Heritage in Bakar
Bakar's "Margaretino Summer" offers a series of themed tours, allowing visitors to explore local history in an intriguing way. This year, we explored upcoming events that will enrich the Bakar program.
Frankopan Adventure
The evening of June 25 promises an exciting walk from Hreljin to the Hreljin Castle, a historical stronghold of the Frankopan family. The trail is enhanced with interpretive panels offering a "playful adventure," which can be experienced alone or in company. This Tuesday at 8:30 PM, the Bakar Tourist Board organizes the third "playful evening walk" to Hreljin. The walk is led by Iva Silla, dressed as a Frankopan lady, and is intended for participants aged 7 to 77. Departure is in front of the Kindergarten in Hreljin.
A Walk Through History
On Saturday, June 29, a "Walk Through History" will take place with a rich program. From 6 PM, visitors can peek into the library of the Bakar Maritime School, where they will see old maps and books. The "Secrets of the School Library" program offers a unique insight into the past. At 7:30 PM, an exhibition "Inspired by Bakar" will open at the new square by the pontoon walkway, showcasing ideas created during the interpretive writers' course.
At 8 PM, two programs begin. "Networks of Memory" is a themed tour dedicated to Bakar's maritime and fishing heritage, led by Iva Silla. The tour starts at the new square. In the Upper Town, from 8 to 10 PM, an Open Doors Evening will be held, where visitors can freely tour landmarks such as the co-cathedral of St. Andrew, the church of St. Cross, and the Bakar Castle.
Sweet Ending – Klapa Cambi
The "Walk Through History" program concludes with a performance by the klapa Cambi from Kaštel Kambelovac. The concert starts in front of the Castle at 10 PM. Admission is free for all programs.
