Valamar has achieved significant business revenue growth of 16.1% in the first six months of 2024, which can be attributed to years of investments in service improvements and portfolio restructuring. Hotels and camping resorts in the premium segment are recording the best results, while the Dubrovnik destination has achieved the highest growth among all Valamar destinations.
In preparation for the season, Valamar successfully filled all job positions. This year, about 8,200 employees are working in their hotels, resorts, and camps. Salaries have increased by almost 20% compared to the previous year, and base salaries for more than 5,000 employees have also risen. Professional positions such as chefs, waiters, and receptionists now have earnings between 1,400 and 2,000 euros net.
Valamar has directed significant funds to the construction of the premium Pical resort in Poreč, which represents the largest single investment in Croatian tourism with a total investment of 139 million euros over a two-year period. The Pical 5* hotel will operate year-round, employing 600 workers and contributing to the quality of tourism in Poreč, Istria, and all of Croatia. Additionally, Valamar has successfully completed the renovation of three hotels and resorts in Rabac, Makarska, and on Krk under the Sunny by Valamar brand and has begun the first phase of construction of the Valamar Collection resort in Suha Punta on Rab.
Valamar continues to invest in strategic projects and sustainable business initiatives during 2024. In cooperation with WWF Adria and the Komiža Fishermen's Cooperative, Valamar procures locally caught Adriatic fish in a sustainable manner, strengthening the cooperative, attracting new fishermen, and enabling further development.
At Padova Premium Camping Resort 4* on Rab, 33 new energy-efficient houses were introduced. Valamar Amicor Green Resort on Hvar received the gold DGNB pre-certificate for sustainable construction of standalone villas, becoming the first such resort in this part of Europe. The Croatian Green Building Council awarded Valamar the Annual Award for Green Building and Sustainable Built Environment.
