Zagreb police conducted an intensified inspection of gathered drivers and vehicles associated with the "Car meet scene" on Friday, August 23rd. This operation took place in a parking lot next to Ljubljanska Avenue, where participants of the so-called "street racing" culture gathered. Based on prior information, police officers focused their activities on this location to prevent illegal actions and ensure traffic safety. During the inspection, the police identified a series of traffic violations that resulted in penalties for several drivers.

Results of the police inspection
A total of 14 drivers were fined for improperly placed or invisible license plates, violating current traffic regulations.
One driver was penalized for driving on the sidewalk, endangering pedestrian safety.
Three drivers were not wearing seat belts, which is contrary to legal provisions on traffic safety.
Two persons were penalized for improper parking, further obstructing traffic at an already busy location.
One driver did not have a driver's license, which was also recorded as an offense.
One driver was fined for minor technical issues with the vehicle, which could pose a danger in traffic.
Most notably, one person was arrested for operating a vehicle without the right to drive. A criminal complaint was filed against them, and they will be brought before the competent court during the day.

Additional police activities
In addition to the mentioned penalties, the police inspected an additional 38 vehicles and identified drivers who attended the gathering. Although no traffic violations were found with these drivers, their identification was carried out for further monitoring and maintaining order.

Objectives and importance of the operation
This operation by the Zagreb police aimed to increase traffic safety and raise awareness among participants in the "Car meet scene." Such gatherings often attract drivers who participate in illegal races, which can result in serious traffic accidents. Additionally, regular inspections and police presence have a preventive role, as they deter participants from potentially dangerous activities on the roads.

Future plans
The Zagreb police will continue with such operations in the future, aiming to prevent illegal activities and ensure the safety of all traffic participants. Controls will be conducted at locations known to be frequent gathering places for "street racers," and the public will be promptly informed of the results of these activities. This is an important step towards raising traffic culture and ensuring safe road conditions for all citizens.
