The beginning of summer in Poreč was marked in a truly spectacular way, confirming the city's status as one of the most vibrant spots on the Adriatic. Last Saturday, June 21, as the sun bid farewell to the day and gave way to the starry sky, the newly renovated Poreč Marina became the stage for a musical magic called "Greeting to Summer". Organized by the Poreč Tourist Board, this free concert attracted an impressive number of citizens and tourists, who gathered to witness an event that combines top-notch art with the unique ambiance of the Istrian coast. The evening was imbued with a sense of community and celebration, an ideal introduction to the long, warm summer ahead of us.

From the very beginning, the atmosphere was charged with positive energy. The sound of the sea, a light breeze, and the silhouettes of yachts created a backdrop that was an experience in itself. When the first notes echoed through the marina, it became clear that this would not be just another summer concert, but a meticulously designed artistic journey. The event was a true gift to the city and its guests, showing how Poreč knows how to nurture culture and provide its visitors with unforgettable memories.

The Newly Renovated Marina: A Pearl of the Poreč Riva and a New Cultural Oasis

The location itself gave special significance to this event. The newly renovated Poreč Marina, which recently underwent an extensive transformation, was officially inaugurated with this concert as a new center for social and cultural events. The renovation project, which included paving with natural stone and modern materials, installing energy-efficient lighting, and new communal equipment, has breathed new life into this vital part of the city. The marina, built back in the 1970s, now shines with a new splendor, ready to host not only sailors but also to become a favorite gathering place for evening walks and events. Choosing the marina for the "Greeting to Summer" concert proved to be a perfect choice, as the space shone in its full glory, and its functionality and aesthetics were fully expressed, offering visitors who found their accommodation in Poreč a unique experience.

Stars of the Evening: A Trio That Leaves You Breathless

The backbone of the musical spectacle was a trio of extraordinary artists whose synergy created an evening to remember. Two divas of the Croatian music scene took the stage – Sandra Bagarić and Danijela Pintarić, accompanied by maestro Darko Domitrović on the piano.

Sandra Bagarić, an opera singer known for her powerful soprano voice, as well as her incredible charisma and stage presence, once again proved why she is one of the most beloved artists in the region. Her ability to effortlessly transition from the world of opera to musicals and chansons, while maintaining emotional depth and technical perfection, left the audience breathless. Each of her interpretations was imbued with a passion and drama that leaves no one indifferent.

Alongside her shined Danijela Pintarić, a versatile artist who masterfully commands both the violin and her voice. As a prominent soprano and theater actress, Pintarić brought her unique energy and elegance to the stage. Her performances are characterized by subtlety and warmth, and her vocal flexibility allows her to tackle various musical genres with equal success, from classical arias to popular ballads.

The musical pillar and link of this trio was the renowned composer and pianist Darko Domitrović. His piano accompaniment was more than just support; it was an active dialogue with the singers, filled with dynamics and emotion. As the husband of Sandra Bagarić, their artistic and life harmony was evident in every shared note. Domitrović also presented his own compositions, showcasing the full richness of his compositional talent.

A Journey Through Timeless Melodies

The concert's repertoire was carefully chosen to take the audience on an emotional and stylistically diverse journey. The evening was filled with the glamour of Broadway musicals, the nostalgia of film classics, and the warmth of local evergreens. The audience had the opportunity to enjoy legendary compositions that have marked generations. Performances of world hits such as "Over the Rainbow" from the movie "The Wizard of Oz," the moving "I Dreamed a Dream" from the musical "Les Misérables," and timeless ballads like "The Winner Takes It All" by ABBA and "I Will Always Love You" by Whitney Houston were heard.

Particularly emotional moments occurred during the performance of local classics. Songs like "Život je lijep" (Life is Beautiful), "Moja posljednja i prva ljubavi" (My Last and First Love), and Gibonni's "Neka cijeli svijet" (Let the Whole World) were hummed along by the entire audience, creating a touching atmosphere of togetherness. The artists showed immense respect for these songs, giving them a new dimension with their powerful vocals. The highlight of the evening, which also showed the artists' humorous side, was Rossini's "Duet for Two Cats," which, with its comical character, provoked bursts of laughter and thunderous applause. The program also included original compositions by Darko Domitrović from his musical "Byron," which gave the audience an insight into contemporary musical-stage creation.

Summer Continues: "Sunset Vibes Poreč" at the Marina

The "Greeting to Summer" concert was just a prelude to the rich musical program that the Poreč Tourist Board is preparing for the summer months. The success of this event confirmed that the Poreč Marina is an ideal location for future events, so the program continues under the significant name "Sunset Vibes Poreč". The idea is to transform the newly renovated marina space into a favorite gathering place for all generations, a place where locals and numerous tourists can relax with quality music and unforgettable sunsets. This is certainly one more reason for guests looking for a vacation in Poreč to plan their visit.

The musical evenings will be held during July, August, and September, and the stage will belong to local musicians performing in duo and trio ensembles. The program is scheduled for the following dates: July 9, 16, and 23, then August 6, 13, 20, and 27, and September 3, always starting at 9:00 PM. With this program, the Tourist Board continues to enrich the city's cultural offer, creating content that promotes local artists and provides an authentic Mediterranean experience. Poreč thus once again confirms its commitment to creating a city tailored to its citizens and visitors, a city filled with life, culture, and unforgettable moments.

Tourism desk

Our Travel Desk was born out of a long-standing passion for travel, discovering new places, and serious journalism. Behind every article stand people who have been living tourism for decades – as travelers, tourism workers, guides, hosts, editors, and reporters. For more than thirty years, destinations, seasonal trends, infrastructure development, changes in travelers’ habits, and everything that turns a trip into an experience – and not just a ticket and an accommodation reservation – have been closely followed. These experiences are transformed into articles conceived as a companion to the reader: honest, informed, and always on the traveler’s side.

At the Travel Desk, we write from the perspective of someone who has truly walked the cobblestones of old towns, taken local buses, waited for the ferry in peak season, and searched for a hidden café in a small alley far from the postcards. Every destination is observed from multiple angles – how travelers experience it, what the locals say about it, what stories are hidden in museums and monuments, but also what the real quality of accommodation, beaches, transport links, and amenities is. Instead of generic descriptions, the focus is on concrete advice, real impressions, and details that are hard to find in official brochures.

Special attention is given to conversations with restaurateurs, private accommodation hosts, local guides, tourism workers, and people who make a living from travelers, as well as those who are only just trying to develop lesser-known destinations. Through such conversations, stories arise that do not show only the most famous attractions but also the rhythm of everyday life, habits, local cuisine, customs, and small rituals that make every place unique. The Travel Desk strives to record this layer of reality and convey it in articles that connect facts with emotion.

The content does not stop at classic travelogues. It also covers topics such as sustainable tourism, off-season travel, safety on the road, responsible behavior towards the local community and nature, as well as practical aspects like public transport, prices, recommended neighborhoods to stay in, and getting your bearings on the ground. Every article goes through a phase of research, fact-checking, and editing to ensure that the information is accurate, clear, and applicable in real situations – from a short weekend trip to a longer stay in a country or city.

The goal of the Travel Desk is that, after reading an article, the reader feels as if they have spoken to someone who has already been there, tried everything, and is now honestly sharing what is worth seeing, what to skip, and where those moments are hidden that turn a trip into a memory. That is why every new story is built slowly and carefully, with respect for the place it is about and for the people who will choose their next destination based on these words.
