The city of Rijeka will once again shine in all its glory this year with a rich program of the Rijeka Carnival, an event that attracts thousands of participants and visitors every year. The city will transform into a center of joy, color, and tradition, with a special emphasis placed on the youngest participants who will bring joy to the hearts of the audience with their creative masks and choreographies.

Children's Carnival Parade – the heart of the young masked forces

One of the most anticipated events of the Rijeka Carnival is the Children's Carnival Parade, which gathers thousands of children from all over Croatia every year. This Saturday, February 15, starting at 1 PM, the little ones will flood the streets of Rijeka in a cheerful procession, wearing imaginative costumes that reflect their creativity, the efforts of parents, educators, and teachers, as well as the richness of the cultural heritage.

This year, a record number of participants have registered – over 6,700 children organized into 70 groups, accompanied by allegorical floats that will further beautify the procession. Their journey begins at the Karolina Rijeka quay, passes through the central streets of Rijeka, with a special focus on the Korzo, and ends at the Export Delta.

Spectacular introduction to the joy

Before the parade starts, visitors will be greeted by a diverse entertainment program. The audience will be delighted by the performance of the Rijeka Majorettes, after which the stage will be taken over by the children's choir whose cheerful voices announce the arrival of the masked groups. This year, the election of the Prince and Princess of the Rijeka Carnival is also returning, which will add to the magic of this event.

Sports spirit and adrenaline fun

The Rijeka Carnival is not just a parade and procession – it is also a mix of sports, adrenaline, and laughter. One of the most exciting events is the Carnival Run, a race that brings together athletes and carnival enthusiasts. It will take place on Sunday, February 23, along the promenade by the sea, offering participants a fun and dynamic experience, all in the spirit of the carnival atmosphere.

Extreme sports enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the Carnival Snowboard Session, an international competition that gathers snowboarders eager for adrenaline. It will be held at Platak, where participants will show their skills in attractive tricks and jumps, with a rich accompanying program that includes music, animations, and of course – masked competitors.

Days of Laughter – when humor takes the stage

For those who prefer the theater stage, the program "Days of Laughter at the Carnival" has been organized. As part of this event, the audience will enjoy hilarious performances that bring top-notch comedy and laughter to tears. The performances are tailored for all generations, with the main goal being to lift the spirits and further enrich the carnival spirit.

Tradition, unity, and the future

The Rijeka Carnival is not just a series of events, but a living tradition that connects generations. Thanks to the enthusiasm of everyone involved – from children, parents, and educators to athletes, artists, and organizers – this event grows and develops every year, preserving the heritage that has lasted for centuries. The participation of a large number of children is the best indicator that the carnival has a bright future and will continue to delight all mask enthusiasts.

Tourism desk

Our Travel Desk was born out of a long-standing passion for travel, discovering new places, and serious journalism. Behind every article stand people who have been living tourism for decades – as travelers, tourism workers, guides, hosts, editors, and reporters. For more than thirty years, destinations, seasonal trends, infrastructure development, changes in travelers’ habits, and everything that turns a trip into an experience – and not just a ticket and an accommodation reservation – have been closely followed. These experiences are transformed into articles conceived as a companion to the reader: honest, informed, and always on the traveler’s side.

At the Travel Desk, we write from the perspective of someone who has truly walked the cobblestones of old towns, taken local buses, waited for the ferry in peak season, and searched for a hidden café in a small alley far from the postcards. Every destination is observed from multiple angles – how travelers experience it, what the locals say about it, what stories are hidden in museums and monuments, but also what the real quality of accommodation, beaches, transport links, and amenities is. Instead of generic descriptions, the focus is on concrete advice, real impressions, and details that are hard to find in official brochures.

Special attention is given to conversations with restaurateurs, private accommodation hosts, local guides, tourism workers, and people who make a living from travelers, as well as those who are only just trying to develop lesser-known destinations. Through such conversations, stories arise that do not show only the most famous attractions but also the rhythm of everyday life, habits, local cuisine, customs, and small rituals that make every place unique. The Travel Desk strives to record this layer of reality and convey it in articles that connect facts with emotion.

The content does not stop at classic travelogues. It also covers topics such as sustainable tourism, off-season travel, safety on the road, responsible behavior towards the local community and nature, as well as practical aspects like public transport, prices, recommended neighborhoods to stay in, and getting your bearings on the ground. Every article goes through a phase of research, fact-checking, and editing to ensure that the information is accurate, clear, and applicable in real situations – from a short weekend trip to a longer stay in a country or city.

The goal of the Travel Desk is that, after reading an article, the reader feels as if they have spoken to someone who has already been there, tried everything, and is now honestly sharing what is worth seeing, what to skip, and where those moments are hidden that turn a trip into a memory. That is why every new story is built slowly and carefully, with respect for the place it is about and for the people who will choose their next destination based on these words.
