As part of the GUSTI project – Gastro UpScaled Tourist Itinerary in rural regions of Croatia and Italy (ID: ITHR0200403), co-financed through the Interreg IT-HR 2021-2027 programme, a study visit (D.2.2.1 Study visits organized) was successfully carried out in Croatia, jointly organised by all project partners, with logistical coordination by Lika-Senj County, the Public Institution Regional Development Agency of Karlovac County - JURRA, and the Public Institution Agency for the Development of Zadar County ZADRA NOVA.
The visit was carried out from 17 to 19 March 2026 in the rural and peripheral areas of Lika-Senj County, Zadar County and Karlovac County, with a focus on the analysis of their development potential, and brought together partners and stakeholders from Croatia and Italy with the aim of exchanging experiences and collecting examples of good practice in the field of sustainable rural tourism.
During the implementation of the activity, through visits to selected locations and direct interaction with local experts, the participants gained insight into different models of sustainable tourism development in peripheral and rural areas. Special emphasis was placed on approaches that connect cultural heritage, local gastronomy and small producers, as well as on solutions aimed at strengthening local value chains and reducing the seasonality of the tourism offer.
