Lika-Senj County will soon shine in its full glory, preparing for an evening that celebrates beauty, elegance, and tradition. In the very heart of Lika, the historic city of Gospić, will host the prestigious Miss Lika-Senj County pageant for the 31st edition of Miss Croatia on October 4th. This glamorous event will be held as part of the beloved "Autumn in Lika" festival, creating a unique blend of modern glamour and authentic Lika spirit. Girls from all over the county will have the opportunity to present their charm, intelligence, and beauty, while the audience will enjoy an evening filled with fashion, music, and an unforgettable atmosphere. Anyone who decides to visit Gospić at that time will witness a perfect harmony of nature and elegance.

The "Autumn in Lika" festival is in itself the crown of the year's events in the region and provides the perfect backdrop for a beauty pageant. It is not just a fair, but an experience that awakens all the senses. The intoxicating scent of roasted chestnuts and freshly baked bread spreads through the air, while the warmth from the Lika hearth creates a feeling of home and togetherness. At every step, one can feel tranquility and a deep connection with nature, which gives this pageant a special, more intimate note. It is precisely this magic of autumn, with its palette of gold, red, and brown tones flooding the landscape, that will create an unforgettable scenography for the contestants and all the guests.

A blend of authentic flavors and natural beauties

Visitors to this event will have a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the richness of Lika's culture and gastronomy. Alongside watching the Miss pageant, they will be able to explore traditional fairs where local producers proudly display their homemade products. The stalls will feature the unmissable Lika potato, known for its quality, škripavac cheese that delights with its texture, homemade brandies made according to old recipes, as well as various types of honey and jams. This event, therefore, goes beyond a classic beauty pageant; it is an invitation for everyone to discover Lika in its most generous and beautiful attire. Walks through the Velebit forests, which become true works of art of nature in October, will further enrich the experience for anyone who decides to visit this region. That is precisely why accommodation in Gospić and its surroundings is in extremely high demand during this period.

As the administrative, cultural, and historical center of Lika-Senj County, Gospić offers much more than just the role of a host. The city is inextricably linked to the mighty Velebit mountain that watches over it, and its proximity to the Plitvice Lakes National Park makes it an ideal starting point for exploring Croatia's natural pearls. Its rich cultural and historical heritage, which includes the "Nikola Tesla" Memorial Center in nearby Smiljan, further confirms the importance of this city. The pageant organizers proudly emphasize that autumn, when Lika shows its most magnificent colors, will provide the perfect framework for a blend of elegance and authentic Lika spirit.

"This year, our vision is to provide the contestants, as well as the entire audience, with a unique and unforgettable experience. Our goal is to organize an evening that will intertwine fashion, regional culture, and the emotions that Lika-Senj County carries within itself in the most beautiful way possible. I want to express my deep gratitude to our main sponsors, without whom this would not be possible: the City of Gospić, the local Tourist Board, Lika-Senj County, and personally to County Prefect Ernest Petry," said Iva Loparić Kontek, the owner of the Miss Croatia for Miss World license, emphasizing the importance of synergy between the local community and the organization.

The musical and hosting mark of the event

The musical part of the evening will be handled by the popular singer Sandi Cenov, better known as Sandi, whose performance will surely further elevate the atmosphere and entertain the audience with his timeless hits. Guiding the viewers safely and skillfully through the program and all its segments will be Davor Garić, a well-known television personality with many years of experience, whose professionalism and charisma will bring an extra dose of glamour to the entire event.

Jana Biondić – Lika's representative on the national stage

While Lika is preparing for the election of a new Miss, the county's current representative, the beautiful Jana Biondić, is intensively preparing for her participation in the grand finale of the 30th Miss Croatia pageant. The finale of this prestigious competition will be held at the end of October in Zagreb, where Jana, along with the winners of other county pageants, will compete for the title of the most beautiful Croatian woman. Preparations are in full swing, and the finalists face a series of challenges that go far beyond mere physical beauty.

At the final pageant, their versatility and talent will be judged across five key categories: sports, talent, multimedia, top model, and interview. In the sports category, the girls will demonstrate their physical fitness, while in the talent show they will have the opportunity to showcase their unique skills, whether it be singing, dancing, painting, or some other talent. The multimedia category assesses their ability to communicate through social networks and modern platforms, which is an indispensable part of public life today. Through the top model category, their posture, walk, and performance on the fashion runway will be judged, while the interview with the jury members will reveal their intelligence, eloquence, and personality. It is through this comprehensive approach that the finalists get the opportunity to show who they really are – complete, educated, and ambitious young women.

The winner of the national final will carry the flattering title of Miss Croatia and will receive the exceptional honor and responsibility of representing her homeland at the 73rd Miss World pageant, which will be held next spring. This is an opportunity to promote Croatia on a global stage, but also to participate in the "Beauty with a Purpose" humanitarian project, which is the core of the Miss World competition.

Become a part of the tradition – applications for the new Miss are open!

Simultaneously with the preparations for the national final, the Miss Croatia for Miss World Directorate has launched a new cycle of county competitions for the 31st Miss Croatia. This means that at the pageant in Gospić, the beautiful Jana Biondić will hand over the crown to her successor, who will proudly wear the sash of Miss Lika-Senj County 2025.

The Directorate hereby invites all girls from Lika-Senj County who dream of a career in the world of fashion, who want to gain self-confidence and realize their stage ambitions, to apply for the competition. Participation in the Miss Croatia pageant provides an invaluable opportunity for personal and professional growth, media recognition, and making valuable contacts that can open many doors in the future.

All interested girls must meet the following application requirements:

  • Minimum age of 17.

  • Residence or domicile in the Lika-Senj County, or provable origin from the county.

  • Willingness to take a professional approach to stage performances, media interviews, and potentially representing the Republic of Croatia at the Miss World pageant.

To apply, you need to send a photo of your face (portrait), a full-figure photo, and a short biography with personal and contact information to the e-mail address: iva.kontek@gmail.com. The contact person for all additional information is Iva Loparić Kontek.

The Miss Croatia pageant, with a tradition of more than three decades, has grown into one of the most recognizable brands on the domestic fashion and entertainment scene. The winner of the national pageant becomes not only a symbol of beauty but also an ambassador who promotes Croatia, its tourism, culture, and the importance of humanitarian work and social engagement on the world stage of Miss World.

Tourism desk

Our Travel Desk was born out of a long-standing passion for travel, discovering new places, and serious journalism. Behind every article stand people who have been living tourism for decades – as travelers, tourism workers, guides, hosts, editors, and reporters. For more than thirty years, destinations, seasonal trends, infrastructure development, changes in travelers’ habits, and everything that turns a trip into an experience – and not just a ticket and an accommodation reservation – have been closely followed. These experiences are transformed into articles conceived as a companion to the reader: honest, informed, and always on the traveler’s side.

At the Travel Desk, we write from the perspective of someone who has truly walked the cobblestones of old towns, taken local buses, waited for the ferry in peak season, and searched for a hidden café in a small alley far from the postcards. Every destination is observed from multiple angles – how travelers experience it, what the locals say about it, what stories are hidden in museums and monuments, but also what the real quality of accommodation, beaches, transport links, and amenities is. Instead of generic descriptions, the focus is on concrete advice, real impressions, and details that are hard to find in official brochures.

Special attention is given to conversations with restaurateurs, private accommodation hosts, local guides, tourism workers, and people who make a living from travelers, as well as those who are only just trying to develop lesser-known destinations. Through such conversations, stories arise that do not show only the most famous attractions but also the rhythm of everyday life, habits, local cuisine, customs, and small rituals that make every place unique. The Travel Desk strives to record this layer of reality and convey it in articles that connect facts with emotion.

The content does not stop at classic travelogues. It also covers topics such as sustainable tourism, off-season travel, safety on the road, responsible behavior towards the local community and nature, as well as practical aspects like public transport, prices, recommended neighborhoods to stay in, and getting your bearings on the ground. Every article goes through a phase of research, fact-checking, and editing to ensure that the information is accurate, clear, and applicable in real situations – from a short weekend trip to a longer stay in a country or city.

The goal of the Travel Desk is that, after reading an article, the reader feels as if they have spoken to someone who has already been there, tried everything, and is now honestly sharing what is worth seeing, what to skip, and where those moments are hidden that turn a trip into a memory. That is why every new story is built slowly and carefully, with respect for the place it is about and for the people who will choose their next destination based on these words.
