Novi Vinodolski, the pearl of the Kvarner coast, is pulsating this week in the rhythm of summer, offering a symphony of experiences that combines rich cultural heritage, a vibrant music scene, and the unmissable beauty of the Adriatic Sea. In the week ahead, this town, known for its hospitality and unique blend of coastal and Vinodol traditions, becomes an open-air stage. From intimate musical evenings celebrating legends, through adrenaline-pumping maritime adventures, to top performances of classical music, visitors and residents have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a diverse program that caters to all tastes. While you can relax on one of the beautiful beaches during the day, the evenings are reserved for cultural and entertainment events that create unforgettable memories and confirm why this very place is the perfect choice for a summer vacation. If you haven't already, now is the right time to explore all the charms that Novi Vinodolski has to offer.

The Magic of Handicrafts and Musical Tributes Under the Stars

The week begins today, Wednesday, August 6th, when the town center transforms into a vibrant promenade of creativity from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM. The event The Magic of Handicrafts opens its doors again, inviting everyone for a leisurely evening stroll filled with discoveries. Numerous local artists, craftsmen, and producers of indigenous delicacies will be presented at the stands. Visitors will have a unique opportunity to view and purchase original souvenirs, unique jewelry, art paintings inspired by the Mediterranean, and local products such as olive oil, honey, and medicinal herbs. This event is not just a fair, but a celebration of local identity and creative energy that enlivens the town's streets, creating a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere.

The very next day, Thursday, August 7th, a double program follows, combining the sea and the hinterland. After being postponed at the end of July due to bad weather, the long-awaited musical evening In Honor of Oliver will be held on the idyllic islet of San Marino. In a breathtaking ambiance – under the open sky, surrounded by the sea and the sound of waves – the band Trend will bring to life the timeless hits of the late Oliver Dragojević with their performances. The islet, which also houses the Gothic church of St. Marin, provides a perfect, almost magical backdrop for an evening full of emotions and memories. To make the experience complete, free boat transport is organized for all visitors, departing from 8:00 PM from the small pier on the Dr. Franjo Tuđman Promenade. The concert starts at 9:00 PM and promises an unforgettable evening.

At the same time, in the hinterland of Novi Vinodolski, in the village of Breze, the traditional Breze Night is held, also postponed due to bad weather. From 8:00 PM, a real folk festival celebrating local culture and gastronomy awaits all visitors. In addition to a rich offer of indigenous dishes and drinks, the popular music band Allegro will ensure top entertainment and dancing late into the night. This is an ideal opportunity to experience the authentic spirit of Vinodol, far from the summer bustle on the coast.

Sea, Sails, and Klapa Singing as the Heart of the Weekend

Friday, August 8th, is entirely dedicated to the sea and the maritime tradition that is deeply woven into the identity of this region. The event Sails of Vinodol offers a unique opportunity for all sea lovers to set sail on the open sea accompanied by experienced sailors. Although all spots for participation are already filled, the sight of the sailboats that will fill the waters in front of Novi Vinodolski will be a sight to remember. Departures are scheduled between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM from the town harbor, and participants, in addition to the sailing adventure, can also expect a coastal lunch and refreshments on board. This event celebrates skill, wind, and the beauty of the Adriatic, reviving old stories of sailors and fishermen.

After a day at sea, the evening brings a musical treat in nearby Klenovica. This small fishing village will become the stage for a concert by one of the most popular Croatian klapas – klapa Kampanel. Known for their energetic performance, rich instrumental arrangements, and superb vocals, Kampanel combines the traditional Dalmatian sound with modern elements, creating a unique musical expression. Their concerts are regularly filled with emotion and interaction with the audience, and the idyllic ambiance of Klenovica will further enhance the experience of Dalmatian charm and Mediterranean song.

Saturday evening, August 9th, continues in a musical tone. In the very center of Novi Vinodolski, starting at 9:00 PM, Trio Stop will perform, bringing a mix of domestic and foreign hits that will get everyone dancing and entertained. On the same day, art lovers will get their due with the opening of an exhibition at the Turnac City Gallery. The esteemed artist Hrvoje Hiršl continues his exhibition program, known for his conceptual works that explore the relationship between technology, nature, and human experience. His works, which often include robotic environments, sound installations, and various media, encourage reflection and offer a new perspective on reality. The exhibition will be open to visitors until August 19th.

The Climax of the Week with Vocal Virtuosos and Classical Elegance

Sunday, August 10th, brings a true musical spectacle to one of the most beautiful open-air stages, Precrikvi. Starting at 9:00 PM, Đani Stipaničev will perform, one of the most respected vocalists on the Croatian music scene. This distinguished theater tenor-baritone, the star of numerous domestic musicals and rock operas, is known for his exceptional vocal power, flawless technique, and charismatic stage presence. His repertoire covers a wide range of genres, from Dalmatian chanson and Italian canzonas to opera arias and pop-rock ballads, and his every performance provides the audience with a unique emotional experience. Tickets at a price of 10.00 euros can be purchased at the entrance, and this is an opportunity that lovers of top-quality music should not miss while staying in this area and looking for the ideal accommodation in Novi Vinodolski.

The cultural week will conclude on Tuesday, August 12th, as part of the 15th edition of the International Classical Music Festival Art Novi. For years, this festival has been enriching the town's cultural offer by bringing top domestic and world musicians. This time, in the beautiful ambiance of the Church of St. Philip and Jacob, a concert by the Kandinsky String Quartet will be held. This ensemble, which brings together award-winning musicians from the European scene, will present a select repertoire of classical literature to the audience. The string quartet, as one of the most elite forms of chamber music, will provide the audience with a sublime and intimate experience in the acoustic space of the church, perfect for ending a rich summer week. Each event of this week is a piece of the mosaic that makes up the summer story of Novi Vinodolski, inviting you to become a part of it.

Tourism desk

Our Travel Desk was born out of a long-standing passion for travel, discovering new places, and serious journalism. Behind every article stand people who have been living tourism for decades – as travelers, tourism workers, guides, hosts, editors, and reporters. For more than thirty years, destinations, seasonal trends, infrastructure development, changes in travelers’ habits, and everything that turns a trip into an experience – and not just a ticket and an accommodation reservation – have been closely followed. These experiences are transformed into articles conceived as a companion to the reader: honest, informed, and always on the traveler’s side.

At the Travel Desk, we write from the perspective of someone who has truly walked the cobblestones of old towns, taken local buses, waited for the ferry in peak season, and searched for a hidden café in a small alley far from the postcards. Every destination is observed from multiple angles – how travelers experience it, what the locals say about it, what stories are hidden in museums and monuments, but also what the real quality of accommodation, beaches, transport links, and amenities is. Instead of generic descriptions, the focus is on concrete advice, real impressions, and details that are hard to find in official brochures.

Special attention is given to conversations with restaurateurs, private accommodation hosts, local guides, tourism workers, and people who make a living from travelers, as well as those who are only just trying to develop lesser-known destinations. Through such conversations, stories arise that do not show only the most famous attractions but also the rhythm of everyday life, habits, local cuisine, customs, and small rituals that make every place unique. The Travel Desk strives to record this layer of reality and convey it in articles that connect facts with emotion.

The content does not stop at classic travelogues. It also covers topics such as sustainable tourism, off-season travel, safety on the road, responsible behavior towards the local community and nature, as well as practical aspects like public transport, prices, recommended neighborhoods to stay in, and getting your bearings on the ground. Every article goes through a phase of research, fact-checking, and editing to ensure that the information is accurate, clear, and applicable in real situations – from a short weekend trip to a longer stay in a country or city.

The goal of the Travel Desk is that, after reading an article, the reader feels as if they have spoken to someone who has already been there, tried everything, and is now honestly sharing what is worth seeing, what to skip, and where those moments are hidden that turn a trip into a memory. That is why every new story is built slowly and carefully, with respect for the place it is about and for the people who will choose their next destination based on these words.
