WWE NXT comes to Gatineau with Kevin Owens and a new generation of wrestlers
WWE NXT is coming to Centre Slush Puppie in Gatineau, in the Canadian province of Québec, on Saturday, October 17, 2026, starting at 7:30 p.m. local time. This is an NXT Live event, meaning a live performance in front of an arena audience rather than a regular televised episode of NXT. The program at such an event may differ from what viewers see on television.
Kevin Owens is attracting particular attention, having been included by WWE among the advertised participants. Also listed are Tony D'Angelo, Kendal Grey, Cruz Montana, Zaria, Shiloh Hill and members of The Vanity Project - Jackson Drake, Ricky Smokes and Brad Baylor. The list does not mean that individual matches have been confirmed, nor is it known whether Owens will compete in a match. If you are planning to attend, it is worth securing tickets in advance and checking the updated schedule before setting off.
Kevin Owens: a return to his NXT roots in front of a Québec audience
Owens' presence adds extra significance to the event. The wrestler from Marieville, Québec, has developed a distinctive style built around direct verbal confrontations, powerful attacks and sudden changes of pace. His signature moves include the Pop-up Powerbomb and the Stunner. He has won various championships in WWE, including the NXT Championship, and his NXT history is closely linked to his rivalry with Sami Zayn. His appearance in Gatineau is therefore more than just a guest appearance by a familiar name: it marks a return to the environment where he established an important part of his reputation.
His appearance at NXT TakeOver: WarGames 2019 is particularly memorable, when he joined a team featuring Tommaso Ciampa, Keith Lee and Dominik Dijakovic. Owens' participation is therefore significant for NXT fans, although his involvement in a match, a role in the main event or a meet-and-greet with fans has not been confirmed.
Tony D'Angelo, Cruz Montana and the rivalries shaping NXT's men's division
Tony D'Angelo is one of NXT's most recognizable personalities, with performances combining physical strength, throws and a strongly defined character. In the television program in early October, he was involved in a tense exchange with Myles Borne and Grayson Waller. However, that does not mean he will face either of them in Gatineau.
Cruz Montana brings a different kind of energy. WWE presents him as a wrestler from the Bronx with experience in both singles and tag team competition. Fans who follow NXT may have seen him in September teaming with EK Prosper against Ricky Smokes and Brad Baylor. In that encounter, Montana used powerful strikes and throws, while his team also demonstrated moves from the top rope. The match pitted strength against fast-paced teamwork.
Their inclusion on the same event lineup therefore attracts attention, but a rematch has not been announced.
Kendal Grey and Zaria: contrasting approaches to women's wrestling
Kendal Grey is among the advertised participants with a particularly interesting athletic background. According to her WWE profile, she was a three-time NAIA wrestling champion while studying at Life University, won the Iron Survivor Challenge in 2025 and held the NXT Women's Championship during 2026. Her advantage lies not only in spectacular moves but also in her ability to use holds, balance and positional control to limit her opponents' opportunities to attack.
Zaria offers a contrast to that approach. The Australian wrestler is known for explosive attacks and physical dominance, and WWE identified her as the NXT Women's North American Champion in its October report. On the October 6 episode of NXT, she competed in a multi-woman match for an opportunity to become the challenger for the women's title. Izzi Dame and Kali Armstrong were also involved in the storyline, but their televised rivalry should not be mistaken for a confirmed match at this event.
Whether Grey and Zaria will appear in separate matches or compete together remains unknown.
The Vanity Project and Shiloh Hill: teamwork, provocations and rivalries
Jackson Drake, Ricky Smokes and Brad Baylor together make up The Vanity Project. Their performances are built around confident behavior, provocations and a willingness to exploit numerical advantages whenever an opportunity arises. Smokes and Baylor have experience winning NXT tag team championships, while Drake has forged his own path through Evolve and the NXT North American Championship. In their September match against Montana and EK Prosper, teamwork and interference with their opponents played an important role in the outcome.
The reactions of their partners at ringside also attract attention, but the format of their appearance in Gatineau has not been announced.
Shiloh Hill brings a different story. On the October 6 episode of NXT, his encounter with Naraku ended without a winner after an incident involving colored liquid being spat toward the referee, and the confrontation continued beyond the normal course of the match. Hill has also previously encountered problems with interference from other wrestlers during his appearances. Hill's opponent in Gatineau has not yet been confirmed.
What makes NXT Live different from the television show
At live events, spectators experience the wrestlers' entrances, entrance music, reactions from the stands and changes of pace between matches firsthand. The audience can respond to provocations or support a favorite, and performers can adapt the way they build moments in the ring to those reactions. The rivalries presented are part of professional wrestling storylines and do not necessarily represent personal conflicts outside the ring.
The program may feature different types of matches, but specific matchups for Gatineau have not been announced:
- A singles match emphasizes the clash of wrestling styles and the development of a storyline between two male or female competitors.
- A tag team match introduces partner changes, coordinated moves and different tactics inside the ring.
- A championship match carries additional stakes because a title belt is on the line; no such title defense has been confirmed in advance for this evening.
- Matches with special rules can change the permitted ways to win, but no specific stipulation has been announced for the Gatineau event.
Televised rivalries provide context, but they are not a substitute for a confirmed lineup for the evening.
Centre Slush Puppie: an arena adaptable to a wrestling spectacle
Centre Slush Puppie is located at 500 boulevard de la Cité in Gatineau. It opened in 2021 and is home to the Olympiques de Gatineau hockey club. The complex has a main arena and additional ice surfaces, while the main venue can be adapted for concerts, shows and events such as professional wrestling. The venue operator lists a capacity of 4,372 people for concerts and similar event configurations; this is not the confirmed number of seats available for sale for WWE NXT, as the arrangement of the ring, production equipment and aisles can affect seat availability.
For professional wrestling, visibility of both the ring and the entrance area is important. Centre Slush Puppie has a large scoreboard screen, sound system and lighting system, and its layout can be adapted to the floor area normally used for hockey. When choosing seats, consider whether you prefer an overview of the ring from the stands or a closer view from lower-level seats, and check the seating chart. Selecting tickets before traveling is advisable so that you can match the available options to your preferences.
How to reach the arena and where to park
The arena is located in the Gatineau part of the Ottawa-Gatineau metropolitan area. Visitors arriving by public transportation can use the Société de transport de l'Outaouais (STO) network and Station de la Cité on the Rapibus corridor. The station is located at 459 boulevard de la Cité, a few minutes' walk from the complex. STO also lists route 400 as an option for reaching the arena, but visitors should check the exact Saturday evening schedule and any required transfers for the return journey.
It is important not to assume that a WWE ticket includes public transportation. STO has a special arrangement for spectators attending Olympiques de Gatineau home games, but explicitly states that this benefit does not apply to other events at Centre Slush Puppie.
For drivers, a multilevel parking garage is available next to the complex. According to the City of Gatineau's regulations, parking is free from 6:00 p.m. until midnight, while different rules apply earlier in the day. The city also states that parking between midnight and 6:00 a.m. is prohibited, except during special events. This matters for travelers planning to remain in the city longer: they should not automatically assume that overnight parking is permitted. Allow enough time for parking and entering the venue.
Admission, duration and visitor rules
The event is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m., but this is not the same as the time the doors open. There is currently no confirmed information about admission times, total event duration, intermission or match order. Entry information should be checked on the ticket and in announcements from the arena.
The venue publishes rules of conduct that prohibit bringing in personal alcohol, weapons and illegal substances. The arena also prohibits food and drinks purchased outside the complex, as well as the use of objects that disturb others, such as air horns, whistles and laser pointers. Any restrictions on bag sizes or recording should be checked in the announcements for WWE NXT. Meetings with wrestlers, autographs and access to the ringside area have not been confirmed as part of a regular ticket.
According to information about the arena, the complex has food and beverage facilities, including Resto bar Loft Le 1973. If you want to eat before the event, check whether your chosen establishment is operating according to that day's schedule. Visitors attending with children or people who need accessible seating should check seating and entrance arrangements in advance.
Gatineau as a destination for visitors from outside the city
Gatineau lies on the northern bank of the Ottawa River, opposite Canada's capital, Ottawa. For travelers arriving from other parts of Québec, Ontario or abroad, WWE NXT can be an opportunity to explore both cities. Centre Slush Puppie is not located in the historic city center, so when booking accommodation, it makes sense to consider how you will return to your hotel after the evening event, particularly if you rely on public transportation.
Additional time should be set aside for sightseeing along the river or visiting downtown Ottawa. For visitors traveling solely for the event, the priorities are having the arena's correct address, verified return transportation and a ticket for the chosen seat. It is worth organizing tickets and transportation before departure and monitoring any changes to the advertised wrestlers and any additional program information until the day of the event.
