The second half of August brings a series of diverse events in Novi Vinodolski, offering an opportunity for a deeper exploration of local history, culture, and traditions. The programs are designed to cater to the interests of all generations, from the youngest to the slightly older ones.

A Walk Through History: Okolotorno and the Frankopans
One of the highlights in Novi Vinodolski is Okolotorno, which will take place on August 21st. This event offers a unique opportunity to walk through the old, stone-built town, with a rich offering of local products and traditional specialties. From 7:30 PM to 11:30 PM, visitors will be able to sample local delicacies, including prosciutto and wines from the Vinodol Valley, while enjoying the authentic atmosphere of a coastal tavern. Additionally, there will be a gathering with costumed members of the Frankopan family, adding to the authenticity of the experience.

Workshops for Children: Tinker Labs and Ivana's Magical Corner
The events are designed to include the youngest participants as well. In collaboration with Crikvenica, this year, for the first time, a Tinker workshop for children aged 3 to 12 will be organized. The workshop will be held in two sessions, at 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM, on Frankopan Square. The goal of these workshops is to enrich children's education through creative activities and scientific experiments. Simultaneously, Ivana's Magical Corner offers face painting and archery, allowing children to have fun and engage in activities tailored to their age group.

Celebrating 20 Years of the Ružica Vinodola Festival
The Ružica Vinodola Festival, which takes place from August 22nd to 25th, celebrates its 20th anniversary. This year's program will have a more ceremonial tone, with a special emphasis on those who have participated in the organization over the past 20 years. Additionally, all previous winners of the Ružica will have the opportunity to compete again in competitions that will take place on August 22nd in Pavlomir and August 23rd in Bribir. The best contestants can expect attractive prizes, while the Saturday competition will be particularly celebratory, including representatives from the media and the tourism sector.

Gastronomic Delights and Wine Offerings
In addition to the competitions, visitors can expect a rich music program featuring performances by the klapa Kampanel, B band, Damir Kedžo, the group Insula, Berekini, DJ Saša Šoštarić, Dellboys, and the group Trend. The Saturday gastronomic event, led by Antonija Mikac Tonka, a former Masterchef contestant, is particularly interesting. She will prepare a new dish inspired by traditional ingredients, which will be paired with Ružica Vinodola, a rosé from the Pavlomir winery, perfect for summer days.

Wine Festival: A Celebration of Wine and Tradition
From August 23rd to 25th, Novi Vinodolski will host a mini wine festival in collaboration with the Kvarner Wines association. The festival brings together winemakers from all over Croatia, including Slavonia, Međimurje, Pokuplje, Moslavina, Istria, Dalmatia, and ten wineries from Kvarner. Pavlomir, as the host, will showcase the best of Kvarner's wine tradition, while visitors can enjoy tastings that celebrate the rich enological heritage of the region.

Fun for Children: Historical Games and Creative Workshops
For the youngest visitors, numerous activities inspired by local history have been organized. Children will be able to participate in doll making, play old games, and have fun on a wooden carousel with baskets. Additionally, face painting corners have been organized, and each participant will have the opportunity to create their own print on a canvas bag to take home as a souvenir. Florist Zola has prepared special flower wreaths to revive the tradition and bygone times of Ružica Vinodola.

We invite everyone to take this opportunity and spend unforgettable moments in Novi Vinodolski, participating in the rich program we have prepared for all generations. Bring your family and friends and join us in celebrating the beauty and tradition of our region.

Tourism desk

Our Travel Desk was born out of a long-standing passion for travel, discovering new places, and serious journalism. Behind every article stand people who have been living tourism for decades – as travelers, tourism workers, guides, hosts, editors, and reporters. For more than thirty years, destinations, seasonal trends, infrastructure development, changes in travelers’ habits, and everything that turns a trip into an experience – and not just a ticket and an accommodation reservation – have been closely followed. These experiences are transformed into articles conceived as a companion to the reader: honest, informed, and always on the traveler’s side.

At the Travel Desk, we write from the perspective of someone who has truly walked the cobblestones of old towns, taken local buses, waited for the ferry in peak season, and searched for a hidden café in a small alley far from the postcards. Every destination is observed from multiple angles – how travelers experience it, what the locals say about it, what stories are hidden in museums and monuments, but also what the real quality of accommodation, beaches, transport links, and amenities is. Instead of generic descriptions, the focus is on concrete advice, real impressions, and details that are hard to find in official brochures.

Special attention is given to conversations with restaurateurs, private accommodation hosts, local guides, tourism workers, and people who make a living from travelers, as well as those who are only just trying to develop lesser-known destinations. Through such conversations, stories arise that do not show only the most famous attractions but also the rhythm of everyday life, habits, local cuisine, customs, and small rituals that make every place unique. The Travel Desk strives to record this layer of reality and convey it in articles that connect facts with emotion.

The content does not stop at classic travelogues. It also covers topics such as sustainable tourism, off-season travel, safety on the road, responsible behavior towards the local community and nature, as well as practical aspects like public transport, prices, recommended neighborhoods to stay in, and getting your bearings on the ground. Every article goes through a phase of research, fact-checking, and editing to ensure that the information is accurate, clear, and applicable in real situations – from a short weekend trip to a longer stay in a country or city.

The goal of the Travel Desk is that, after reading an article, the reader feels as if they have spoken to someone who has already been there, tried everything, and is now honestly sharing what is worth seeing, what to skip, and where those moments are hidden that turn a trip into a memory. That is why every new story is built slowly and carefully, with respect for the place it is about and for the people who will choose their next destination based on these words.
