WWE Summer Tour in Edmonton: tickets for CM Punk, Cody Rhodes and GUNTHER in a night of title matches at Rogers Place

WWE Summer Tour at Rogers Place: a night when headline stories collide

WWE returns to Edmonton with an edition of the Summer Tour at Rogers Place, and the announced card puts the spotlight on two different kinds of chaos: a Triple Threat Match for the Undisputed WWE Championship and a Fatal Four Way showdown for the United States Championship. The show is scheduled for Saturday, August 22, 2026, starting at 7:30 p.m., while the arena doors open at 6:30 p.m. Rogers Place also states that this is WWE's first appearance in Edmonton since 2024.

At the center of the evening is currently CM Punk against Cody Rhodes and GUNTHER in a Triple Threat Match for the Undisputed WWE Championship. In this format, the champion does not have to be directly defeated to lose the title, and the third participant can break up a pin or submission in a fraction of a second.

The card is listed as subject to change. This is especially important because CM Punk is also announced to defend the title against Kevin Owens on SmackDown in Toronto the night before Edmonton. That is why there is no reason to speculate about how that result will affect the final Summer Tour card.

CM Punk, Cody Rhodes and GUNTHER bring three completely different rhythms

CM Punk enters the main event as the current Undisputed WWE Champion. The G.T.S. gives him a sudden finishing weapon, the Anaconda Vise gives him the possibility of winning by submission, and his experience helps him adjust the pace while threats come from two directions.

Cody Rhodes brings a different kind of pressure. Cross Rhodes can finish the match if he manages to isolate one opponent, and his story is directly connected to Punk's title. At SummerSlam, Punk retained the championship after Randy Orton returned and hit Rhodes with an RKO, also opening a parallel rivalry between Rhodes and Orton.

GUNTHER relies on physical pressure, powerful chops, suplexes and submissions. In a Triple Threat format, the problem is not only how to neutralize one opponent, but also how to prevent the other from taking advantage of the moment after a heavy attack.

Rhodes and GUNTHER were already part of a Triple Threat Match for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Night of Champions together with Sami Zayn, while Punk won the title soon afterward. Edmonton therefore continues the same circle of rivalries around the company's most important championship.

United States Championship: four men, one pin and almost no safe space

The second particularly important match in the announcement brings together Finn Bálor, Carmelo Hayes, Trick Williams and Baron Corbin in a Fatal Four Way Match for the United States Championship. Baron Corbin currently holds the title after defeating Trick Williams at SummerSlam, and he then defeated Carmelo Hayes on SmackDown in a title defense. After that match, Trick Williams attacked Corbin, so the rivalry among three of the participants is already directly connected to the championship.

Finn Bálor adds the Coup de Grâce and experience in high-paced matches. Hayes brings speed and Nothing But Net, Williams his own long history with Hayes, while Corbin enters as the champion whose End of Days can suddenly stop anyone's momentum.

A Fatal Four Way is not a tag team match. Short-term alliances can form, but everyone is fighting for the same goal. That is why it is worth watching who is in the ring, who is waiting at ringside and who is fresh enough to break up a pin attempt.

The women's match connects the current story with Raw

A Six Women Tag Team Match has also been announced in which Sol Ruca, IYO SKY and Nattie face The Judgment Day members Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez. Here, the structure is completely different from the multi-person title matches. In a team format, legal tags in and out, isolating one opponent and the moment when a fresh partner changes the pace are important.

There is also an immediate television background. On Raw on August 10, Sol Ruca and IYO SKY defeated Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez, with the finish coming after Ruca countered Perez's Pop Rox attempt into a superkick and then hit the Sol Snatcher. That means Edmonton already has an established competitive foundation, while the addition of Liv Morgan and Nattie expands the tactical range of the match.

Ruca brings acrobatics and the Sol Snatcher, IYO SKY an aerial game and Over the Moonsault, while Nattie brings the Sharpshooter and extensive experience. Rodriguez gives The Judgment Day power, Perez speed, and Morgan experience at the top of the women's division.

More names on the card and why they are worth watching

Rogers Place's current announcement also lists a number of other WWE Superstars who are expected to be part of the evening. Among them are Kevin Owens, Oba Femi, Intercontinental Champion Chad Gable, AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio, Danhausen and LA Knight. At the time of this announcement, individual matches have not been listed for them, so it is not reasonable to construct pairings or stipulations in advance.

Kevin Owens nevertheless deserves special attention because of his position in the main championship story. At SummerSlam, he defeated Gunther, Finn Bálor and Sami Zayn in a Fatal Four Way Match and became the number one contender for the Undisputed WWE Championship. His title match with Punk has been announced for SmackDown in Toronto before the Edmonton show, so his status may change before the Summer Tour reaches Rogers Place.

Oba Femi arrives after defeating Brock Lesnar in a Hell in a Cell Match at SummerSlam, while Chad Gable and Dominik Mysterio are listed in the arena announcement with the titles Intercontinental Champion and AAA Mega Champion. Without announced pairings, there is no point in speculating about their opponents.

What an evening of live professional wrestling looks like

Inside the arena, a spectator simultaneously sees the entrance ramp, the ring, the crowd's reaction and the positioning of wrestlers outside the main action. In matches with three or four participants, that wider perspective is especially valuable because a television camera otherwise chooses only one shot.

Entrance themes, lights and crowd reactions create the rhythm before the first contact. Punk, Rhodes, GUNTHER and Bálor have very different presentations, and after the bell the focus shifts to who takes control of the pace and who makes the best use of the crowd's reaction.

Rogers Place as an arena for WWE production

Rogers Place is located in downtown Edmonton at 10220 104 Ave NW and opened in 2016. The arena is home to the Edmonton Oilers, and for concerts and centrally staged productions it can accommodate up to approximately 20,000 visitors, depending on the configuration. For WWE, the large floor area is especially important because the seating layout changes compared with hockey: the ring, production area and entrance stage determine which stands will be open and what the sightlines will be.

• Bags and purses must be smaller than 12 x 12 x 6 inches and are subject to inspection at the entrance.
• Re-entry is not permitted after leaving Rogers Place.

For visitors arriving by public transportation, MacEwan LRT station is located along the north side of the complex, while from the downtown direction it is also possible to use the network of enclosed pedestrian walkways connected to Churchill, Central and Bay/Enterprise Square stations. This is practical if visitors plan to spend time downtown or in the ICE District before the show.

For drivers, it is useful to plan for congestion before the start and after the event ends. Arriving earlier leaves more time for parking, security screening and finding the correct section.

Entry rules worth checking before departure

A security screening is carried out at the entrance. Bags and purses must be smaller than 12 x 12 x 6 inches, the arena is smoke-free, including vaping, and re-entry is not permitted after leaving.

Rules for cameras and other items may depend on the production, so it is worth checking them again before arrival. Doors opening at 6:30 p.m. leaves one hour for security screening and finding seats before the start.

Edmonton and the ICE District for visitors coming from outside the city

Rogers Place is part of the ICE District in downtown Edmonton, so visitors staying in the central part of the city can connect their hotel, restaurants and the arena on foot or by public transportation.

Edmonton International Airport is located approximately 31 kilometers south of Rogers Place. If arriving by plane on the same day, additional time should be allowed for the transfer toward downtown; from there, LRT and pedestrian connections make the final part of the journey easier.

What to watch when the first bell rings

The most interesting detail of the current card is the contrast between formats. The Triple Threat for the Undisputed WWE Championship requires constant awareness of the third man. The Fatal Four Way for the United States Championship increases the number of possible interruptions and short-term alliances. The Six Women Tag Team Match, by contrast, rewards team control and well-timed tags.

In the main event, it is worth watching whether Punk can impose a more technical pace, whether Rhodes can connect with Cross Rhodes at a moment when the third participant is out of the action, and whether GUNTHER can break down the structure of the match through physical dominance. In the United States Championship match, the key is who can best exploit the fact that one opponent may hit a finishing move while another can still steal the pin. In the women's tag team match, the focus is on who can isolate an opponent and prevent her partners from breaking up the finish.

None of this requires inventing a result in advance. Uncertainty, shifts in control and the crowd's reaction are precisely what make a live show different from reading the results after the event. The current card already has enough solid stories: Punk and Rhodes after SummerSlam, GUNTHER in the same championship circle, Corbin with the new United States Championship, Hayes and Williams continuing their own history, and Ruca and SKY against The Judgment Day after their recent Raw match.
