Juventus - Parma: match guide in Turin
Juventus and Parma meet in the 2nd round of Serie A 2026/2027 at Allianz Stadium in Turin. Kick-off is scheduled for 20:45 local time, and for both teams this is a very early test of the direction of the new season. Before that match, Juventus travel to Frosinone, while Parma host Cagliari before making the trip to Turin. Since this guide is being prepared on 22 August, before the completion of the 1st round, there is still no meaningful table or league form from the new season: what can be analysed is the closing stage of the previous campaign, the summer preparations and the first competitive appearances.
Juventus want to impose their rhythm immediately in their first home league appearance in front of the crowd in Turin. Parma finished last season with 45 points and secured survival four rounds before the end. The visit to Juventus is therefore also an indication of how much Carlos Cuesta's team have progressed in possession and in playing out under pressure.
Tickets for this match are in demand among supporters.
How Juventus enter the new season
Luciano Spalletti finished the previous Serie A season on the Juventus bench, and the team ended the 2025/2026 campaign in sixth place with 69 points. The closing stage was not calm: Juventus drew 2-2 with Torino in the final round after having led 2-0. Managing the match after taking the lead is precisely one of the areas Spalletti wants to improve.
The summer results paint a somewhat more positive picture. Juventus beat Standard Liege 1-0, Nice 2-0, Chelsea 1-0 and Palermo 2-0. They lost 2-1 to Inter, while the final test against Juventus Next Gen was stopped after one half with the score at 2-0. In that brief final test, the scorers were Francisco Conceição and Weston McKennie. Kenan Yildiz scored against Palermo, while Edon Zhegrova decided the match against Chelsea.
In the final test, Spalletti used a line-up with Pierre Kalulu, Bremer and Lloyd Kelly in the back line, Manuel Locatelli and McKennie in midfield, and Conceição, Douglas Luiz, Yildiz and Randal Kolo Muani in attacking roles. That does not mean the set-up will be identical against Parma, but it shows two clear ideas: Juventus want many players between the lines and want to regain the ball quickly after losing possession.
Kenan Yildiz remains the most dangerous when Juventus need an individual move in a tight space. Zhegrova brings shooting and dribbling from the wing, Conceição acceleration in one-on-one situations, and Kolo Muani depth. Jonathan David already has a good recent record against Parma: he scored in the 2-0 home win in August 2025 and in the 4-1 victory in Parma in February 2026.
What Juventus will try to do with the ball
The most logical expectation is that the home side will take control of possession and try to stretch Parma's back line. Cambiaso can move high or into central areas, while Conceição and Yildiz provide width and play between the lines. Parma's deep block forces Juventus to be patient; a higher block opens space for Kolo Muani and the other quick attackers.
Bremer is important for another reason as well. In the most recent league meeting between these clubs, Juventus' 4-1 victory in Parma, he scored two goals. Parma therefore have to be especially careful at set pieces, with first contacts in the penalty area and loose balls after corners.
Parma arrive with a clear signal from the cup
Parma have already played their first competitive match of the season. In the cup on 14 August, they beat Catania 2-0, with Simone Lontani scoring both goals in the first half. The first came after a corner, the second after a run and cross from the right. That detail describes well what Juventus must not underestimate: Parma can threaten both from an organised set piece and through a quick move down the flank.
Against Catania, Carlos Cuesta started with a back four of Delprato - Troilo - Circati - Valeri, a midfield three of Bernabé - Konate - Ordoñez and an attacking trio of Britschgi - Toure - Lontani. Such a structure allows Parma to drop into a more compact block without the ball and quickly shift the focus of play to the flanks when in possession.
At that point, Lontani is the player with the best competitive output at the start of the season. Mateo Pellegrino remains an important attacking reference after finishing the previous Serie A season with nine goals; his latest came against Sassuolo in a 1-0 win in the final round. Adrian Bernabé provides quality in the first and second pass in midfield, while Alessandro Circati brings physical strength and aggression in defence.
The preparations were not without problems. Parma lost 2-0 to Sampdoria on 9 August, and several weeks earlier Hans Nicolussi Caviglia suffered an injury to his right thigh. He was not in the squad for the cup match against Catania, so his appearance in Turin should not be assumed until the club publishes more recent information. Benjamin Cremaschi returned to team training in the third week of August after a longer absence, while Nesta Elphege was still dealing with muscular overload. The final list of available players for Juventus - Parma will only be known closer to the match.
At Juventus, Federico Gatti had an issue with muscle fatigue in mid-August, but on 17 August he was once again among the players called up for the match with Next Gen. Therefore, at this point it is not reasonable to list him as a confirmed absentee. The same applies to suspensions: between the date this guide is being prepared and the match, both teams have the 1st round to play, so the disciplinary situation may change.
Head-to-head meetings give Juventus an advantage, but also a warning
Juventus won both league meetings last season by an aggregate score of 6-1. However, Parma took four points from two matches against Juventus in the 2024/2025 season, including a 1-0 home victory. That is enough to prevent this pairing from being reduced to a simple story of favourite and underdog.
- 1 February 2026: Parma 1-4 Juventus
- 24 August 2025: Juventus 2-0 Parma
- 23 April 2025: Parma 1-0 Juventus
- 30 October 2024: Juventus 2-2 Parma
- 21 April 2021: Juventus 3-1 Parma
For Parma, the biggest problem in Turin is how they will survive the opening twenty minutes or so without dropping too deep. If the block sinks too far back, Juventus get repeated attacks, corners and second balls. If Cuesta pushes the line higher, space opens up for Yildiz, Conceição and Kolo Muani. The best compromise is probably a mid-block that tries to close down Locatelli and force Juventus to build attacks through the wide centre-backs.
For Juventus, the danger is the opposite. The home side must be careful that having a large number of players ahead of the ball does not leave too much space after possession is lost. Parma showed against Catania that they can finish an attack quickly when they win space on the flank, while Bernabé has the passing quality to bypass the first line of pressure.
Allianz Stadium and what supporters need to know
Allianz Stadium is located at Corso Gaetano Scirea 50 in Turin and has 41,507 seats. The first row of the stands is only 7.5 metres from the pitch, which explains why the pressure from the stands can be felt immediately next to the touchline and corner flags. The complex has around 4,000 parking spaces intended for visitors, but access by car to the zones around the stadium on matchday depends on a valid parking permit and availability.
For visitors arriving in Turin, public transport is often a simpler option than travelling by car. For football matches, GTT operates the special 9B line between the Bernini area and Allianz Stadium, with a connection to the metro, and also lists lines 3, 62, 72 and 75.
- Address: Corso Gaetano Scirea 50, Turin.
- Capacity: 41,507 seats.
- The special 9B line connects the Bernini area with the stadium on matchdays.
- For the return journey after the match, the 9B continues towards Porta Nuova, an important railway and metro hub.
- Parking areas around the stadium have around 4,000 spaces, and access is controlled on matchday.
GTT states that the special stadium line begins operating approximately two hours before kick-off, while the final departure from the stadium is scheduled for around 45 minutes after the end of the match. For passengers planning to combine the metro and the 9B, it is practical to allow additional time for crowds after the final whistle.
For parking, the opposite logic applies: anyone arriving by car should check access to their chosen zone in advance. Juventus states that parking for an individual match can be arranged in advance, while the parking regulations provide for opening three hours before the match and operation until one hour after the end.
The exact opening time of the entrances for Juventus - Parma has not been announced in the verified information available on 22 August. Supporters should therefore not assume that the schedule will be identical to previous matches. It is practical to arrive earlier, have the ticket ready on the phone and check the latest instructions for that specific match before setting off.
Seats in the stands are disappearing quickly.
Turin before and after the match
The stadium is in the north-western part of Turin, outside the historic centre. This is important for travellers arriving by train on the same day or staying in the city centre: the time needed to reach the stadium should not be calculated only according to distance, but also according to traffic and increased checks around the stadium.
Porta Nuova is an important railway and metro hub, while Bernini serves as a transfer point for the special stadium line. After the match, a large number of passengers depart almost simultaneously, so crowds should be expected.
Supporters visiting Allianz Stadium for the first time are advised not to plan to arrive at the last moment. Ticket and identification checks, security screening and finding the correct sector can take time.
Where the match could be decided
The first area is midfield. If Locatelli and Juventus' midfielders get enough time to turn forward, the home side can keep Parma in their own third for long periods. Parma therefore have to close the central channel and direct the build-up towards the flanks, where they can try to double up on Yildiz or Conceição.
The second area is set pieces. Bremer scored twice against Parma in February, while Lontani opened the cup match against Catania after a corner. Both teams have a concrete reason to prepare the defence of the first and second contact in detail.
The third area is the space behind the wide players. Juventus will want to position their width high up the pitch, but that leaves space in transition. Parma, with Bernabé as a passer and quick players around the central striker, can look for their clearest opportunities precisely there.
- Juventus' advantage: a greater number of individually dangerous players between the lines.
- Parma's chance: a quick break after winning the ball and attacking the space behind the flanks.
- Key duel: Juventus' first press against Parma's build-up from the back line.
- Special attention: corners and second balls after set pieces.
If Juventus take an early lead, Spalletti's team will have to show that they can control the tempo without unnecessarily opening up the match. If Parma withstand the early pressure and force the home side into long, predictable attacks, the contest can become considerably more uncomfortable for the favourites.
The atmosphere will intensify further because this is Juventus' first home league appearance of the season in front of the crowd at Allianz Stadium. Last season, the same pairing opened the championship in Turin in front of 41,251 spectators, and Juventus won 2-0. This time Parma arrive with the experience of that match, but also with a fresh warning from February, when Juventus scored four goals in Parma.
It is worth securing tickets in good time.
