Fans of pedaling, nature, and socializing are invited to reserve Saturday, May 10, 2025, for a unique cycling adventure that connects three picturesque towns of the Zagreb ring. The event, called the Green Tricycle, with the subtitle "three towns, two pedals, one adventure", offers an opportunity for recreation and exploring the beauties of the Dugo Selo, Sveti Ivan Zelina, and Vrbovec areas on two wheels. This is not a competition, but a joint ride designed for enjoying a spring day, the landscape, and good company.

Three Starting Locations, One Common Goal

The organizers have designed a concept that allows participants flexibility in choosing their starting point. Cyclists can start their ride from one of three locations: in front of the Sports and Recreation Center (ŠRC) in Sveti Ivan Zelina, at the football club (NK) Vrbovec, or from the popular Martin Breg in Dugo Selo. Regardless of the chosen starting point, all routes lead towards a common goal – the popular Pub Cubismo located in Lonjica. It is right there, after a pleasant ride, that the grand finale awaits all participants: a joint gathering with musical accompaniment, refreshments in the form of tasty snacks and drinks, and a relaxed atmosphere celebrating movement and togetherness.

The planned start time for all rides is exactly 11:00 AM. To ensure everything runs smoothly and without unnecessary rush, participant registration will be possible at the starting locations themselves in the time interval from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM. This gives everyone enough time to arrive, complete the formalities, and prepare for the start.

Routes Adapted for Everyone

One of the key features of the Green Tricycle is its accessibility. The routes are carefully planned to be suitable for a wide range of participants – from more experienced recreational cyclists to families with children who want to spend an active day in nature. The lengths of the trails vary depending on the starting location, ranging from a pleasant 10.7 kilometers to slightly more challenging, but still manageable, 19.1 kilometers. The ride will take place on local roads, integrated into regular traffic. Therefore, it is extremely important that all participants are aware of traffic rules and strictly adhere to them throughout the ride, taking care of their own safety and the safety of other road users. The organizers will provide route guidance, but the responsibility for complying with regulations lies with each individual. The terrain through which the routes pass is mostly gentle, characteristic of the Prigorje region, with alternating gentle climbs and descents, fields, and green areas, making the ride visually interesting and not too physically demanding.

Registrations and Participation

Given the logistical needs and the desire to ensure a quality experience for all participants, the number of places for the Green Tricycle is limited. Therefore, registrations are mandatory and are open until Monday, May 5, 2025. All interested parties are invited to secure their spot in time by filling out a simple online form. The link to the form is available via the Facebook event dedicated to this event, as well as on social networks and the official websites of the tourist boards of the organizing cities.

Participation requires a symbolic donation of 5 euros per person. With this payment, participants not only support the organization of the event but also receive a package that includes an official Green Tricycle t-shirt as a souvenir, a bottle of water for refreshment during the ride, a tasty meal at the finish line in Pub Cubismo, and the service of organized route guidance from start to finish. The donation can be paid in two ways: in person, in cash, at the offices of the Tourist Board of the Town of Dugo Selo, the Tourist Board of the Town of Sveti Ivan Zelina, or the Tourist Board of the Town of Vrbovec during their working hours, or via internet banking to the IBAN account HR52 2340 0093 2175 7145 2, with the description "Donacija Zeleni tricikl" and the participant's name.

Promoting Active Life and Connecting Communities

Behind the organization of this recreational event are the combined forces of three tourist boards: the Tourist Board of the Town of Dugo Selo, the Tourist Board of the Town of Sveti Ivan Zelina, and the Tourist Board of the Town of Vrbovec. Their common goal goes beyond merely organizing a cycling ride. Their desire is to actively promote the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle, encourage citizens of all ages to spend time in nature and move, and, through such joint initiatives, strengthen the ties between the local communities of these three neighboring towns. The Green Tricycle thus becomes a platform for meeting, socializing, and creating a positive atmosphere, using cycling as a tool to connect people and promote the beauties of the Prigorje region. This part of Zagreb County offers numerous opportunities for recreation, and cycling is an ideal way to explore its hidden corners, vineyards, fields, and groves. For those coming from further away, it is worth considering finding accommodation in Dugo Selo or exploring overnight options in Sveti Ivan Zelina, and even checking the accommodation offer in Vrbovec to make the weekend complete.

Don't Miss the Spring Adventure

This is an open invitation to all enthusiasts of two-wheeled riding, nature lovers, and everyone who appreciates good company and a relaxed atmosphere. Don't miss the opportunity to be part of this green spring adventure. Register on time, no later than May 5th, and secure your place at the start of one of the three attractive routes. Prepare your bikes, invite friends and family, and join the cheerful caravan that will connect Dugo Selo, Sveti Ivan Zelina, and Vrbovec on May 10th in a unique recreational spirit.

Tourism desk

Our Travel Desk was born out of a long-standing passion for travel, discovering new places, and serious journalism. Behind every article stand people who have been living tourism for decades – as travelers, tourism workers, guides, hosts, editors, and reporters. For more than thirty years, destinations, seasonal trends, infrastructure development, changes in travelers’ habits, and everything that turns a trip into an experience – and not just a ticket and an accommodation reservation – have been closely followed. These experiences are transformed into articles conceived as a companion to the reader: honest, informed, and always on the traveler’s side.

At the Travel Desk, we write from the perspective of someone who has truly walked the cobblestones of old towns, taken local buses, waited for the ferry in peak season, and searched for a hidden café in a small alley far from the postcards. Every destination is observed from multiple angles – how travelers experience it, what the locals say about it, what stories are hidden in museums and monuments, but also what the real quality of accommodation, beaches, transport links, and amenities is. Instead of generic descriptions, the focus is on concrete advice, real impressions, and details that are hard to find in official brochures.

Special attention is given to conversations with restaurateurs, private accommodation hosts, local guides, tourism workers, and people who make a living from travelers, as well as those who are only just trying to develop lesser-known destinations. Through such conversations, stories arise that do not show only the most famous attractions but also the rhythm of everyday life, habits, local cuisine, customs, and small rituals that make every place unique. The Travel Desk strives to record this layer of reality and convey it in articles that connect facts with emotion.

The content does not stop at classic travelogues. It also covers topics such as sustainable tourism, off-season travel, safety on the road, responsible behavior towards the local community and nature, as well as practical aspects like public transport, prices, recommended neighborhoods to stay in, and getting your bearings on the ground. Every article goes through a phase of research, fact-checking, and editing to ensure that the information is accurate, clear, and applicable in real situations – from a short weekend trip to a longer stay in a country or city.

The goal of the Travel Desk is that, after reading an article, the reader feels as if they have spoken to someone who has already been there, tried everything, and is now honestly sharing what is worth seeing, what to skip, and where those moments are hidden that turn a trip into a memory. That is why every new story is built slowly and carefully, with respect for the place it is about and for the people who will choose their next destination based on these words.
