Every day brings a new opportunity to discover the charms that Poreč offers, from mystical walks through illuminated parks to top musical performances in historical settings.

The Magic of Light and Sound in Olga Ban Park

The week begins tonight, August 18, with a unique event that blurs the lines between reality and imagination. With the first twilight, precisely at 9 PM, Olga Ban Park will once again transform into Mystic Forest, an innovative evening program that has already won the hearts of many visitors. It is a suggestive walk through nature that becomes an art installation. Through a carefully designed play of light, sound, and stage effects, visitors will walk on paths that come to life in a completely new way. Dance performances, musical backdrops that blend with the surroundings, and light installations create a surreal experience for all senses. This program is an ideal opportunity for families and all those seeking an escape from the usual summer bustle, offering moments of relaxation and admiration in the magical atmosphere of the park by the sea. Admission to this extraordinary event is free.

Young Musical Talents on Freedom Square

The very next day, on Tuesday, August 19, the central city square, Freedom Square, will become a stage for the young hopes of the European music scene. Starting at 9 PM, the talented students of the Václav Vačkář Art School from the Czech Republic will present themselves to the Poreč audience and its guests. These young musicians bring a breath of fresh energy and international musical spirit. Their repertoire is eclectic and dynamic, covering everything from classical jazz and jazz-rock compositions to modern arrangements of famous world hits and timeless evergreens. The open-air concert, in the heart of the old town, will provide visitors with an unforgettable musical evening under the stars and show how music successfully connects different cultures and generations.

A Double Musical Treat on Wednesday

Wednesday, August 20, is reserved for lovers of different musical genres, offering two outstanding free concerts at two beautiful locations. As part of the Sunset Vibes Poreč program, the newly renovated Poreč Marina will host one of the most esteemed Dalmatian singer-songwriters, Tedi Spalato. His recognizable Mediterranean expression, imbued with elements of chanson and jazz, will perfectly fit into the ambiance of the sunset over the sea. From 9 PM, the audience will be able to enjoy timeless hits such as "Sve ću preživit'", "More snova", "Dalmatino, povišću pritrujena", "Vidi li se šta odozgar" and "Ako stvarno voliš ženu". This concert offers a perfect summer atmosphere and an emotional musical journey, ideal for all who have found their accommodation in Poreč and want to experience the authentic sound of the Mediterranean.

On the same evening, in the more intimate setting of the Lapidarium of the Poreč Heritage Museum, the jubilee 30th edition of the renowned festival Jazz in the Lapidarium continues. This long-standing event, which began back in 1996, has become synonymous with quality jazz and an unmissable point on the cultural map of Istria. This Wednesday, the SU-TON Quartet will perform, a group whose sound and approach to improvisation lean on the tradition of European jazz. The quartet is composed of excellent musicians: Luka Čapeta on electric guitar, Tin Džaferović on double bass, Nikola Vuković on trumpet and cornet, and Borko Rupena on drums and percussion. Their synergy and musical interaction promise a top-notch jazz experience in the unique stone ambiance of the museum's lapidarium.

A Journey Through the History and Flavors of Istria

Thursday, August 21, is a day for exploring rich history and gastronomy. At 7 PM, another interpretative walk "La mula de Parenzo Tour" begins, inspired by the city's unofficial anthem. Led by professional actors, this tour takes visitors through the hidden corners of the old town, bringing to life the story of the most famous woman from Poreč from the song and revealing lesser-known details from the city's rich past. The walk is free, but due to high interest, reservations are required and can be made by phone (091 432 3745) or e-mail (lamuladeparenzo@muzejporec.hr). On the same day, from 9 AM to 8 PM, Freedom Square turns into a treasury of tastes and smells at the Exhibition of Istrian Autochthonous Products. Local family farms will present their best products, and visitors will have the opportunity to taste and buy premium olive oils, award-winning wines, homemade cheeses, prosciutto, honey, and other delicacies for which Istria is famous.

Classics Under the Starry Vault of the Euphrasiana

Friday, August 22, brings musical sublimity to one of the most beautiful monuments of early Byzantine art in the Mediterranean. In the magical ambiance of the Euphrasian Basilica, which has been under UNESCO protection since 1997, the prestigious classical music series "Concerts in the Euphrasiana" continues. This event, with a tradition of more than six decades, hosts top domestic and world musicians. This week, one of the most promising Croatian pianists of the younger generation, Lovro Marušić, will be presented to the audience. His repertoire will include masterpieces by great composers such as Ludwig van Beethoven, Frédéric Chopin, Henri Dutilleux, and Robert Schumann. Experiencing classical music in the acoustic and spiritual environment of the Euphrasiana is a unique experience that attracts visitors from all over the world, who often look for the ideal apartment or hotel in Poreč to be at the center of cultural events. Tickets are available online or at the entrance to the basilica from 8 PM.

Film Weekend in the Open Air with Music Icons

The end of the week is reserved for film lovers and music fans. At the city beach, in the pleasant shade of the small wood near the Court, the Poreč Sunset Cinema is held. This open-air cinema offers a relaxed atmosphere and screenings of musical film classics. On Friday, August 22, the documentary film "This Is It" is scheduled, dedicated to the late king of pop, Michael Jackson. The film provides a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the preparations for his last, never-held concert tour, showcasing the genius and perfectionism of one of the greatest artists of all time. A day later, on Saturday, August 23, the audience will be able to enjoy the cult classic "Purple Rain" from 1984. This musical drama, starring Prince, left an indelible mark on the history of film and music, and its soundtrack became one of the best-selling albums in history. Admission to all film screenings is free, and visitors are advised to bring blankets and arrive early to get the best spot.

Tourism desk

Our Travel Desk was born out of a long-standing passion for travel, discovering new places, and serious journalism. Behind every article stand people who have been living tourism for decades – as travelers, tourism workers, guides, hosts, editors, and reporters. For more than thirty years, destinations, seasonal trends, infrastructure development, changes in travelers’ habits, and everything that turns a trip into an experience – and not just a ticket and an accommodation reservation – have been closely followed. These experiences are transformed into articles conceived as a companion to the reader: honest, informed, and always on the traveler’s side.

At the Travel Desk, we write from the perspective of someone who has truly walked the cobblestones of old towns, taken local buses, waited for the ferry in peak season, and searched for a hidden café in a small alley far from the postcards. Every destination is observed from multiple angles – how travelers experience it, what the locals say about it, what stories are hidden in museums and monuments, but also what the real quality of accommodation, beaches, transport links, and amenities is. Instead of generic descriptions, the focus is on concrete advice, real impressions, and details that are hard to find in official brochures.

Special attention is given to conversations with restaurateurs, private accommodation hosts, local guides, tourism workers, and people who make a living from travelers, as well as those who are only just trying to develop lesser-known destinations. Through such conversations, stories arise that do not show only the most famous attractions but also the rhythm of everyday life, habits, local cuisine, customs, and small rituals that make every place unique. The Travel Desk strives to record this layer of reality and convey it in articles that connect facts with emotion.

The content does not stop at classic travelogues. It also covers topics such as sustainable tourism, off-season travel, safety on the road, responsible behavior towards the local community and nature, as well as practical aspects like public transport, prices, recommended neighborhoods to stay in, and getting your bearings on the ground. Every article goes through a phase of research, fact-checking, and editing to ensure that the information is accurate, clear, and applicable in real situations – from a short weekend trip to a longer stay in a country or city.

The goal of the Travel Desk is that, after reading an article, the reader feels as if they have spoken to someone who has already been there, tried everything, and is now honestly sharing what is worth seeing, what to skip, and where those moments are hidden that turn a trip into a memory. That is why every new story is built slowly and carefully, with respect for the place it is about and for the people who will choose their next destination based on these words.
