public spaces in the town centre. Such a programme model is especially suited to summer town events because it does not depend on a single stage, but uses several recognisable points in the urban space. For Krk, whose historic core and coastal section naturally connect, this means that the festival becomes part of the usual movement through the town.

The gastro offer continues to play the role of an informal festival centre on the second day as well. The street food concept usually attracts audiences who do not come specifically for one concert, but remain in the town because of the overall atmosphere. According to the available announcements, the offer is based on signature dishes, cocktails and desserts, so Saturday may be the liveliest day of the Food Truck Festival, especially because of the main evening concert and the fact that the programme takes place on the eve of World Music Day.

Sunday finale of Krk Music Fest with Electric Corn and local performers

The third day of Krk Music Fest takes place on Sunday, 21 June, on World Music Day itself. According to the programme of the Tourist Board of the Town of Krk, Vela placa will host Kulturno društvo Kornić at 19:30 with traditional Krk dances and music. At 20:00, Vokalna skupina Kurikta performs, and at 21:00 the children’s choir Rokeri sv. Jakova from Kornić. In this way, the closing day again gives space to local performers and different generations, from a children’s choir to vocal ensembles and cultural societies.

On the Riva, at 21:30, a performance by Electric Corn is announced, with the programme Disco, Funk & Soul Live Show. This closing concert rounds off the festival dramaturgy because, after pop-rock and Latin rhythms, it brings a dance repertoire based on funk, soul and disco energy. In the context of World Music Day, such a choice has a clear festival logic: the closing evening is intended as an open, communicative programme that easily transfers to the audience on the waterfront and in the town space.

Although the music programme ends on 21 June, Food Truck Festival continues on 22 June as well. This is an important difference compared with the main festival schedule because it leaves visitors an additional day for the gastronomic offer after the concerts have ended. According to the official announcement, precisely this extended gastro atmosphere is one of the reasons why Food Truck Festival stands out as an unmissable part of Krk Music Fest. Visitors who stay in the town after the closing evening can thus continue the festival experience the next day, at a calmer rhythm.

Krk Music Fest connects town spaces and the beginning of summer

Krk Music Fest, in this year’s edition, confirms the format of a town event that is not based on a single type of content. Over three days, the programme combines folklore, klapas, choirs, dance, popular music, film screenings and a street food offer, all taking place in the period when Krk enters the summer season. In its announcement, the Tourist Board of the Town of Krk states that this is an event dedicated to World Music Day, with a programme at several town locations. Such a schedule enables the festival to be accessible to different groups of visitors, from families and lovers of tradition to audiences coming for evening concerts.

It is also important for the town of Krk that the programme relies on locations that already have public and tourist recognition. Vela placa, the Riva and Kino Krk are not neutral backdrops, but spaces in which the everyday life of the town meets cultural events. When the gastro zone next to Veli park is included in that framework, the festival gains a broader urban layout and more reasons to remain in the town centre. This is especially important for events that want to create an atmosphere, not only offer a series of individual performances.

Official announcements emphasise that admission to all programmes is free. This information is important because it places Krk Music Fest in the category of publicly accessible summer events, which is in line with the spirit of World Music Day. The organisers, however, note that they reserve the right to change the programme, so it is useful to check the latest schedule on official channels before arrival. This especially applies to outdoor events, where weather conditions and organisational circumstances may affect the timetable or location of individual programmes.
