The summer season in Novi Vinodolski reaches its peak with one of the most beloved and anticipated events, an event that has become synonymous with top summer entertainment in Kvarner – the Kilometre-long Festival. This unique blend of music, gastronomy, and tradition transforms the Novi Vinodolski coast into a pulsating open-air stage. This upcoming Monday, July 21st, starting at 8:00 PM, the Petar Krešimir IV Coast will come to life in its full glory, offering visitors an unforgettable experience that celebrates all the charms of summer.

This event is not just a festival, but a true celebration of life by the sea, designed to bring together locals and numerous tourists in one long, uninterrupted line of joy, laughter, and pleasure. The concept is simple, yet extremely effective: the entire promenade, from its very beginning to the popular Havana beach bar, becomes the epicenter of events, creating a "kilometre" of pure summer delight.

A Promenade of Rich Tastes, Scents, and Tradition

As evening falls and the first lights come on, the Petar Krešimir IV Coast will transform into a vibrant open-air market. Numerous exhibitors, guardians of tradition, and skilled craftsmen will proudly present their products at colorful stalls. Walkers will be enticed by the smells of freshly prepared sweets, from traditional fritule and kroštule to modern sweet delicacies. It will be an opportunity to taste and buy autochthonous products, such as award-winning domestic liqueurs and brandies made according to old recipes, medicinal honey from the Vinodol hinterland, and premium olive oils. Lovers of unique items will find something for themselves, as the offer will also include a wide range of handicrafts and original souvenirs, from handmade jewelry to works of art inspired by the sea and the Mediterranean.

The gastronomic offer will be further enriched with special points strategically placed along the promenade. In addition to the already known and appreciated offer of local restaurants and taverns, additional gastro facilities will be available to visitors. They will be located at the very beginning of the promenade and in the spacious parking lot below the former resort of Zagrebačke ceste. A rich selection of dishes is expected – from fresh grilled fish, juicy meat specialties to various other delicacies that will satisfy even the most demanding palates. This is an ideal opportunity to explore the flavors that define this beautiful coastal town.

A Musical Rhapsody Along the Kilometre-long Stage

Music is the heart and soul of the Kilometre-long Festival, and this year, a total of five musical bands are in charge of creating a superb atmosphere. Each of them brings its unique sound, ensuring that every meter of the promenade has its own musical backdrop. Visitors will be entertained at various points by:

  • Allegro band, known for their energetic performances and a wide repertoire that guarantees dancing late into the night.

  • Joso Butorac i Vivak, a combination of the powerful vocals of the "tenor from Kvarner" and an accompanying band that brings the most beautiful Mediterranean melodies.

  • Trio Arka, masters of creating a more intimate and relaxed atmosphere with the sounds of domestic and foreign evergreens.

  • Duo Urnebes, whose name says it all – in charge of laughter and good fun with rhythms that leave no one indifferent.

  • Damir Biondić (Bronz), a versatile musician who will complete this musical story with his recognizable style.

The diversity of genres, from pop and rock, through Dalmatian and klapa songs, to entertainment music, ensures that everyone will find something to their taste, and the music will be a faithful companion to all who decide to walk the most cheerful kilometre on the Adriatic.

Fun for the Whole Family and Lasting Memories

The Kilometre-long Festival thinks of all generations. The youngest visitors will have their own special corner full of laughter and play. Popular face painting will be organized for them, where the skillful hands of artists will turn children's faces into fairytale characters, animals, or superheroes. In addition, professional animators will ensure good fun through various interactive games and activities, allowing parents moments of relaxation while their children enjoy a safe and cheerful environment. To ensure that the memories of this magical summer night are permanently recorded, the organizers have also prepared several specially decorated photo corners. These picturesque spots, with a sea or summer theme, will be the perfect place to create photos that will be cherished and shared for a long time.

A Firework Spectacle as the Crown of the Evening

Exactly at 11:00 PM, all eyes will be turned towards the sky and the sea. That is when the most spectacular part of the evening begins – a magnificent fireworks display. But this is no ordinary fireworks display. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that it will be launched from the sea, from a platform that will move along the entire kilometre-long promenade. In this way, all visitors, regardless of where they are at that moment, will have a perfect view of the play of light and color. Thousands of sparkling rockets will illuminate the night sky above Novi Vinodolski, creating a breathtaking scene that represents the grand finale of this summer story.

Important Organizational Notes

In order for an event of this scale to be organized at the highest level of safety and quality, the cooperation of all citizens and visitors is necessary. Therefore, everyone is kindly requested to not park their vehicles on the Petar Krešimir IV Coast on the day of the festival, Monday, July 21st. The parking ban comes into effect as early as 2:00 PM so that the area can be prepared in a timely manner for the setup of stalls, stages, and other equipment. The coast will be completely closed to traffic until the late night hours and the end of the event. The utility company will inform all permanent users of the parking lot in a timely manner, and on the day of the event, wardens will close the approaches and direct vehicles to alternative parking spaces. The organizers thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation, because only with a joint effort can we ensure that this year's Kilometre-long Festival runs flawlessly and remains in the fondest memory of all.

Tourism desk

Our Travel Desk was born out of a long-standing passion for travel, discovering new places, and serious journalism. Behind every article stand people who have been living tourism for decades – as travelers, tourism workers, guides, hosts, editors, and reporters. For more than thirty years, destinations, seasonal trends, infrastructure development, changes in travelers’ habits, and everything that turns a trip into an experience – and not just a ticket and an accommodation reservation – have been closely followed. These experiences are transformed into articles conceived as a companion to the reader: honest, informed, and always on the traveler’s side.

At the Travel Desk, we write from the perspective of someone who has truly walked the cobblestones of old towns, taken local buses, waited for the ferry in peak season, and searched for a hidden café in a small alley far from the postcards. Every destination is observed from multiple angles – how travelers experience it, what the locals say about it, what stories are hidden in museums and monuments, but also what the real quality of accommodation, beaches, transport links, and amenities is. Instead of generic descriptions, the focus is on concrete advice, real impressions, and details that are hard to find in official brochures.

Special attention is given to conversations with restaurateurs, private accommodation hosts, local guides, tourism workers, and people who make a living from travelers, as well as those who are only just trying to develop lesser-known destinations. Through such conversations, stories arise that do not show only the most famous attractions but also the rhythm of everyday life, habits, local cuisine, customs, and small rituals that make every place unique. The Travel Desk strives to record this layer of reality and convey it in articles that connect facts with emotion.

The content does not stop at classic travelogues. It also covers topics such as sustainable tourism, off-season travel, safety on the road, responsible behavior towards the local community and nature, as well as practical aspects like public transport, prices, recommended neighborhoods to stay in, and getting your bearings on the ground. Every article goes through a phase of research, fact-checking, and editing to ensure that the information is accurate, clear, and applicable in real situations – from a short weekend trip to a longer stay in a country or city.

The goal of the Travel Desk is that, after reading an article, the reader feels as if they have spoken to someone who has already been there, tried everything, and is now honestly sharing what is worth seeing, what to skip, and where those moments are hidden that turn a trip into a memory. That is why every new story is built slowly and carefully, with respect for the place it is about and for the people who will choose their next destination based on these words.
