PSG is monitoring Michael Olise, but Bayern currently holds a firm position
According to French media, Paris Saint-Germain has once again turned its attention to Michael Olise, the 24-year-old French international and one of Bayern’s most important players. The information emerged ahead of the 2026 summer transfer window, and ParisFans, citing the programme L’Équipe du Soir, states that the Parisian club has identified Olise as an ambitious target for strengthening the attacking part of the team. The same source also stresses that great caution is needed because there is currently no talk of advanced negotiations, nor of an agreement between PSG and Bayern. In other words, this is a matter of interest and a possible plan, not a transfer that is close to being completed.
At this moment, Olise is in an exceptionally strong negotiating position, above all because he has a contract with Bayern until June 30, 2029, as confirmed by the player’s official profile on the Munich club’s website. According to Transfermarkt, after the latest update, his market value stands at 150 million euros, which places him among the most expensive attacking players in European football. Bayern, meanwhile, is showing no signs of hurry or need to sell, while PSG, according to the available information, is for now merely exploring possibilities in case space opens up in attack during the summer. Bradley Barcola is most often mentioned in that calculation, although his departure from Paris has not been officially confirmed.
Why Olise has become one of the biggest targets on the market
Olise’s rise at Bayern explains why every piece of news about his future immediately gained major attention. The official Bundesliga website states that in the 2025/2026 league season he recorded 32 appearances, 15 goals and 19 assists, an output that places him among the most productive players in the German championship. Bayern announced on its official website that Olise was chosen as the Bundesliga Player of the Season for 2025/2026, emphasizing that no one in the league had more assists. For a player who arrived in Munich from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024, such development represents confirmation that the move from the Premier League to the Bundesliga turned into a complete success.
His profile is especially interesting to PSG because he fits well into a playing model that requires quick decisions, technical superiority in tight spaces and the ability to create overloads on the wing. Olise most often operates from the right side, cuts inside onto his stronger left foot, but he is not a one-dimensional winger. According to Bundesliga data, in addition to goals and assists, he stands out with a large number of touches, intensive runs and shots at goal, which shows that he is not only a final passer but also a constant driver of attacks. PSG may view such a profile as a way of further raising quality in the final third, especially in matches in which it is necessary to break down low defensive blocks.
Olise’s status in the French national team adds further weight to the entire story. The French Football Federation states that Olise played for the younger French selections, that he won silver with the Olympic team at the Games in Paris in 2024, and that he made his debut for the senior national team in September 2024. The Federation’s official profile also states that on June 8, 2026, against Northern Ireland, he scored three goals in a friendly match that France won 3:1. Such a moment of form further strengthens the impression that this is a player who may become even more visible on the international stage ahead of a major summer.
Bayern has neither financial nor sporting pressure to sell
The biggest obstacle for PSG is not only the price, but Bayern’s position. On June 7, 2026, the president of the Munich club, Herbert Hainer, clearly stated, according to Sport1, that Olise is a Bayern player with a long contract and that the club is not a selling club. Such a statement came in the context of rumours that had linked Olise with Real Madrid in recent weeks, but its message applies to all other potential buyers as well. Bayern does not see him as a player on whom it should make money, but as a cornerstone of the attack for the coming seasons.
A similar stance had earlier been expressed by sporting director Max Eberl. In October 2025, Bundesliga.com carried his statement to the German magazine 11Freunde that Olise has a contract with Bayern until 2029 without a release clause. That is a crucial detail because without such a clause, no interested club can unilaterally activate a predetermined amount and bypass negotiations with Bayern. In practice, this means that PSG, Real Madrid, Premier League clubs or any other interested club would first have to convince Bayern to even sit down at the table.
Bayern’s sporting logic is also clear. According to Olise’s official profile on Bayern’s website, the club won the Bundesliga with him in 2025 and 2026, and his output in the second season shows that this is not a passing flash. In Vincent Kompany’s system, Olise has become a player who provides width, creativity and concrete production. For a team that wants to retain domestic dominance and at the same time attack the top of the Champions League, losing such a player would require a replacement that is difficult to find and even harder to bring in under reasonably controlled conditions.
PSG’s calculation also depends on the state of its own attack
In the original information about possible Parisian interest, particular mention is made of the possibility that space in PSG’s attack could open up with the departure of one of the existing wingers. Bradley Barcola is most often mentioned in that context, the 23-year-old French international who joined PSG from Lyon. The Parisian club’s official profile confirms that Barcola signed a five-year contract in August 2023, meaning that he is tied to PSG until 2028. This means that in his case, too, the club is not under immediate contractual pressure, but transfer windows often depend on a combination of sporting role, market value and the player’s wishes.
But Football Club reported on June 11, 2026, that French speculation around Olise also mentions possible players who could be included in a potential operation, among them Barcola and Fabián Ruiz. However, such constructions should for now be viewed as media scenarios, not as confirmed negotiations. There is no official confirmation that Bayern is ready to discuss an exchange, nor that PSG has formally offered players or a concrete amount. The ParisFans article also explicitly warns that the idea makes sporting sense, but that the dossier is far from a hot phase.
Barcola is important to PSG because he brings depth, speed and the possibility of playing on the left side of the attack, while Fabián Ruiz has a different value in midfield through ball control and tactical flexibility. Including such players in any kind of proposal would mean that PSG would not be trying only to overpower Bayern financially, but also to offer a model that would at least partially soften the sporting loss for the German club. But in major transfers, such solutions often sound simpler in media combinations than in real negotiations, because every player involved must accept a new environment, contract terms and sporting role.
The price of 150 million euros is not the only problem
The valuation of around 150 million euros, cited by Transfermarkt, is important as a market reference point, but it does not necessarily represent the amount for which Bayern would agree to sell Olise. With a player who has a long contract, no release clause and occupies a central place in the club’s plans, the actual negotiating price may be higher than the market valuation. If Bayern were to open the door to talks at all, it would have to assess not only the direct transfer fee, but also the cost of bringing in a replacement, the risk of losing quality and the message such a sale would send to the rest of the dressing room. That is why, in cases like this, the price is not determined exclusively by statistics or comparison with previous transfers.
PSG, on the other hand, has for years been trying to balance the ambition for the biggest names with the need for a more sustainable sporting project. Olise would fit into the direction toward younger, technically elite players who still have room to grow, but his arrival would require a very expensive and complex operation. If the Parisian club were truly to launch a concrete offensive, it would have to count on Bayern negotiating from a position of strength, without a contractual deadline forcing it into compromise. That is significantly different from situations in which a player enters the final year of his contract or has a clearly defined release clause.
The timing is also important. The 2026 summer transfer window is taking place during a period in which the World Cup is simultaneously being played in the United States of America, Canada and Mexico, which further complicates negotiations involving internationals. Players are in the middle of preparations and competition, clubs are careful about the rhythm of talks, and every strong performance at a major tournament can further change the perception of value. Olise is already under scrutiny ahead of the tournament because of his form at Bayern and in the French national team, so possible appearances for France could further increase interest, but also strengthen Bayern’s decision to keep him.
What can be claimed for now, and what remains open
According to the available information, it can be reliably said that PSG is monitoring Olise and that French media present that interest as one of the ambitious ideas for the summer transfer window. It is also confirmed that Olise has a contract with Bayern until 2029, that according to Transfermarkt he is valued at 150 million euros, and that Bayern publicly treats him as a player it does not want to sell. His exceptional sporting figures in the 2025/2026 season have also been confirmed, including 15 goals and 19 assists in the Bundesliga, as well as the award for the German championship’s player of the season. All of this makes this dossier attractive, but at the same time extremely difficult to complete.
What has not yet been confirmed is the existence of an official PSG offer to Bayern, an agreement with the player or the German club’s willingness to accept negotiations. It has not been officially confirmed either that Barcola will leave PSG, although his name appears in media combinations as part of a broader attacking reconstruction. Until that changes, a more realistic description of the situation is that PSG is testing possibilities and observing market developments, while Bayern is publicly sending the message that it has no intention of opening the door. That is precisely why Olise currently looks like a major Parisian wish, but not like a transfer that is close to an agreement.
Several questions will be decisive for the continuation of the story: will PSG first open space in attack through sales or departures, will Olise show any desire to change surroundings, and will Bayern maintain an equally firm stance if an exceptionally high offer appears on the table. At this moment, the answers to those questions are not known. What is known is only that one of the potentially most expensive and most complicated transfer plots of the summer is forming around Olise, in which PSG has motivation, but Bayern has the contract, the sporting need and negotiating control.
