Perry continues his MMA comeback after victory over Nate Diaz
For Mike Perry, the fight in Orlando will be his second consecutive appearance under MMA rules after a period of several years during which he built most of his career in bare-knuckle boxing. Among the opponents he has defeated are Michael Page, Luke Rockhold, Eddie Alvarez, Thiago Alves and Jeremy Stephens, fighters with extensive experience in the world's leading promotions. BKFC describes him on its website as one of the faces of the organization, and Perry also holds the special “King of Violence” title, earned in his match against Alvarez. For Perry, the ring is a familiar working environment because his BKFC fights were held in a circular area surrounded by ropes, although MMA rules will once again include takedowns, kicks and ground fighting. Danis will attempt to take advantage of precisely those segments that do not exist in traditional boxing and bare-knuckle boxing. His clearest path to victory involves closing the distance, securing a takedown and searching for a finish, while Perry will seek to keep the match standing and impose his pace through strikes. Because the organizer has announced neither the number nor the duration of the rounds, any more detailed tactical assessment remains limited for now. The only confirmed information is that the contest will take place in the welterweight division, at the 170-pound limit under the customary American MMA system.
The clash of styles is also the central promotional element of the match. In recent years, Perry has become synonymous with durability and open exchanges, while Danis bases his reputation on ground fighting, submissions and his ability to attract attention outside the fighting arena itself. Their possible meeting had also been mentioned previously. As early as March 2025, MMA Fighting reported that Perry claimed he had been offered a fight against Danis under the Misfits banner, but it did not materialize at the time. The agreement for Orlando therefore represents the conclusion of a longer period of speculation, although only the official rules, medical examinations and final preparations will confirm all operational details.
Duel Arena enters the market for hybrid combat sports events
Duel Arena's first event will attempt to bring several audiences together in a single program. The selection of Perry and Danis for the main event clearly shows that the new promotion is relying from the outset on recognizable names and contrasting fighting profiles. Perry brings UFC experience, the status of one of BKFC's biggest stars and a recent victory over Diaz at a globally watched event. For Danis, it is an opportunity to prove that his undefeated record is not merely the result of a small number of appearances and favorable opponents, but a foundation for a more serious place on the modern MMA scene. At the same time, both men are entering the match outside the structure of the largest traditional MMA organizations, in a project that has yet to prove its sporting and commercial sustainability. The result will therefore carry double significance: it will influence the future direction of the main fighters' careers and the first impression created by the new promotion.
Until August 29, the key unanswered questions remain the composition of the rest of the program, the exact rulebook, the duration of the main fight and the method of international broadcasting. Kia Center has so far confirmed the date, the starting time and the beginning of ticket sales, while MMA Fighting reported the promoter's statement regarding the combined program and the planned publication of additional information. Because this is an inaugural event, changes to the schedule or production details are possible, but the Perry-Danis contest itself has been presented as the evening's central event. If it takes place according to the announced plan, Orlando will host one of this year's more unusual encounters at the intersection of traditional MMA, boxing spectacle and a new generation of hybrid combat sports events in late August.
